"LISAN AL GAIB, as his former followers called him, but now Paul walks alone in the dessert, carefully analyzing his step by step, as he doesn't want to a wake the great Shai Hulud in his footsteps, through his journey to the endless spice dust sand, he sees a spike rocks, he gives a sign of relief, but one mistake of his footing shakes the sands beneath him, as the great worm emerged from below, he sees it, the shai hulud, going through the rocks after rocks, he can only stand in fear or in admiration for his life begins a new, a chance of redemption, Paul Atreides, the emperor of universe now just a simple hermit, walks again to the unknown in the planet Dune"

He was lonely, but outwardly escapist. His family and friends were too busy to see his world, his galaxy. He took a chance and hitched a ride to the outer starscapes, and felt the tranquility. He came here to explore, and he found sights beyond his wildest dreams. He came here to escape, and he found unfathomable peace. It was a planet out of a book, something he couldn't describe. Traders would stop by and offer him transit to the next system, but he refused and told them "I'll catch you on the way back!" Trains of settlers passed through, saw the planet and new it was not for them. He called to them "Stay a while, and see!" but life took them elsewhere. Debris passed, colliding with the moon; the most spectacular lightshow amid the atmosphere. In its wake, Scouts passed and offered assistance; "I've still more to see, let me show you!" Instead, they were duty bound. Corvettes and destroyers cast leviathan shadows on the moon, but carried on. Eventually, the man had traveled laboriously; his feet had helped him see the world, and his eyes told his feet it was worth the journey. But he heard not a sound; the wind held fast, the leaves shook not. The clouds remained, and moon was listless. It was utter peace. Undying silence. So I waited. For someone. For something. I sat against a tree and stared up. Thought of the inner planets. I stared out into the blue. Drowned in the blue. And waited. Dreaming of a Pale Horse. The starships never pass by here anymore.

I climb to this sturdy rock, and through it top, i reach the surface, i stand tall, as if i am in heavens, above me, i can see the stars, the planet , not far in front in me surrounded by the clouds , is a tree, amd with it's back, clear as the skies around in the place im standing, another mountain with the most clean shape of a giant skull, the eyes light up as blue just like the space, could be another mountain or a planet far but close ,as i watched in delight, i choose to take a step forward as i won't know what lays behind this skull, but surely a good adventure awaits

"he walk closer to the balcony, and through the tall glass he sees the bright orange moon, cloudy spread through the city, but he can see well enough for he is standing in the tallest building, he have a moment to admire the scenery, in the night that is still long, peaceful and silent, serenity, all the man can do now is stand, looking as if he had a quiet long life"

Out here, we don’t see many wanderers. Scavengers, hunters, or old, forgotten visitors are all we get. The forests are gone, all packed into ships and brought to the Inner Rings. The mines are dried, their fruits harvested and fractured over the hundreds of generations. I make a habit to come out here. To gaze upon the stars we will never see for ourselves. The sky so pure, the whole of space opens up to me. I’m the only one left, lost in some page of an almanac, waiting for someone, anyone, to find me. As this world’s days in the light of stars and men come to a close, I ask the echoes if it was worth it. The starships never pass by anymore, and I don’t blame them. There’s nothing left to see.

"As we arrive to the planet soft atmosphere, we sees a castle, not far from our right, it is tall as it reach to the clouds as if it was the house of a holy civilization once prosper in greatness, to it's right the big planet of that under the mountains of it's ocean surface, we stumbled to the planets ground, hard and sturdy, but good enough to land, there we watched as if we just found our new home, new planet, a new life to begin "

Her name was Eliza. They say there's only one girl like her in each generation, where the toxins and the bloodworms in her mother's womb were so few and gentle that her skin is almost perfectly clear of the deep gauges and pockmarks that the reat of us have. I still can't believe she chose to be with me. I had nothing to offer her but the sweat of my brow in the mines, and the small patch of land from my parents to grow tubers on. And a face as pocky as they come. But she said I had a glimmer in my eyes that reminded her of something outside of her memory. Something she could never find in this world. We could still trade minerals for fertilizers back then, and fuel for the humidity strippers that tore water from the air for irrigation and drink. I wish we had known back then. Maybe there would be a way to get her and the baby onto some freighter-ship with enough minerals or some kind of bribe. In my darkest moments I even fantasize about giving her away to some crewmate. Just knowing that she would be alive somewhere would be enough. She didn't have to be mine. And the baby as well. We didn't even get to name him. We never got to know why they stopped coming. And we didn't have much energy to speculate back then either. All we knew was that suddenly everything stopped. No fertilizer or fuel would ever come from the skies again. The worst part is the cruelty of it all. That our only source of found water would be so contaminated with the filth of this planet, that only those of us whose bodies were the most damaged by this planet already would survive it. She died first. In my arms. It took the baby another two days to die. His screams for his mother still haunts me to this day. They echo my own silent ones. And still, we live on. Those of us who are left. Waiting for someday, when ships would arrive from the skies again. So that our lives will once more have some direction or hope for a future beyond this living hell.

As I stared out into the landscape of the planet Levitans, watching the rocky columns and the trees dancing in the cool breeze my supervisor slapped me on the back. "Soon Jasper, soon we'll return back home with resources to last us till were skeletons." the ruins of a once great temple floats by. He walks away chuckling to himself. "Wait!" I say after him. He pauses and turns to me. "Is it worth it?" I say looking back out just before we pass through a cloud. he walks back over and puts a hand on my shoulder. "soon these worthless stone piles will be mined into metal, the lumber taken off world and the structures, well whats left of them anyway, will be put into a museum. Relic worlds like these are only worth the landscape and nothing more." He walks away to go talk to the drilling team. I lean against the railings and stick my hand out into the cloud leaving a bright blue streak. Maybe we've gone too far. I look out onto the bright orange moon, I can already see the cracks on its surface where my company has begun extraction. I light a cigarette and think about what it was like to live here, on those islands that were to be chained to the ground so they may be mined, how many families once walked them? how many lives existed here? What gods did they worship in their temples? How many children climbed those trees, how many people looked far off into the horizon and had there spirits lifted with a sense of adventure. Now it was our turn, we the looters coming in for one last score. Forgive us Levitans. I drop the butt of my cigarette overboard and go back to my station.

Salvas, I'm still only on Salvas. I shut my eyes and the thousand mechanical cries of orbital railcannon fire still scream into my ears, searing those terrible images of blue and orange light into my retinas. The islands in the sky, the ones you look at now fondly, were born out of the single largest terrestrial bombing campaign in history. The bolts which flew down from overhead were ones laced with tungsten-laminate linings and they numbered in the hundreds that day. I still remember the look on my commander's face. He was a stoud one, the kind of asshole you couldn't wait to get away from. But when he went from shouting orders at me and my fellow men to staring in abject terror at the streaks in the sky, I died right then and there. The starships were flying down in the hundreds following the bombardment, when resistance was all but futile and the fighting died down in the face of such overwhelming firepower. I had survived the single deadliest fleet action and I didn't even know it yet, but when i saw those amalgamated concentrations of strata floating eerily in the blue sky, I knew something was wrong. They established a quarantine zone some time after, citing a "gravitational misbehavior". But, as you can see, I ignored it. The starships never pass by here anymore.

We used to watch the sky with anticipation. Not for visitors, not for traders or explorers, but for the ships that carried our children away. Earth was dying, its air clogged with ash, its waters poisoned by centuries of neglect. When the first generation ships arrived, we didn’t hesitate. They offered a future we couldn’t provide. They promised worlds with fresh air, open skies, and rivers that sparkled in the sun. “For your children,” they said, “a new start.” Every year, the starships came. Each time, they selected the brightest and healthiest among us. Families would gather at the spaceport, clutching one another tightly before the children ascended the ramp. The starships were sleek and silent, their surfaces a deep, impenetrable black that reflected the barren landscape around them. We told ourselves it was worth the pain. We told ourselves the children would thrive where we could not. They’d write back sometimes, through tight-beamed messages transmitted from systems far beyond our reach. “It’s beautiful here,” they’d say. “We’re learning so much. We’ll make you proud.” But as the years passed, the letters became fewer. The children stopped writing altogether. The ships still came, though, every year like clockwork. We offered them our youth, hoping, praying that they would find something better than we had. The starship crews never stayed long-stoic figures in featureless suits, they’d take their passengers and leave without a word. Then, one year, they didn’t come. We waited by the spaceport, scanning the heavens for the familiar streaks of light. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months. The sky remained empty. The silence stretched on, thick and suffocating. The rumors began almost immediately. Some said the colonies had failed, that the children were lost, and the starships had stopped to spare us the truth. Others whispered of wars in distant systems, of alien powers that had snuffed out the light of our hope. A few suggested that the ships had never intended to help us at all, that we’d been sending our children into the void for nothing. The years passed, and the world continued its slow decay. We stopped waiting at the spaceport, stopped looking at the sky. The once-thriving cities dwindled into hollow shells, and the generations left behind grew old and bitter, burdened by the absence of those they’d let go. Now, only the oldest among us remember the ships. They sit by the rusting remains of the spaceport and tell stories of sleek vessels and distant stars, of promises made and children who never returned. But the starships never pass by here any more.

After looking at the moon I felt a fear run through my body, now in this world that can barely sustain a little life, I saw how a few ships were going towards the moon, with them the last people who can survive this catastrophe that devastates our world, millionaires, important politicians, nobles, and even one or another lucky one. My son asks me: Is there hope for humanity? Of course," I replied, "of course there is hope, but it is not for us. -from a novice writer

How long has it been? Since they were last here? The last of those 'bold explorers' and 'scientists'? They didn't make much of our world when they came by the first time. Or the second... Or third... I guess they were looking for something that our planet couldn't offer them. Still, every now and again I wonder... What did they want? What did they fail to find here? I think they were called...'humans'? Yes, that's it. 'Humans'. What a funny name. We saw more of their ships in the sky as time went on. They'd just pass though. Once so many...then slowly...fewer and fewer... And now...none. Did they not notice us? Did they fail to see? It's been so long, though. Perhaps they just didn't notice. Yet, here we are. In our home. I'm looking at one of their ships that crashed here. There's a human inside. They don't talk. Or move. But they seem to smile a lot. How funny. Maybe this one found what they were looking for. The starships never pass by here anymore... But that's fine. I'll sit here with this smiling, pale human...and watch for a while. Maybe today, their friends will come and take them home. What do you think, human? Where did your friends go?

Starhope-X-212-01. That was the name of the ship. We simply called it X. It carried us to this planet 10 years ago, promised this was just a drop off before we get to Paradise, a planet hyped as the promised land for the remaining human species. But it never came back. It will be our eleventh year on this deserted, hell hole of a planet when the next full moon shines. At this point, most have given up hope of paradise, but there are still some stubborn souls among us that want to keep our ancestor's hope alive. And this is where my story begins.

It sounded like it was raining... or was it a stream somewhere? The plants hanging above dripped as well. Water. Huffy had heard about water once, but it was just a lyric from a song his mother sang to him and his sister as children. Huffy laid catching his breathe and taking in the rhythm of falling liquid sky. Breathe in. Breathe out. When Huffy had asked his fathers friend for help with his plan, he wasn't expecting... this. Slowing his breathing, Huffy got to his feet and more fully took in the chamber he had just been pushed into. His fathers friend had told him, if he wanted to save his sister, first he had to visit a sacred place. A forgotten place. Somewhere just off planet on one of the many unnamed moons orbiting home. Huffy wondered how many times he had seen this rock trace the sky above him and not known what treasures and mystery awaited him. Huffy's gaze came to rest on what was obviously his fathers friends advice- a circle of glowing light. As Huffy walked forward, he could sense the ring reacting to him. Perhaps it was an eye? Or a type of alien he hadnt been taught about in school. 'Hello?' Huffy panted There was a brief silence, broken by a soft but commanding 'Hello.' Huffy couldnt tell where the noise came from, as it sounded like it was coming from all directions, but he took it in stride. His fathers friend had warned him that it was not an experience to take lightly. Huffy was asking to work with real power. And that meant real danger. 'Are y-you... a-are you Otema?' 'Yes' the voice replied 'My fathers friend Leoon sent me he- well I mean, I asked to come here... well I mean, I asked Leoon to help me and he sai-' Huffy was cut off by the voice: 'You need not waste both our time with what we both already know child. I have watched you stare into heaven. I have felt the anguish in your tears.' Huffy gasped, his breath becoming shaky as the voice continued: 'You must go to SANS-B42, in the Iitiilliok system. There, you will find a small militia currently working to infiltrate your oppressor's main star system. You will join them, and with them you will find what you're searching for.' 'I just want my sister back.' Huffy exclaimed. The voice stayed silent. Huffy paused a second before stuttering, 'I'm sorry. I mean no disrespect- I'm just... are you sure? Is this how I get my sister back?' 'You will find what you're searching for' the voice said flatly before falling silent again. Huffy heard Leoon's feet above him now, his fathers friend preparing to lower the rope and pull Huffy out of the cavern. As Huffy saw the light from above flood the cavern, he saw more clearly how massive the space he was in was. He saw the rope lowering, and as it got close to his grasp he felt something touch his shoulder. Or was it falling water? Then, as Huffy was about to ascend and carry out the plan, the voice suddenly called out: 'You must lie to them. If you want your sister back you must lie to those you meet on B42. And they must believe you.' 'Wait... what? What do you mean? Lie about what?! Hello?' Huffy continued to call out as he began being dragged back up, but the voice remained silent. Huffy reached out and grabbed Leoon's hand, finally back on the surface. 'You okay son?' Leoon asked 'Yeah, I'm okay. I just need to get to SANS-B42.' 'Out in Iiltiilliok?' A small smile crept across the older mans face. 'Well, ain't that interesting...'

Huffy would stand like that for hours. Just staring at the iron giants in the sky, seemingly mezmerized by their slow arc across the horizon. 'It's been 14 years, Huffy. They aren't bringing her back.' His parents told him over and over to let his sister go. His father worked himself night and day to escape thinking about it. His mother became a ghost- quiet, reserved, timid. Staring out across the deep blue sky, Huffy's eyes followed the giant ships into a golden sunset across the old lands. When the last ships disappeared over the horizon, Huffy's gaze broke, and he scanned the cracked rock and clay landscape that sprawled in every direction as far as he could see. The ships took his sister 14 years ago, and every time they'd enter orbit Huffy would wait to see if one was landing like the last time all those years ago. He had to find a way onto one of the giant iron birds. He wouldn't distract himself like his father or bury himself behind his eyes like his mother. Huffy was going to get his sister back. He just needed a plan. A way on a ship.

The ground was hard here. I could tell from how rough our landing was... not that Stephanie was the best pilot for the job in the first place. But, knowing we were on solid ground finally made up for any in-flight drama. And Stephanie was dealing with the loss every day, just like Davis. Just like me. Our chief scientist, Dr. Cromwell, was already out of her tank and just strapping in her last tentacle to her bio-suit as she made the call over comms- "everyone ok?" There was a muted 'yes' from what few remained of our crew, and just like that the ships pod bay doors swung open to reveal our situation- the haunting green fog of amonia gas reacting to this planets over abundance of Ca-1, over what appeared to be snow covered basalt rock- just to our left an eerily still river almost silently hugging the banks of hills and massive fallen tree trunks, to my right just green sky and flat icy ground. "Let's get with it, then" a pat on my back from Doma as she walked out of the back of the ship and led our small group to the other side of our plane. We had landed just before a decent hill, but the hill could not hide the light, nor the bone rattling vibrations of what we were here for. What we came all this way for. What Nirv sacrificed himself for. We began to climb the hill at Doma's call, we lost almost everyone, but that somehow made us few survivors that much better at coordinating position. We needed to be focused. I needed to be focused. 'Think about Nirv later,' Doma spoke in an excited but hushed tone, seemingly reading my mind. 'Now, we must make sure his sacrifice wasn't for nothing. We have a duty to him and all those we've lost on this path. For justice. For our families. For the home they've taken from us. First, we get the disk. Then we can cry. Right now, we move.' And with that we all quickly scaled the remainder of the hill, to reveal the source of the light and ground shaking rumbling- the head and neck of an old imperial age carrier ship, jutting out of the side of a mountain like the snout of a dragon... no, not just a mountain. A base. Shelxicub was rising due east over the monster of machinery. 'What a perfect morning, for this kinda thing,' Davis prodded next to me before checking his arrows for curvature or splintering. I couldn't help but smile. We were getting Grayce back today. I stared up towards where I knew they were keeping her disk and swore I could see her looking back at me. Waiting for me to keep my promise. 'You ready?' Doma looked past me, Stephanie, Cromwell, and Davis. A moment of silence passed, just the pale green fog and the hum of the mechanical monster. 'Then let's go' I'm coming Grayce.

And why would they? Our world was a blight. Our people an infection. They beat us back, until all we had left was this small broken world. We used to rule, to consume. A force in competition with nature itself. Under the weight of our power, we crushed everyone. Every thing. But, under that pressure, our breath drew short. We rotted from the inside. So, they did what was right. What was expected. We fell with the weight of a leviathan. The loudest of our calls, now fading into the echoes of eternity. What few of us are left, will die here. We deserve nothing else.

Explorers finally get recognition as they have a chance to discover new worlds. When an explorer finds a world, they plant a device so people know the planet is important. Their ships are often small, but others can be much larger research vessels with a crew of scientists. An amazing job, being an explorer is, after the Great War everything has been built from the ground up. New jobs and experiences make it easy to live now. One time a terrestrial planet with about 5 moons visible at a time was found by a crew of explorers on a large vessel. The surveyer exited the ship's airlock and saw the moons and beautiful green plants and said to his crew: the new world lies ahead

A strange, melancholy place Judalis was. A cold dark exoplanet that happened to drift into a solar system's outer areas when we were in need. Ravaged by wear, tear, and war, the planet has been left a barren wasteland, and if you look too far, you will find those claimed by the cold. Ancient monuments stand destroyed, and mountains are wiped from the earth. Starships still come here, but are shortly destroyed by Judalic Pirates. The last few inhabitants of the accursed planet now wander in search of a grove of some kind, and their infinite solace often leads them to be alone. But they always have one thing in common. They have a special saying that helps them when they are traveling the icy plains, when the toil of war and the cold gets to them the most: Stare at the moon and cleanse thy heart.

We are all just waiting to die here! If only we knew now what we knew back then, things could have gone another way. The first and definitely the only attempt to colonize another planet has failed, and along with it, our species. Now, we just wait for our inevitable fate. As I lay awake at night, trying to comprehend the sheer scale of this extinction, what it truly means, and how sad it all really is, all I can think about is Earth, and how I'd do anything to go back to when times were good and spend just one more day there. I hope the future knows about us.

This used to be a busy planet, thriving and full of life. Ever since the Julebiann War the entire solar system has been left to rot. Mom used to tell us stories when she grew up here. Homes and plants filled the surface and our people roamed free. Starships from nearby systems would visit us, gifting us food, medicine and other resources. Now we live like insects and we were left for dead. The starships never pass by here anymore.
