Building a Compound part 2 Propane Tanks and a NEW TOY

One of the things we need to do before getting too carried away with our backyard compound is revamping our propane storage tanks. We currently have 3 420lb tanks that are all in our way so we're switching to a torpedo tank. And we got a new piece of equipment to fiddle with. A Ducar Trencher.

Why not use silicone grease on those orings? Are we sure dishwashing detergent is okay?
Silicone grease would probably be fine too. I have always used dish soap. It has never let me down.
Hi Kevin I’m a little bit in the dark about when you tap the weights on the crank what are you listening for if it’s bad, if it’s bad what would it mean like would it be bent or cracked? I liked watching you handle the new bearings my dad had me so scared to touch them and I didn’t understand how do you install them or measure them if you can’t touch them 😂😂😂. And how many thousands do you think you cut out of the ridge? Your the first person to explain “crush “ honestly Kevin I am 53 right now and worked with engine quite a bit so thanks for that tip oh and same with putting the rod in the vise that makes perfect sense to me because I am a crane operator and I always had to explain to my customers that you can’t side load the crane boom no pulling at all or I’ll be on the 6:00 news 😂😂 Oh one more thing where did you get the small block Ford manual? I enjoy wrenching with you when I can!😀🇨🇦
If there's a crack it won't ring nice. It'd have more of a thud.
Hey Kevin, as always I enjoyed this video, it’s been a while since I’ve rebuilt an engine, spent the early part of my mechanical career working at a Chrysler dealership as a technician and did lots of rebuilding then, certainly brought back some memories watching you tear that one down. Even learned a few things from you! Thanks for the video Kevin!
@@raymondantonio4145 Gad you enjoyed it! More coming!
Hi. I know this video is 3 years old, but would you PLEASE tell me how you got the PTO Shaft Safety Shield removed on the Kubota Snowblower shaft? I see it's a Weasler Shield and so is mine. But I cannot figure out how to remove the shield.. So far, Weasler has been no help.
Oh boy. I will have to think about that. Offhand I just can't remember.
Just learned a lot about these cool tractors. Turns out I bought a 2n . It came with a big JD brush hog and I got a blade for it although it sounds like that might have been a mistake..... Oh well I will just have to find an 8n now LOL
It'll handle the bush hog and blade no problem. Grab a set of mower chains for the hog so you can keep it at the height you want . The position control on an 8N is a nice feature.
Hey Kevin, I’d say those wheels look pretty good on the old convertible and done on the cheap too! Ive never come across those balancing beads before, I wonder how long they’d last? Thanks for the video, always entertaining! Have a great week!
New to me too. We'll see how it works out.
Hey Kevin, Was commenting on your B and D video from a long while back. Have been doing more research and started looking into Sioux stuff and came across this. Do you still love it? Like you say the B and D was for a garage to do the odd job and the Sioux is for a machine shop. It seems to me the Sioux is way better quality? I am eyeing up a model 645B and a model 2001 locally. I think I like the older 645 but the 2001 is a lot newer.
For the same money I'll take a Sioux every time. But if I got a smokin deal on a B&D I'd be happy with it too.
@ Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin.
@@Schneids15 My pleasure.
That was very educational for me like you said it’s a lot to take in but some of it will hopefully stick to my brain 😀🇨🇦
I'm sure I missed plenty but I'm happy if you got something out of it.
Hey Kevin I learned a lot from you today and I’m ready to learn more about the Ford blocks and cranks and I would appreciate another video as you suggested about Ford blocks and I am glad you were able to help the guy with the crank and rods for his engine I bet he’s very happy 😀🇨🇦
here you go! ua-cam.com/video/cfI04hWNl5Q/v-deo.html
That thing is beautiful. I'm going to find myself one. Thank's for sharing. I had a new Yam outboard I rebuilt and had to use one of these to trim the stem to get valve clearance. New cam buckets were 50$ US a piece X 16. So we trimmed the stems to get clearance for free.
Watch marketplace and auctions . They pop up all the time. Real handy thing to have.
@ Yes I got my eyes peeled. Look’s like you are in ON. Grew up there my whole life but moved west to SK to chase old cars and trucks. Hence why I need the valve machine now😃
@@Schneids15 There's still a few old cars around here. You just have to be good at welding LOL.
@@ClaremontClassicGarage Lol! There is. You are right about the welder that’s for sure. Even here some floor pans are gone. But overly the condition of everything really amazes me. Have a good one😃
@@Schneids15 Thanks! You too.
New tank looks good. Off shore is what you pay for, sometimes good and sometimes not so good. Keeps us on our toes. Thanks for the video.
100%. I figured it would need some re engineering. This stuff always does. There's another video coming up about it. I think the problem is solved, or at least we can move on and find the next weakest link.
Hello, can you tell me the size of the belt? Where do you buy it? 2 small
I got them at Canadian Tire which if you're not Canadian is a large hardware/department store.. I just matched them up. Can't remember the exact one I got. Take your old ones to a vacuum cleaner place and they will match them up for you. Or measure with a string and find something on Amazon.
G day Kevin So what was wrong with old ones? I kinda think steel isn.t as strong. I watch videos from states , there is always cheaper asian new machines for sale Ths good luck
I have had a few run-ins with offshore equipment. You get the stuff for a song but you have to be willing to work thru the baloney with them. Its all sorted out now. there will be a video strictly about the trencher coming up soon.
@@ClaremontClassicGarage O K Ths
I just bought a 1968 Galaxie 500 xl and probably could use help with your videos
One thing I love is 68 Fords. let me know if you have any questions.
I had a 1946 ford ferguson 9n
1946 would actually be a 2N even though the serial number started with 9N. They never issued 2N prefixed serial numbers. All 9N and 2N serial numbers start with 9N. Why they did that, I'll never know
@ClaremontClassicGarage i bought if from a Ford tractor dealer, they were the ons who said it was a 46 Ford ferguson.
@ClaremontClassicGarage i bought if from a Ford tractor dealer, they were the ons who said it was a 46 Ford ferguson.
@ Yep Its a 1946 Ford Ferguson 2N. If it still has its original FORD emblem on the front (but not many of them do) it will have 2N cast into it very faintly right under the O and R The Ferguson System badge was on them from 1939 til 1947 on 9Ns and 2Ns.
Great video, Kevin. Would like to see the engine repaired and what you find when you take it apart. Hopefully it wont be a real pricey job for the owner.
My minivan is tying up my repair bay right now but as soon as its out we'll be taking that engine apart.
Mufflers are discontinued. Trans has been swapped yours would have had you plug on side. Fenders are correct. Late ‘39 early ‘40 had 3 rivets instead of 5 rivets on top of fenders. Loren Booth is repopping the heat shield along with snap in hood hatch. Since you are changing out the generator and VR if you’re considering selling it would be nice interesting I buy it. It is a nice ‘40 you have there
Thank you, Kirk. I'm pretty sure the Sherman and the 2N trans came at the same time.
Hey Kevin I thought I would just comment on what I have done in the past with an oil burner , you could do an oil change and put a # 50 grade oil or a #30 with an STP or give her 15/40 with an additive you know what ever you think it can handle and then wait until spring or summer and put a load on it and make her sweat it wouldn’t be a really expensive experiment and maybe it might loosen up any loose rings and burn out some carbon just a suggestion. I just wanted to tell you to when I was your my Dad bought a 8N and it didn’t have sleeves and boy what a difference it had a lot more power I didn’t think it would make that much difference but it was a good old machine 😀🇨🇦
I have a couple of sleeveless ones around here too. They're great at first but once they eat the block like both of mine you're in a world of pain.
Enjoyed the video Kevin, need to study up a bit on those governors for mine, thanks for the video!
@@raymondantonio4145 Thanks for tuning in!
Hi Kevin, convince the owner that the tractor needs a total refurbishment.
Glad to see another great tractor brought back to life. Thanks for sharing Kevin.
Thanks for watching!
At 21 minutes I use a gasket scraper to remove the seat.
Great idea, thanks!
For your SAFETY install a battery cover and never fuel while running. The 2N my dad bought was in a fire where the farmer set the tractor on fire by toughing the fueling nozzle to the battery or spilled some fuel over the running engine. He set the wheels out for rollover safety when racing with STEP-UP.
All good advice. Thank you.
Hey Kevin, I learn so much watching you, love the old tractor videos, looking forward to this series! Have a great week!
Thanks for tuning in!
Love the videos
Thanks for watching!
Early 1944 2Ns had the I-beam style radius arms. My 1944 2N has the I-beam arms. It was mid 1944 that Ford went with the oval shape arms. Also, all 2Ns had the access holes in the doglegs to get to the grille bolts. 9Ns did not have the access holes.
my dad had a 9n with I beam radius arms.
Its amazing how much changed from year to year
@@retiredlife848 All 9Ns and the early 2Ns had the I-beam style arms.
If you are interested in selling the 6 loop 32 rim. Or if you would like to swap it for a 32 hatrim please let me know. Loren Booth is repopping the snap in cover
won't be much happening with it til spring or summer.
Thank you so much for doing these Kinetico softener repair videos. It inspired me to work on my own 2030s softener that looks just like yours. I have my fingers crossed that I resolved my "won't finish regen cycle and keeps backwashing" problem. I wish there was more support from Kinetico about how to work on these. More people might buy their products if they did.
They keep a pretty tight lid on it. I'll cross my fingers for you!
Good job. I always liked the black fence over the bare metal. Your dogs seem to like their new play area.
I don't mind the green stuff either but its hard to find now.
I would have also cemented the center post of each run, I have seen them lay over in the wind, your little 24" deep is NOT enough.
guess we'll find out.
Thanks for more info
Thanks for watching!

"It looks like it's been in a transmission shop" Karl probably put the transmission in it.

Nice to have close friends to pass on old iron. You look like a proud papa with a newborn. Great video, Kevin.Curious to know what the plug in the intake manifold is for?
It was used to run a vacuum powered milking machine if I recall.
Great video, can you do a update on the chipper and tractor used.

Thank you. We'll look after it as well as Gord did.
Thanks for taking care of this unit for Gord. He has obviously chosen the right caretaker!
Congrats Kevin, I’m sure Gord knows it will be well taken care of! Thanks for the video Kevin!
Congrats on your new old Ferguson. Is your barn full yet or its there room for more?
Thanks! Barn is packed.
I have one of those, I think mine is a 49, TO20. It currently isn't running 😢
A TO20 is the only one I don't have. Always on the hunt for one. Very few of them here in Canada.
@ClaremontClassicGarage I actually started it this summer but I don't have the time or expertise to fix it right now.
