Aerolite 103 Practicing Approaches
I'm much more comfortable in my aircraft now, and I'm trying various approaches and touch-and-goes at CO4.
I've sorted out both the throttle and radio issues I was having last weekend.

Aerolite 103 First Full Flight

This is my first full flight in my Aerolite 103... my first solo off-airport flight ever, actually. Takeoff was from 17R (CO4), I flew the pattern at 500 feet AGL, and landed 17R. Only issues that I ran into was my throttle backed off about 10 seconds after takeoff so I had to hold it, and I couldn't hear a damned thing over the radio. Both are easily fixed. I just wanted to test OBS recording with my new VR setup and optimized Flight Sim settings. Quick flight from 48AZ (in Montezuma) to KSEZ (Sedona) in the Cub Crafters NX Cub. I have my framerate capped at 42fps, and I never noticed a dip in performance, except briefly on final. Yeah, I know... Try the old traditional ultralight approach of “chop and drop” where you chop the throttle on final and push the nose over for a steep decent. The high drag and low mass of an ultralight means that your approach speed won’t get high, maybe only 45-50 mph in something like the aerolite. Once you round out in the flare you’ll lose energy fast but settle in quickly for a nice landing. This approach works best if you have a small and low pattern that used to be common with ultralights. Back in the 80’s and 90’s it was common for most of us to fly a pattern of around 400’ AGL.

Hi! I have a Rotax 447. The carb (Bing 54) is properly jetted for sea-level, so I compensate by oxygenating the fuel using a small amount of nitropropane. This, along with a K&N air filter, gives me all the power I need and my CHT and EGT are *well* within spec. I will easily exceed 50 mph on climb-out. You definitely wouldn't want one of the smaller engines at this elevation (CO4 sits at 6145 ft msl)

How does the Reverb compare to the Quest 2 from your previous video?
Night and day. The Quest is the wrong unit to use with the PC, at least for MSFS. The Reverb was designed specifically for PCVR, and it does amazingly well with MSFS. I can't recommend it enough for Flight Sim.

If you set Texture Filtering Negative LOD bias to clamp, it might help with some of that cloud graininess. Something to do with handling moving objects like clouds different than stationary ones, though I'm quite sure I don't understand it completely by any means.
