Honestly, this is one of the most darkest animes besides corpse party and I absolutely love this anime because it had such an amazing story to it. I mean it was dark, but it had its really wonderful, beautiful moments. I never watched the original though. And really good twists

Sotsu and gou literally destroyed Satoko's character, literally how does studying, bad friendship communication and not fitting into a school's standards turn a sweet little girl who acts out out of trauma, endured huge amounts of abuse, and just wants her brother back, into whatever yandere cringe bullcrap this is 💀 The older higurashi not only had better designs, but also better writing, like literally, the og and rei Satoko would've talked this out with Rika after a few days like a normal human being, or use the looping power to just look into previous worlds, to see what happened to Satoshi 💀
