🌱🧅 Growing your own onions versus buying them at 2024 prices! 💰
Hi Guys, Firstly sorry for the audio I believe my phone mic may not be working properly. Charlotte and I wanted to share with you our 2023 onion harvest. We havested these just prior to Christmas and now that they are all dried out we wanted to compare the cost spent buying these onion seedlings to the current cost of onions in the shops today. Such a fun experiment, we will definately be planting more this year! Thank you for watching, hope you enjoy!

Hi from a fellow gardener in Tenterfield, NSW. In the next few days I'll be planting garlic too. I've started making compost tea to feed my indoor and outdoor plants with. Mostly from grass that I pull up. Weeds get used as mulch for the most part. Compost tea is a great way to get fertilizer for your veggies. Tou just need a really big container with a lid. I use a smaller version of our council rubbish bins. Fill with debris, top up with water and in 3 days its ready to use. I only use half the water then top up again.

Hi Elisa, I'm on the Central Coast too. I came across your channel and look forward to binge-watching your last year when the sun goes down. We tend to be more warm temperate than cool temperate so you won't get repeat flowing on many cool temperate bulbs like daffodils and ranunculus. I've given up growing ranunculus as they just start to bud up and then stop as it gets too warm for them. I've tried lots of different varieties of daffodils and the variety that comes back the most reliably for me every year is 'ice follies'. I look forward to watching what works best for you in your microclimate.

Would a French drain type system, 100mm pipe 10-20cm under ground with holes drilled at bottom of the pipe… topped with stone/small rocks not work for your drainage issues. I did it with 50mm pipe here in South Africa, and move a lot of standing and flowing water to the ends of my yard.

Hi JD thanks for your suggestion we ended up using a combination of French drains and big berms to divert water, it has mostly worked. I will have to film an updated property tour for you to show you it all!

Lovely new garden bed. I love the grandfather story. It's because of my father memories I grow globe artichoke. The gardens should be a special place for us all. New friend from Newfoundland 👋🙂
