STRANDED on Donner Summit in a Massive Winter Storm!
On December 14th, 2024, a significant winter storm brought travel nightmares to Interstate 80 over Donner Summit in California. Motorists became stranded for hours, waiting for the highway to reopen due to an accident on the eastbound lanes. In typical fashion, what do you do to bide the time? Walk on the highway! I talked with one of the many spectacular CalTrans workers in District 3 about some of her ideas for the future, along with other motorists waiting for the traffic to clear. Enjoy!

Chasing a MASSIVE Atmospheric River! Interstate 5 Shutdown, Trucks Stranded Everywhere!
Переглядів 33 тис.21 день тому
A massive atmospheric river impacted Northern California, bringing heavy snow to two towns, Weed and Mount Shasta. The conditions became so treacherous that Interstate 5, the main artery for truck travel on the West Coast, was closed from the Oregon border to Redding, CA. Trucks became stranded everywhere, and roads became deserted outside a few vehicles and emergency responders. #naturaldisast...

5 MINUTES OF SNOWPLOWS/SNOW BLOWERS - 2022 CA WINTER COMPILATION
I enjoyed watching the live stream from the warmth of my house. Keep up the great work!
It's time for my cross country trip from Chicago and Oakland via the California Zephier. Such a beautiful Journey it is with this snow
Beware… the area has a history of cannibalism in Winter weather
Nothing to fear, worry or be concerned about. Today we just use Soylent Green Energy bars. So Yummy
Why do dum-dums travel in this type of weather knowing this kind of crap is going to happen. So dumb.
Oh i know i know. because they can?
Not fun..ugh but make the best of it
Looks like the Sierra cement we know so well.
Wow
Owo
Make sure AMERICAN SPECIAL FORCES saves more truckers, & bring back the spoils....make sure the cinema tactics unit brings back the Mpegs & Jpegs....we need more media for the smelly, smelly footed library......show no mercy , get the ones with stinky feet...we need the petrol tanks and freeway access clear.........enough of this clown show.....

These atmospheric rivers are man made by mad scientists.... stop making them to create damage and death...!
Actually, this part of California is returning to a normal weather pattern. For the past few years, the weather has been abnormally mild. Ski resorts have struggled to have a long enough season to be profitable. Snow packs in the mountains have been at historic lows.
Just went snow wheeling in truckke CA this morning. I got in a spot on the mountain my rear end started sliding off the edge and I had to winch out. I tried to get to Bowman lake if anyone knows were that is.
atmospheric river? wtf? must be a play on words.. like memory foam or covid.. people funny af.
So you're saying memory foam or covid are made-up words, like woke mind virus? Please do define "woke mind virus."
right? now rain storms that come off the pacific jet streams, which have been happening for millions of years, are "atmospheric rivers" not "storms"
So now an atmospheric river is snow to? Do they just make new rules each day or is this all lies? Imagine it snowing in winter in the mountains, I for one am shocked. What a joke this has become.
An atmospheric river (AR) is a narrow corridor or filament of concentrated moisture in the atmosphere. So yes, snow is moisture now too... LOL! Took me about 30 seconds to track down that particular bit of information. "I love the uneducated" Donald J Trump
@@codymoe4986 Just more made up nonsense. I guess being uneducated helps you to be closer and more understanding If you think googling makes you smart it shows the lack of education. This is the first year the new term atmospheric river is used for anything other than rain and furthermore it has only been used for the last 5 years. Made up words to keep simpletons like you busy on their high horses thinking they're correct, hopefully you never fall from said horse it will be a bumpy ride down.
I live in northern Calif. but not in the mountains. Received 9 inches of rain over the past 3 days. We had better get used to these heavy storms. Warming ocean will lead to more precipitation in the coastal states.
sure, bud. california has NEVER had heavy rains. ever. you're such a propagandized, anti-science, anti-mathematical goof
3 inches per day is not unheard of
@Ndw1995 We are currently at 246% of normal according to NOAA and other reporting organizations. You can tell yourself anything you want, but the facts tell the truth.
I was stranded in Weed California a for a few days and when the smoke cleared I didn't give a s$/t..😂😅😮😊 But hay please open the Mc Dees...😢
Monitor weather - stay in Redding or Medford
It’s a storm. They happen all the time.
Then why are you here?
Love this video, we are actually heading up to Shasta city in two weeks . We always stay at the strawberry valley inn every year. It’s such a sweet town and the people are so nice.
If I was a trucker or over the truck company I would just have taken the week off or drove the long way.
Put a CAT generator on that McDonald's and start cookin!!!!
You idiots actually think they'd be pulling triples in this shit? Morons.
Hi since you asked watching from Australia 👍 I love the snow looks amazing.
Is MacDonald's open?
Atmospheric river? Seriously. And who knew tractor trailer trucks arent that good in snow storms, I know im shocked, totally shocked. Its shocking.
An atmospheric river (AR) is a narrow corridor or filament of concentrated moisture in the atmosphere. The term was coined over 30 years ago. Seriously...
Yeah Timb, seriously!
I spent the summer this year in Mt Shasta, beautiful! Went to Yreka until the megacycone forecast, then skeedaddled south here to the Monterey CA beach. Yeah, much much better!
oh noo its the weed police 🤣
Does anyone have a super sized tow truck in this area??? Where's cal trans?
that's a lot of snow in Weed California... I've never seen this much snow in Weed California. I did not know it snowed this much in Weed California. I would like to check out the snow in Weed California, do you know if there is skiing in Weed California?
Weed in California that must be a chilled out place
No snow skiing in Weed California.
Idk,but there's WEED in Weed,CA!!!
How many times can you say Weed.
@@MrFuentepj idk probably a few more
Where is this exactly?
Weed, CA and Shasta Mountain -- just south of Oregon border.
Interstate I-5 north bound from Sacramento. A few hours drive north on down the highway to the north California, Oregon state line. Beautiful area!!
We need better snow equipment for the highways
You said your grandma saw lassen explode did she say how far it blew lm from Corning cal.
Wish winter was like this in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺.
I'll just call them Snowstorms and may use the word 'heavy' when appropriate...thank you very much.
I like Rex, the cop dog! He's a good boy...❤
Why was that truck with the trailer just there and not pulled off to the side?
Good to see you out chasing again. Hope you join us on Bluesky !
On Bluesky as the same handle, norcalstormchasing!
@@norcalstormchasing Excellent, I got you !
Awe I just saw the part where you met drax! I remember when he was just a puppy!
I ran that Valero for a few years. This happens multiple times every winter.
Who ever said it didn't snow there? What exactly is your point.
@@JoanneBeal1Not referring to the fact that it's snowing, I'm referring to the fact that yes we did indeed expect the Southend of town to be a nightmare full of trucks and stuck vehicles. I lived there for 10 years and I see this video and I'm like, " yeah that looks about right".
@@JoanneBeal1 His point is, they are making a big deal out of nothing!
@AI.reads.FlashFiction you're not referring to the fact that it's snowing but yet you stated yourself, "this happens multiple times every winter" the snow has to happen for the trucks to get stuck, can't act like snow doesn't play a part in it. I honestly just wanted to know why people on all these weather vids confirm past weather conditions. Thought I'd ask you.
@TinShackVideos I know every bit of weather that's going on in every country! Each and every last one! If I get to posting vids they'll delete them. Can't tell me a thing about what's a big deal and what's not! I know more than you concerning the weather genre! No one is making a big deal about anything, and people are stuck and help and plows are needed! That's like the OB doctor telling a patient "oh people have babies every day, no big deal, you don't need any help or special attention as this thing happens all time." Then that same doctor tells all the people he can " oh don't worry about this pregnant person, all the other pregnant people before her have taken care of this situation, no big deal." The point is rather it's worse or better or whatever it is, it is happening, it is a emergency, and it needs to be addressed!
Me and my dog camped in weed, close to big springs, in my motor home for six months. I'm glad we're not there now!
I used to live at Mt. Shasta…I now live in Tucson Arizona. It is so wonderful to be able to ride along with you. So beautiful…Thank you so much…
Thank you for sharing
Its a winter storm
You should state where you are every 5 minutes.
Why are the wipers going ? They are wipeing nothing, only hurting peoples eyes. I watch in Anderson CA.
That’s becoz it’s raining and snow-drizzling. It cannot be caught effectively on camera, and you cannot see it hence. But the priority is theirs and their safety is the ultimatum - they are driving while we are sitting and watching
really good presentation of what's going on. thanks!
How did the Beaver Creek pinery fare?
where do i go to see the pics that was taken?
Sad and scary!!
Impressive footage! And that sound! Unforgettable.
