The Mind Electric: Soul Master Animatic/GMV - Hollow Knight
After a week or so of plotting, reworking, and slight collaboration, finally it’s done! This definitely isn’t my finest piece of work, but I’m proud either way. I came to terms that my art won’t look as good as it did in my head, but I post it anyways because shut up, it’s good for what I can do technically. I collabed with @john190m for the GMV part: he edited his half, I worked on mine, and you should go follow him now because his GMVs slap.
I’ve always been invested in Soul Master, or Soul Tyrant lore. Despite being one of the more early bosses, he has lots of disturbing and rich lore for his part of the game, and as much as I hate playing through Soul Sanctum, I love its creepy atmosphere, enemies, and final boss fight. I wanted to use this song because. Well. Mind. And because I wanted the Radiance to taunt Soul Master for falling for her false prophecies and for committing mass murder. There’s a ton of stuff I wanted to add in (Follies and Mistakes being creepy, much more rot, the Pale King taunting him, etc), but I couldn’t because I just didn’t know how to draw. Still kinda rusty at this. I may refine this with another animatic soon, so this isn’t the last you’ll see of Soul Master!
