    Bravo! As an upcoming new artist on Spotify I totally agree. (link in bio!☺) Australia’s mainstream scenes are so bland, it’s like they’re all stuck in a 2008 time warp of ‘chill’ and ‘safe.’ Honestly, it’s like everyone here is just recycling the same boring sounds over and over. If you want real culture, the future is underground, and the only place where the true future of sound is unfolding is in Turkish techno noise music. I'm talking the raw, gritty, mind-melting frequencies that leave your soul screaming for more. Forget that soft, commercial nonsense - the REAL revolution is in the chaos, the glitch, the breakbeats that come from the depths of the underground. What I make? That’s the future. We’re not here to chill, we’re here to BREAK. If you can’t handle the unrelenting beat of Turkish techno, then you don’t even understand what’s next. Wake up, Australia, you’re living in the past.

    Well, yeah... UA-cam kids and similar "kids"-versions of social media might make it safer. We might develop social media that could block out malicious and inappropriate content. But I think a bigger problem is the attention economy that youngsters (and us grown ups too, of course) are being subjected to. Short-forn videos and brain-rot dopamine-spewing nonesense that is actually really detrimental to young people. This is an issue that the big platforms don't care about, and in fact, are pushing for. (Not surprising, of course) Making sure kids have proper childhoods via bans (but mostly via societal change perhaps) could be helpful to start with. And by societal change, if it could become a norm to not approve of kids being on social media, that might be positive. Another example might just be alcohol. Sure, banning alcohol has proven disastrous in the past. And restricting it creates underground markets. However, it might still not be a good idea to have NO restrictions, right? Any 6-year old enteribg a shop and leaving with a case of beer just doesn't sound like good policy. The internet and social media basically have no restrictions whatsoever at the moment. So, sure an outright ban might be hard to implement. But SOMETHING needs to be done, is my opinion.

    • @ParkerFloris
      @ParkerFloris 9 днів тому

      Agreed that there should be heavy restrictions especially when it comes to young people. Particularly with advertising and safety from exploitation. I also agree that in today's world so much is desperately trying to capture every ounce of our attention and that's probably not healthy. But we have seen trends recently of UA-cam having a massive swing in viewership on TV's ... a move away from brain rot content. Additionally, there are platforms like what's been developed by Dude Perfect and Nebula as a means to curate high quality, value driven media materials. It's no surprise they have been so popular. Yeah, complete bans rarely ever work, just drive the market into more dangerous locations. I wouldn't say no restrictions. The European Union has particularly been on their ass regarding a number of practices and policies, which extrapolates to the rest of the west because it's easier to implement the new rules everywhere, than an individual experience for each country ... usually. I think in general, capitalist-driven governments have assumed that organisations can regulate themselves, which they've proved over and over is not possible. But I do also think that an out-right ban is an illogical, ill-thought out move with significant downstream consequences. In regards to proper childhoods, I believe the entire education system needs an over hall, allowing kids more time to experiment, find what they enjoy and get good at those things. Not sit in a dark room for 14 hours per day, developing record high mental and physical health issues.

      I wish we had communist overlords, at least then governments would operate in our interests. But then again, the definition of communism contradicts that of overlord. Cool but why then does the media support Kamala? And don't the laws of supply and demand regulates the health sector too? And it's not only the department of defence which haven't given full audits, if I remember it is a total of 17 government departments which haven't. And it is in fact TRUMP which promises to cut down the deep state, if the democrats trully are the good guys then why haven't they done anything. And decreasing beurocracy leads to less inflation, and most people can understand this and that is why they voted for him.

    • @ParkerFloris
      @ParkerFloris 21 день тому

      Sure some media institutions like MSNBC have a democratic swing. But globally, Murdoch, his subsidiaries and sympathisers by far have the most control and influence. Laws of supply and demand are largely a myth perpetuated by those with control over the mechanism to convince you things will work themselves out by removing regulation. When in reality, it starts off well, quickly diving into monopolies and exploitation as soon as institutions have a sniff of market power. Supply and demand also doesn't account for positive or negative externalities effecting those not part of the transaction, like fossil fuels. Haven't looked into the other agencies, but I wouldn't be surprised. The DOD is notable though because of how much money is blindly handed to it each year. As you would know, promises mean nothing, especially from politicians. largely, he is the "deep state". All of his rhetoric in the run up to the election was in relation to appointing an autocratic regime. The dems are not the good guys by any means. They are just the less detrimental. Both parties are puppets to corporate interests. But only the republicans have been pushing for a fascist-style regime. Of course decreasing unnecessary bureaucracy is a good thing. But this is not what is intended. If looking at how Elon has handled Twitter just over the past year is an indication of anything ... things are about to get much worse. Also, inflation is largely (but not entirely) caused by corporate greed, increasing shareholder profits and corporate buy backs. The easiest way to bat at inflation currently is to increase consumer protections against this exploitation.

    • @elliotbacklund8529
      @elliotbacklund8529 20 днів тому

      @@ParkerFloris Murdoch has not much to do with this, you very well know that the media is against Trump, the New York times, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, Vice, Vox, BBC, Reuters, Axios, the Guardian, the Atlantic, the Economist, the Washington Post, Buzzfeed, all are left-leaning, the only ones that I can think of that are popular and right wing are fox, wsj, the sun and the daily mail, and you can search up theese claims, this is why people are starting to go to independant news sources. And then about supply and demand, you make a red herring, I didn't say anything about market regulation, I said that if an increase in the demand of public health services occurs, and the supply (doctors, surgeons) doesn't increase, then the quality of the public health service decreases because the queues get longer and the dedicated time to each person get lowered, furthermore doctors get exhausted, and because things like medicine become more scarse, the price goes up. Say, if 1000 people go to a hospital every day, then one day it doubles, won't the service then get worse? And then you agree with me that we should lower beurocracy. You have no proof that Trump won't enact the things that he has said he will enact now that he has the senate and house. There is no proof that he is the deep state, for the deep state refers to the beurocratic jungle which is the executive sector of the US government (outside of the President), furthermore the Democrats have not done anything against it. There is no proof that he has used autocratic rhetoric, nor that the Republican party is fascist, you don't even seem to know what those words mean, you just use them on someone which disagrees with you. Elon's actions don't represent the Republican parties' policies which Elon will enact, and inflation is caused by the money printer, not buy backs which are illegal.

    • @elliotbacklund8529
      @elliotbacklund8529 20 днів тому

      @@ParkerFloris True, but this is true for every party, and the USA isn't a direct democracy either, so pointning this out is just pointless. People voted for Trump, because they to a great degree agree with him, trying to say the Republican party is self-contradictory is false because the views and legislation of the Republican party isn't defined by the views of the people that chose to vote Republican over Democrat, but by the views of the Republican representative, i.e. Trump. If you want to point out how the Republican party is self-contradictory then focus on Trump's policies, instead of the make-up of the Republican party.

    • @ParkerFloris

      Except Trump is not the Republican party. They offer him no more loyalty. He has no third term. Unless they are up for elections in the mid term. The only loyalty they have is to their constituents, which many voted split ballot to Dems. They are the only people they have to appeal to.

My conclusion is if I was able to do it all over again I wouldn't have gone to university for the course, but I have some great friends and a now wife from it (also great 😂). It was always talked up to us growing up that this was the pinnacle, and we should all aim for this. But with experience counting for more in the workforce, it's not necessarily the way you have to take to get a good or great career in your chosen path.

But then the money is for the degree and when the degree is (largely) a waste of time and money, the math doesn't math. We were literally told throughout highschool that Uni loans were "like free money" ... until covid inflation hit with 7.1% interest rates on a degree that doubled in price 3 months before I got in. My friend has now done 3 TAFE courses FOR FREE ... and honestly ... that seems like the better choice ...
