I still remeber the once video i watched of yours ...reacting to med school parody
I started watching you years ago but kind of lost touch… so cool seeing you as a chief!!! I just started my PGY1 year in pathology :)
Where is urology in this video.
Your practice?
Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Erin! My sister is beginning her 2nd year of residency and is watching along with me! Your videos are so insightful and enjoyable, and you give off such a soothing, cheerful energy. Keep this up please! :)
Hi Eric! I wana ask you about seeking Fellowship in uro-oncology in USA. I had completed my residency .
Thanks for the video. Can you make a video about what you enjoy about urology: such as favourite procedures? Thanks!
Not a medical student and got all those questions except sinus tachycardia right. I know where and what your sinuses are and tachycardia is a racing heart but i'm not sure how they interact.

Nice vlog doc 😊 I am new here in ur channel nice to see here doc 😊
Hang in there almost done and time flies❤❤
1. The medical equivalent of googling your symptoms I guess 2. When you have family members having all sorts of medical conditions, you know this stuff...and then you start having them. 3. Holy gee, I literally winced. The very idea of putting something inside my urethera gives me anxiety. If I am to ever have a foley up there, I'd demand general anaesthesia. I'm serious. 4. When there are lives at stake this much of training is understandable. My country's medical education is quite different then the US, it might not be that long of a process, but we have mandatory service where doctors are sent off throughout the country (mostly rural localities) for a couple of years, and the process is like the residence described, you apply your prefered areas and then the government locates you. People even barter for their spots. 5. Reading our reports be like "which one was the good cholesterol"
Hii, thanks for this. You know how internal medicine residency has 1 week on and of, are there any other residencies like that
Lovely, relaxing video! Keep making these, please!
Congrats! Love all your updates and following your journey. All the best for the job search, keep us updated! 💕
Thank you for the video 💪🏼, can you plase share what urology resources you use during the residency ( books, questions bank,….) Thank you 🙏🏼
I have been out of the game for a while, but I mainly used our lectures, pathoma, sketchy, and uworld. I know there are so many other resources now, but those are staples!
so informetive vedio .. i will try urology in my Internship hope i like it. best of luck Erin it was enjoyable journey with your vedios and i hope to you the best in the future🤎
Your on call is wildly different to a UK Urology trainee, your weekend seems dreamy.
Yes this was definitely a less busy weekend, it really depends
Good for you. i loved your reasoning. And for someone who JUST declined a fellowship position from a mentor, your seemingly random (but very relevant) video helped ease my guilt and reassured me in my decision. Best of luck on the job hunt!
Can you talk to us about factors you considered in negotiating your first job, if you had any female mentors tell you about physician gender pay gaps/what you should be asking for, and if the FTC noncompete ban will affect physician contracts?
Don't you ever pray? It may help with relaxing.
Hey Erin! What is your opinion on Queen's University (Canada)'s new lottery system for admissions?
Im hopefully beginning urology residency in 1 or 2 years. This is rly helpful. Can you make a video on expectations / what to expect when it comes to the actual work during intern year 😅 / skills that i can work on maybe even before starting so i have a more smooth transition to being a full time surgical intern
Like it sounds stupid probably but proficiency in suturing after an RP etc , positioning of the patient .. things that can't be read easily in a pocket guide?
yes this is a great idea!
my biggest tip is to buy an air fryer +/- crock pot
This is a little confusing to me- my residency contacted us to apply for the Texas PIT permit (physician in training permit)- I thought you applied for the actual medical license AFTER residency. Because on the Texas PIT permit, it says that you can for example complete postgraduate training as a resident (so from my understanding - the physician in training permit covers you).. Also, how did you decide on when to take step 3? I know that exam will be pretty easy, and I actually did do questions throughout fourth year b/c anxiety/not time consuming to do 10-20 qs each day- but I still really just wanna take step 3 so that I don't need to think about it but I have no idea when it will be feasible b/c my program doesn't allow us to do our step on inpatient ward months and I still do not have my schedule.
That may be the only permit you need then! For us it’s a medical training license but I’m sure it differs by state. We have a rotation during our intern year that is easiest to study during so mostly everyone takes it at the end of that rotation. I do think some experience in residency helps for studying, but you can take it early if you feel confident!
You definitely have some time before you have to sign up for that. Can wait to get your schedule
@@ErinHaysThanks so much! I am definitely overthinking the step 3 stuff LOLOL but board exams still make me nervous, doesn't matter how many people tell me how easy step 3 is. Also, I totally understand about the medical training license thing now- each state has different protocols :) These were helpful tips! My husband and I will both be starting residency, so we have also found a house cleaner to start once we start res to come bi-monthly and got some gym equipment so that we have an in-home gym. Definitely nervous but I know it's time to stop being a perpetual med student!!
@@edream2513soccer The house cleaner and gym will be so good for your mental health and wellness! you're going to do great!!!
Just got into my top choice internal medicine residency :) I am definitely nervous about studying balance in residency, so it was neat to hear your perspective. I also had the same crippling anxiety about getting answers wrong from attendings. Would definitely ruin my day haha and I would think they'd want to give me a bad grade for the rotation.. obviously, none of that ever happened.
Interesting thank you I am a postdoc from Germany working now here in US and was wondering what match day is. Thank you
MS1 here trying to discover what interests me most. Thanks for the helpful content!
In french commoner terms, an infarctus is called exactly that. So before I knew "heart attack" I knew what an infarctus was.
Hi Erin, if you feel comfortable sharing, could you tell us if you did medication/therapy for anxiety/ depression in medschool and residency and how common is this because I read it’s pretty common but no one talks about it. Thank you.
As residents we only get 4-5 days off a month, it’s really not enough.
Need your skincare routine pls!!! your skin is lovely
love love love the vlogs! can you vlog in clinic or hospital?
No unfortunately I do not film in clinical settings
Love your vlogs and personality!!
I just wanted to say that I think your house is so beautiful! I love the classic aesthetic, and yet it's modern at the same time. :)
Thank you!! We totally redid it and I did a lot of the design so this means a lot!!
I have had the worst TMJ ever since starting med school from clenching my teeth... have you found the botox treatments helpful?
Yes I actually have! I definitely notice the migraines get worse when the Botox wears off
please more study with me ❤
yess!
Thank you Erin.
This is perfect motivation to knock out some step 2 CK questions!! Where is your jacket from by the way? Love it!
you got this!
Jacket is from Amazon lol. It’s like a giant snuggly
❤❤❤❤❤❤
can you do a video about gap year opportunities in medical school aside from research years?
Hi
Thank you for another great video! Truly helps put things into perspective for us med students who are currently on rotations.. I was hoping to ask if there is any chance you might make an updated video on tips/strategies for ERAS this upcoming cycle? Would be a huge help with the new 10 experience limit which was introduced this past year :)
Oo interesting yes I will try to do some research and make one!
@@ErinHays Thank YOU! You're incredible 🤩
I'm just in med school and I feel like I don't even have time to sleep 5 hrs. Like I know I'm gonna fail if I don't spend every moment of my life studying. Am I just studying wrong ?
You definitely shouldn’t have to feel like that! There is a ton of information and you definitely spend a majority of your time studying, but you should also have time to sleep appropriately and exercise and do what fills your cup!
I just want to say thank your for posting these videos. I am a 3rd year undergrad applying to medical school soon and your videos have gave me so much comfort in the path ahead. I also am SUPER interested in becoming a urologist so all of your videos are amazing! Continue being great!
I have interstitial cystitis and my urologist traumatized me. I don’t go anymore, but there is literally no female urologists where I live 😂 and I was so over my first male doctor that said the most unhinged stuff to me.
One of the most entitled, whiniest, self-centered quack I have EVER seen! Full of shit as well!
