Mini Book Haul: Buying Books Without Guilt
I really loved part 1 of the hungergames. Did not like 3 that much… funny
I completely agree about andarna leaving... I was hoping that since the bond was broken, violet would lose her dream walking powers. She didn't, which is interesting to me, hoping there is a lore reason for that.
I only made it to the spoiler free section and I got the reading tingles! I need to read thisss
I really like it!! It’s so much fun! Plus, dragons 😂
I agree with the Caraval series! The first was SO GOOD! Then it just went downhill forever! 😂
Everyone has a different taste, but the infernal devices…it’s a no from me 😅
I love the Hunger Games and Catching Fire but liked Mockingjay a little less, I feel like it didn’t really amp up the final war like it needed to. Then Ballad, right back to loving. I have high hopes for sunrise on the reaping
The First Law is a series that gets better. The Blade Itself is good. Before They Are Hanged is great. The last book of the first trilogy is AMAZING. Book 4, Best Served Cold, is A GODDAMN MAGNUM OPUS OF FANTASY 🤯
Thank you so much for the recs!! I’ll definitely be adding them to my tbr 🤗
@CrissysCozyCorner no problem, Joe Abercrombie is such a great writer. His characters are all twisted and flawed, yet likable and sympathetic. If you like characters Tyrion and Jaime Lannister (men who are kind of bastards, yet not irredeemable sociopaths and actually kinda likable), then you’ll LOVE Abercrombie. Shoutout to my main man Sand Dan Glokta, one of my top 5 characters of all time easily
@ YES!!! I love complicated characters and that’s why I loved Jaime Lannister’s arc in GOT! When characters are severely flawed, there’s room for growth and it’s so much more interesting that way. I am adding it to my cart on Amazon as we speak!!!
I don't think a book series with over 8 novels can stay strong all the way. Also i think you forgot to add "in my opinion". Since you don't seem to have the best taste. In the case of the hunger games I dont think it got better. It's more like a solid good story that had to be divided in three parts but with some changes it can easily be a big ass book. I'm just starting shatter me. It's interesting. Different enough to give it a chance but i definitely don't think I'll be reading the whole series. I hope i do. The world building has a lot of potential. But the romance doesn't quite fit. The girl's thoughts after all she's been through at the beginning are nonsensical and it reminds me of the clockwork angel. Pretty dumb. Difference is shatter me feels readable. Clockwork angel is a painful read. I was like finally omg when i finished it and i obviously didn't continue it.
@@Creepy_crawling did you watch the whole video? Because I literally say “I felt like” on every single one, which indicates MY opinion. Saying I don’t have the best taste is subjective. Just swipe and move on if you don’t like my taste. Also, I didn’t care for Shatter me from even the first book, so it’s not about the amount of books in that series for me.
Agree on shatter me sm I legit hate it
I just couldn’t vibe at all with it. I liked the characters though.
@ yeah it was weird like love Aaron but Jude was a whiny bitch and a few other characters were okay idk just overall mid and not my cup of tea
Hi, new follower thanks to this video. I just finished this last night. I read graphic novels, manga and fantasy novels. I have to say, I gave it a 5 stars and it sounded like you wanted to also. I thought this was an amazing story. Although, I do agree with a lot of the stuff you said. Carrion was definitely a plot twist for me. I have to say, although I gave it a 5 star I was expecting more to pop off with Saeris. The ending was crazy though. I agree with you on the Acotar relations but I also felt like Malcolm was like the king of white walkers in GOT. Great video I’m glad I put down Onyx Storm for this book.
@@kohnhead_3429 hi new book friend!! I agree with everything you said. I was bouncing back and forth on giving it 5 stars!! I loved everything about it, even some of the small comments I mentioned. This is for sure a new favorite series of mine 😍. Btw, the second book in the series, Brimestone, is up for preorder on Amazon, Barnes, and BAM but only a pretty deluxe edition. It comes out November 18th! I ran to Amazon so fast 😂!
Divergent also got worse as it went on.i love the first book the second one’s alright and the third one is like a whole other book to me
Yes! You are so right imo!!
Im new to reading and i wanna reab shatter me series, should i read it?
@ueviv I didn’t love it. What genre do you prefer?
I love Furyborn and the whole series is awesome
Yay!! I don’t see hardly any love for it and I can’t understand why. It is literally one of my favorite too 😍
@@CrissysCozyCorner Yes!
I read Once Upon a Broken Heart series at first and liked how it leaned into Fairytale logic and rules. And while everyone kept talking about how "bad" of a bad guy Jack, I was still rooting for him (and Evangaline) even if he was one dimensional at times. Then I read the Caravale and I HATED it. The fairytale/magic logic didn’t work, the sisters were annoying af in their own special way, and Legend weirded me out. It felt like the author was trying to shove square pegs in round holes throught the series.
I loved the second book, “The Ballad of Never After.” As far as Caraval goes, I liked the first book, but the other two were fine. I just didn’t love Legend and agree that he was creepy lol. I was rooting for Jacks in Caraval over Dante.
@@CrissysCozyCorner Oh definitely. And I feel like Scarlet's Love interest (ifykyk who he really is) was super forgettable. I don't even remember his name
The Scythe series is definitely one that got worse at is went on
Noooo! I was so looking forward to this series. It’s sitting in my Amazon cart 😭
I was the only one in my friend group who thought the third hunger games was the best one. I don't know what people expected. For the author to set up a rebellion and then never have the revolution? Lol
@@mandybeck4322 and the older I got, the more I realized how good it was!
hi! I js got done reading the book and i LOVED it. Ik theres other books in the series including the sequel and other added books and im not sure which book to start next. can u help me navigate through the series?
I’ve only read this one book, but I believe there’s a novella on SCRIBD. The pdf is free. Just google Better Than the Prom pdf. It’s prom night from Wes pov. Then read Nothing Like the Movies (I haven’t read it yet but I know it’s the sequel about Wes and Liz after high school).
@@CrissysCozyCorner okay tyy!!
The Folk of the air series definitely got better. The cruel prince was good but compared to the wicked king/ queen of nothing? Perfection ❤
@KING_cantbeatthisqueen I did another video on TikTok of the same format and included The Cruel Prince in better! I should have posted here as well. One of my favorites ❤️❤️❤️
You’re commentary on all the series is EXACTLY the same as mine
@@nugirl45 haha I’ve found my people ❤️
I don't know, I felt like the first Hunger Games book really had me drawn in, but the second book got significantly worse and I just did not like the ending. But thats just my opinion.
@@ThatOneNerdInCabin13 I think all of them were good!
@@CrissysCozyCorner Yea I agree! They weren't bad, I just wish the ending was a little more impactful
I almost fell out of my chair when you said shatter me for getting worse and worse
@@Claire-q6u the series just wasn’t for me is all. I can definitely appreciate things about it and understand why it’s loved. However, I love Aaron and Kenji and do often find myself thinking about them 😂.
I hated carnaval if the rest of the serie is bad I don't know what to expect 😭 ( I know this is juste tate i'ts okay if you like)
I totally understand that!!
I read From Blood and Ashes a while ago and didn't continue with the saga. The book was okay, but it felt like a cliché after cliché and got bored
It is definitely is tropey. I feel the same way but still like the characters.
Totally agree w Shatter Me!!
I know it’s a hot take, but I just couldn’t vibe with it. I wanted to like it so bad.
I told my friends that Shatter Me is a Wattpad story 😭 I try to imagine the author accidentally sending it to a publisher instead of wattpas
Omggg 😂😂😂😂!!! I wanted to like it so bad! The writing was probably one of the main things that I just didn’t vibe with. I only pushed through the whole series because it was a gift from my husband.
Before reading this book, i never really read books all that much, but after finishing it, i now love reading, which i never thought i'd say!! I love BTTM, but the sequel NLTM is even better!!
Did anybody else find that sometimes there was 3 dots to indicate a change in scene and other times there wasn’t? Or is it just my copy. I found it soooo confusing sometimes where the scene would just randomly change with no indication
@@edenmurphy2025 I will have to go back and look. It’s been a few months since I read it.
i don't want to rate my books they are just favorite or less favorites. as in books that were easy to read. like i struggled to read Lovejoy even though i like Lovejoy novels but i think because most of hte books i read are ya fantasy i struggled on first person person narrative and it took me two months to read a 200 page book
I feel like the hunger games got worse, I love the books but the first is definitely my favorite lol
That’s valid! A lot of people feel that way. I felt it was good the whole way through. I’m planning on rereading soon to see if that’s still how I feel.
@@CrissysCozyCorner I think for me its just because I like more casual scenes rather than action. But I love all the books defiantly one of my favorites!
not the ai photos smh
@@hearthearts23 I was trying to avoid copyright. I’m still new at this and not sure what I can use.
thanks again legend ❤
You’re welcome!! Thanks so much for tuning in!! 😍😍😍
The black top is so pretty and it looks so good on you! I love this video format, it feels like I'm in your head snooping on your reader thoughts 😅
@@TixaCarvalho thank you! I got it online at Vici Dolls website!! I love snooping on peoples reader thoughts. So glad you like the format. I’ve only done one other recap (Fourth Wing) and was trying to not make it so long, but there was just so much important information!
The Xaden picture needs his scar but I forgot to add it 😭
It's always fun to talk about these second signet theories, while we can. From what all I read in the first two books, I thought she wasn't supposed to manifest a second signet until Andarna officially matured, so I think your theory makes a lot of sense. Andarna "matured" when she finally developed the ability to breathe fire--as far as I can tell how the author defines dragon maturity-- and it was after that that Violet ran for the wardstone. All other hints from the third book, so far, seem to hint at "truth sayer." But, I think something else would be more interesting. 🤔
Absolutely! Truth sayer makes so much sense, and there is a lot of evidence in both books for that one too. Since her signet will be what she is at her core, both make sense because she wants to be faster to save her friends and she always wants the truth. Someone on TikTok said her second signet will be something we haven't seen before (as per Rebecca's comment in an interview that I haven't been able to find) and I think the clue of "distance wielding" being rare and not seen in centuries was something that drew me to that theory. We have seen truth sayer twice in the series, but maybe Rebecca never made that comment? I did see the interview where Rebecca said she made it obvious in Iron Flame what her second signet is and it definitely can go either way. I think these two are the more obvious hinted at ones. I can't wait to find out soon!! 🙂
@CrissysCozyCorner me, too! I'm excited to find out for sure. The "distance wielder" option would be really cool, but that one would be a huge revelation, I think, and you mentioned that Rebecca Yarros stated that the second signet isn't supposed to be as unique and powerful as her lightning?
@@minam.2730 That is true! I was thinking more powerful like seeing the future or being inntinnsic, but distance wielding is rare, so then that would mean it may not be that. 🤯
Also, if she isn’t a distance wielder, I think Aaric may get it.
@CrissysCozyCorner I, too, am interested to see what signet Aaric manifests. I think he has a big role to play in the upcoming books, and not just because he's a prince.
I think a book series tat got worse was divergent it was rlly good just Allegiant put me off
This is so true! I loved that series so much and pretend Allegiant never happened. That’s why I don’t reread it.
As someone who loves shatter me I agree
Even though I didn’t love it, I think at some point it should have been finished way earlier on.
As Good As Dead is definitely the best in the series!
Such a hot take, but I’m glad a few of us agree! I loved that book so much!!
I'm so happy to see good girls guide to murder series and I have the same reasons for loving it as you. 😊
It’s sooo good! For a YA mystery, it beats a lot of adult mysteries for me!!!
Another instance was when Violet rushes to the archives and Jesinia was like, how did you get in here? Then, she went 🤷🏻♀
I am the opposite with A Good Girl's Guide To Murder. For the last book, I didn't mind the darkness but Pip was acting so stupid in my opinion and I wanted to shake her and ask her what she was doing and to go to the police! I agree with the Hunger Games and Infernal Devices series. I sobbed at Clockwork Angel as well. Those are the only series I've fully read in this video
I can definitely see why you feel that way about AGGGTM! A lot of people like the first two books more. I think she did that because she didn’t trust the police or something. And yes! I cried so hard during Clockwork Princess. I know I’m so late to the game on those books because everyone read them when I was a teenager and I picked them up as an adult. I still constantly think about that book!
what about malazan?
I have that on my tbr but haven’t started it yet. What did you think of them?
I LOVEEEEE agggtm like it has became my whole personality now 😅 it got me out of a 5 year reading slump. I like all the books for different reasons and I don’t understand why people don’t like agad… like the darkness made it really good in my opinion 😅❤
My problem with it wasn't it being dark but that it didn't follow through. Like it still ends oddly happily all things considered. Also, high school forensics taught me that moving the body before the blood settles would not have actually worked, so that bothers me a lot.
Owww good point! I wish we had forensic science when I went to high school. I feel like we had boring electives back in 2009ish 😂🥴
It is literally so good! Better than some adult mysteries that I’ve read! I was so sucked in on that last book and was shocked when I saw how many people hated it. I definitely understand and respect their opinion but still love it!
@@CrissysCozyCorner ikr!!! 😊❤️
Finally, someone who appreciates Mockingjay for the amazing book that it is!! The first book is still my personal favorite, but Mockingjay is a close second.
I’m going to have to reread it to figure out why so many don’t like it! I just remember thinking how much I enjoyed all the books in the series.
@ maybe because it’s the only book without a version of the games in it, but idk either. Personally, I love how peaked the political intrigue is in Mockingjay and it has some of the most action-packed moments of the entire series.
@@ryanjstannard I think that’s why I liked it so much too! I always love it when politics amps up!! I think it’s so interesting and I have only appreciated it more as I’ve gotten older.
thank you SO much!
@@readbyjordyn you’re welcome!! Thank you for watching!! Iron Flame will be uploaded in the next couple of days!!
The Hunger Games ages so well Everytime man like why is it able to seem better when you're older.
