Professional's Choice SMX Charmayne James Barrel pad review
You are sassy and you ramble on, but I like your points.
Hi are the Thinline contour pad good for mutton withered horse? Thanks
Great review! What is the yellow pad?
Great video, but never apologize for not cussing.
Would Love a video like this about SADDLERIGHT!! They're expensive and have a lot of claims so I'm dying to know 😅😅😅
Aren’t you a negative Nelly 🙄
Saben donde se puede conseguir el antideslizante que va por debajo color negro ?
Thanks for confirming what we all deduced through logic but were too muddled by marketing and hype to find conclusive.
Where can i buy these pads, western style, in Europe?
Can you review the CE Shock Guard?
Thank you very much very logical and analytical at same time
Thank you. Convinced me to buy instead of 5 Star.
I'm trying to listen to this, but it's just not loud enough and not worth the trouble.
In the tolak what would you say is best the ortho pad or extreme pad and what is the complete thickness of the two please
Wow.
Very interesting! Thank you
I went and inspected my Ogilvy pad the same pad that the lady is evaluating testing the layers for breathability.. I could breath threw every layer not well on the memory foam but it does allow for airflow and a person would put a saddle pad under to keep the half pad clean and absorb sweat. I also did not think the bowling ball test was valid because this type of concussion is not likely to ever happen threw a saddle. The saddle would disperse a sharp blow. Memory foam is to smooth out contact not be supper springy. I like the half pad and would give it a good review. I liked the video. She made some very good points on selecting a pad so a person can make a good choice but the unbreathabe point is not true.
My jaw dropped when the bowling ball barely bounced!!
This is such great info! Thank you SO MUCH for making these videos.
Dressage rider here--Any differences in padding? I have always used sheepskin directly on my horses--not with a pad between the sheepskin and my horse. Does this matter?
Do a review on impact gel saddle pad please
Also....can you come fit my horse with a great pad? Ive bought 6 saddles trying to fit my barrel horse, have 1 that I feel is finally a fit (double j #11 tree) and I'm currently looking for a pad to compliment it! 😁😉
Heeeeyyyyy!!! It's completely LOGICAL to spend all your money on your horse's comfort!!! Take it back! 🤣🙃🤣🙃🦄
I can tell your views are set in stone but to compare a human backpack hanging from the shoulders to a saddle sitting on a horses back is ridiculous. Saddle pads of any technology aren't worth a darn if the saddle doesn't fit the horse or to a lesser extent the rider. The same holds true for a backpack, shoe, pants etc. Technology is great and I am all for the horses comfort but profit drives innovation in everything and thousands of horses with correct saddle fit and wool pads are in use on happy comfortable horses so why change what works? A wheel is round for a reason that has been the same for a long time
Wow good review on poron xrd. I just bought a felt 3/4" contour pad with poron can't wait to try it. Thanks
when you buy a cheap saddle, you have to be aware that you get what you pay for. cheap is cheap for a reason.
The saddles that she speaks of are very expensive saddles.
I m saddle pad manufacturer from india
Hey Jen, it's been awhile since I've had a chance to b check out your latest videos. I still love the info you provide!
I love your blunt honesty! Thank you! I have a super sensitive horse with pristine back x ray, great bodywork, fine in bareback, treeless, no girthiness, hates his well fitted jumps addle, OFF scapular, and does marginally better with his dressage saddle but still swishes his tail. I googled the XRT you mention but can't find anything for half pads?
What is that new material? Which saddle pads use new technology?
Please speak up! As for personal use, I've been very happy in the past with Tod Slone 100% wool, and my current 5Star natural color, which has caused no discoloration (bleaching) whatsoever on my bay roan gelding. I purchased a 1" thick 100% sheepskin saddle pad w/microsuede top to try something different, but have found that he sweats more and there are areas that remain dry. I also have a little issue with slipping, but not much. This trying to get my equipment 'just right' is enough to make me run for tequila shots!
fleece or felt? & why? thanks
What are the lengths for a simple riding rein or lead. I want to make one out of biothane. I have a friend with a horse. Indent really know too much about the size they would need.
Have you reviewed any of the air vests?
Put some of the foam over the mic so the wind will quit corrupting your voice. Lol
The pink is D30. It turns the impact energy into heat.
...which does not sound like a good thing...
What saddle pad that uses the technology of the last yellow pad you have showed?
I believe she calls it the exergy. When I put the subtitles on that is what it says. I don’t know what kind of pad has this material in it.
Lady, you have no idea what you are talking about... not all franchises saddles are made the same! Before you spew BS, know the facts of each specific brand and material used, don’t generalize by placeing French saddles into one group. I’m sorry, who are you and what makes you an expert?
Michelle Kirsch unfortunately they are all fairly similar although not 100% the same. Most French foam panelled saddles are latex foam injected as stated here. Also sadly Butet, Voltaire and Devoucoux are all owned by the same company now making it a pretty rubbish market for innovation due to the lack of competition. This is coming from someone who adored her Butet but it just wasn’t doing my tb any favours and this helps to demonstrate why. I think you’ll find she has a pretty well developed knowledge in material science and does in fact know what she is talking about, she’s simply trying to protect the often naïve equestrian consumer
*not Voltaire my apologies but CWD. CWD, Butet and Devoucoux are all owned by Lim
Good info - but just get to the point please.
My thought is that it squishes down and then it has no fluff to use as padding. 🤨I don’t find it works in bedding either...
Keep it up! I’m with you on this!
How is the breathability of that last yellow pad you showed?
Thank you
What was that book?
I think she’s holding up “An Atlas of Animal Anatomy for Artists” by W. Ellenberger and Francis A. Davis. You can get it on Amazon: smile.amazon.com/dp/B00COGXV40/ref=smi_www_rco2_go_smi_g3905707922?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1&ie=UTF8.
Love this review! I'm going to add that the 5* bleached my horse out real bad. He is dark brown and spent all of last summer sporting a saddle shaped bleach mark. This year he is in a different saddle pad and no bleach marks. He's even dappled still.
So, how would one clean the top of this pad?
Because you are wanting to sell you own pads..
Classic equine uses zoombang technology! It is sport/ medical grade.
Is dropping a bowling ball on them really a good impact test? I'm neither for nor against, but I can't wrap my head around the logic of that. a. If you're a half decent rider you should know how to land lighter than a bowling ball on your saddle b. Anything hard enough to withstand a bowling ball is stiff and digs into the horse. I experimented wit this yesterday. I have a Le Mieux X-Grip Twin Sided Half Pad that I never feel is as comfortable to my horse as my Ogilvy, but it would definitely do well against a bowling ball test. I tried it again yesterday after watching this video and it dug into my horse's shoulder, where as my ogilvy (gummi) squishes and actually makes more room for my horse's shoulder. I'd like to outline, no my saddle doesn't fit. It fits her shoulders, but not the curve of her back 100%. This is a project horse and until I decide she's 100% a keeper I'm not planning on getting her a custom saddle. Based on how hard riders usually land in the tack, I'd throw a soccer ball at the Ogilvy, and I bet it'll stand up to THAT test. Again, I'm not for or against, these are just loopholes that I found while watching. If the Ogilvy gets a C+, what correcting, shock-absorbing saddle pad WOULD you recommend (that won't dig into my horse's shoulder)?
It is excellent to show shock absorption. Of course that will scale with how hard you land in the saddle, but the bowling ball's weight allows for a visual illustration of how much shock and force is dispersed by the pad. Keep in mind as well that the shock the horse feels is not limited to just your butt hitting the saddle. Due to the hard nature of the trees of our saddles, and the basic physics of momentum, the horse will feel far greater "impact" of our weight at certain points in the stride, even if we hold our butts completely out of the saddle the entire time. Research shows that our "effective weight" - meaning the weight the horse feels from our weight + momentum - can greatly increase in a stride. Up to 2x at the trot, and 3x at the canter - for your average skilled rider this means your horse is at minimum feeling 350+lbs of force at some points in his stride! Pads do not have to be thick and stiff to absorb the shock of a bowling ball. I highly recommend the full sheepskin backed Thinline pads. They almost completely eliminate bowling ball bounce (and therefore disperse rider weight and shifts), and are very flexible, contoured, and breathable due to the sheepskin.
sorry I wanted to listen to this but couldn't really hear you with the wind. Hope you can do these inside next time as what I could hear was informative. ty
