The service charge has, I know, been rather an issue in the new build estate in our village, it's gone up already in the first eighteen months as it became clear that the Council were not going to take ownership of any part of the grounds, including cutting of the old field hedge that had to remain along the main road edge of the site, emptying dog poo bins, grass cutting, maintenance of the children's play area. Residents are fuming, but helpless..

Any advice on some who has stolen lots of money from some ones accounts, even though reports been filled nothing been done, more than 40,000 taken, identity fraud, & more, but no one is doing anything. Lots of evidence, including the culprit calling the banks pretending to be the customer. This crime was a simple taking advantage of a person by a family member. There at a loss with what to do, helping some one any advice please, Thanks

Hi Sarah Jane I am 70 years old in September and boy oh boy wasn't aware of all the various add ons since I was in the game back in the 80s ! I also checked out your twitter feed and see you have embarked on a fairly safe way to try and grow your money. I have always thought partnering with a knowledgeable investor and splitting the gains a good idea - but tryining to find a trustworthy person is virtually impossible. Someone very close to me invests in bitcoin variants in Thailand - he makes very good gains but doesn't withdraw them, so exposes himself to spectacular drops which can happen in an instant - take the gains out straight away - he wont listen silly man! 🙃

Keep away from stocks and shares ISAS, I’ve never lost £ 4,500 in just 3 months and my financial advisor said it was the Ukraine war ! Strange as they were falling since November 2021. Fell like a stone so we pulled the money out before it went down even more. Horrible idea.

Thanks Sarah Jane. Excellent information. I took out the maximum amount of Premium Bonds last week. I dont expect much, if any winnings. It is just a bit of fun. In all my years I have found residential property to be one of the better investments giving a consistently high yield, if one is looking to see safe growth.

My opinion I think the £25 prize is a sweetner and not out the draw

They can even get mortgages in your name.

My biggest win was £1000 on about £15000 of bonds. I have the full 50k now and definitely beat bank interest.

Same happened to me. Everything started from November last year and still continue this year. I noticed on my credit file reports, and letters from banks. It was very emotional at the beginning and I didn’t no what to do and what to believe, I lost trusting people and friends, believing like someone close to me is doing this, because I didn’t see any other way. This is not a good experience, I am very suspicious at everything now, and starting alert.

When I tried to look at my credit rating, the company doing it was asking for all kinds of personal information that I didn't feel comfortable giving, such as my bank account details. A pity our own banks can't do these credit rating checks, as they already have this personal information. Why would I trust some random company I have never dealt with before with extremely personal data? What is in it for these companies to provide this information for free anyway?

I would like to know whose using my identity do need go to the police station report it.

This sounds so scary 😧 it’s never been so hard to get access to your own money yet time n time again people seem to get ripped off by these criminals. The banks do very little to stop this I came close one day someone tried to buy a lamp shade 180 miles from where I lived and first direct contacted me luckily the payment was declined. Great video Sarah. When I get payed I take my saving out first then whatever is left that what I live on last year I saved 77% of my net income just living on £6271 for the year. Everything I buy I make a note of them at the end of the month total it up this way you can see where your money goes. Young people need to learn this but not many of them take notice the earlier one is frugal the more you can invest to make your life easier when your older.

I'd be very very careful when it comes to new build freehold properties with estate management charges. The fee is £30 per month now while everything is brand new, but what's it going to be when the road needs to be resurfaced? Or if the park gets vandalised? The management fees are uncapped and unregulated. They could quadruple in a year and there's nothing you can do about it. Mortgage lenders are getting nervous about this as the uncertain cost makes affordability difficult to calculate. Clauses in the freehold mean your house could be reposessed by the management company if you don't pay. Developers are glossing over this as 'just a small charge to cut the grass'. But the implications could be much wider. Any potential buyers, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Many new build 'freeholds' are just leaseholds without the ground rent.
