Hello, my name is David and I hope to provide content that you can find useful. I have prior experience as a county deputy in Texas and a former NRA certified Basic Handgun Instructor.
Additionally I have worked for local gun store. Where I learned quite a bit not only from my coworkers but from the customers. I also have experience hunting ducks, dove, quail as well as whitetail and feral hogs. Several managers at the local gun store have competed in long range shooting and one held a record that stood unbroken for several years.
Professionally I work with a software development in the following disciplines: oil/gas, chemical manufacturing and refining as well as insurance. I am a college graduate with a BBA in Management Information System. I am constantly learning to expand my knowledge from firearms, hunting, business, economics, gunsmithing, manufacturing, etc.
I strive to leave comments that are helpful/useful and from a different perspective. We can learn from each other.

Blued Colt Python 4.25", .357 Magnum
This is the current production Colt Python .357 magnum in polished blue. Colt introduced this revolver at the 2024 Shot Show which had nearly everyone talking. However, there are many changes to this version that don't match its predecessor. It wasn't meant to. It is however, more affordable that a vintage example.

A S&W 586 No Dash for $279? Believe it...

My third video on my 586 which has become my favorite. Keeping all the original documents, boxes and receipts can give any item a higher resale value. eBay sellers are asking up to $100 for original consumer packaging boxes and most are in very rough condition.
Smith & Wesson 586 No Dash .357 w/target hammer and trigger
Переглядів 4,6 тис.6 років тому
I just got the 586 no dash from my gunsmith. He installed a target hammer and target trigger that I picked up last year. That wide trigger gives me a very positive grip with my finger. I meant to say two of the chambers in the cylinder were out of sync with the barrel. Which can cause premature erosion of the forcing cone among other things. While performing the install he noticed gun had some ...

Smith & Wesson 586 No Dash, .357 4", 1986 Manufacture
Переглядів 16 тис.6 років тому
The 586 is a decedent of the 581 which lacks the rear adjustable sights. I am not impressed with the re-introduction of the classic line due to the Hillary Hole and MIM parts. I decided to look for earlier versions. The best versions for the 586 are the no-dash to the 586-4. If you stay within that range you'll have a solid revolver. *Correction:* This is a 1986 manufacture. S&W customer servic...
Thinking about getting this gun for Christmas 🎄
Just purchased my first gun ever, just like yours. I am considering a holster from El Paso Saddlery. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏽👊🏽
It has the worst trigger of any revolver I've ever bought and I've bought a bunch of them. I doesn't compare in any way shape or form to the Pythons of the 70's as was mentioned. The problem is that this one that I got was horrible. I fired 6 shots of .38 Special out of mine and they were all over the place. Shot the center X out of a target at 25 yards with a 686 no dash so it wasn't me. I really think the rifling was not done correctly. In any case my local dealer took it back less $100.00 and I'm happy.
I want a remington 760 in 30-06. Best do all go anywhere brush gun on the planet. And i only have 1 rifle with a scope on it because it came with the gun when i bought it. I prefer irons as thats how i was brought up, im 24 now and when i have sons ill teach em up the same. Even my AR is only running irons. For my own 760 i plan to use it as a truck gun/land defense gun. If ever i go to Alaska ill have it as my bear defense gun with a couple 10 round magazines which is made for these now.
Semplicemente magnifica 💪
I cannot see any MIM dots on the trigger and hammer, are they mim? The colt kc’s are mim.
Wow....What a thing of beauty....I am so jealous!!!!
Many great leather holsters made for this handgun from Galco, & they're affordable. I have been using them for over 30+years
Galco combat master
Good for you buddy I'm jealous 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You can make scratch easy it’s beutiful please careful with speed loader
Hey, you saw the cost of a new SW 44 magnum it can be $1450 new.
1791 gunleather, make sure to read the instructions because they come extremely tight, only leather I use anymore. I bought the Smith L frame and my pythons all fit like a glove
Beautiful revolver. As a Canadian, I can only dream.........
@@danbeasley6135 Move to the US were happy to have you.
@@texassportsman5880speak for yourself bro lol
I was gifted a 586 no dash4”barrel by my father in law 1986
Remington still makes this ammo however it is only offered in 20 round box instead of the 50 round the better to soak their customers for every dime.
Just gorgeous! What holster do you use? Good design in the holster makes such a difference.
Funny you should mention. I just bought a Galco Combat Master Revolver holster from Midway. It also fits my newly acquired blued Colt Python 4.25" barrel. One holster to fit them all. it also accommodates the Ruger GP100. I can carry those full size revolvers in this holster easily because I wear an XL 100% cotton t-shirt in either black or dark grey. I love being able to walk around with such a big piece of American steel without anyone the wiser.
Yeah, I can carry my 586-1, 1911, or similar in an OWB with an untucked shirt, no problem. Been doing it for years. Bought the 586-1 new in 87.
Rear sight sucks, Front sight is OK at best, but adding 3 ventilated ribs instead of the traditional 2 is weird. Sadly I'm still a fan.
I have a 586. Had a SS Python and sold it. The blues one is what I want 😊 Thank you for the review!
What version of the deer hollow grips did you get? 2nd Gen 60-61 or 61-73? Thanks
Gen 2
I just got my 4" blued Python. I really like those grips which are on backorder BTW they don't seem to make a narrower grip with a undercut under the trigger as my palms a a good size however my fingers aren't long. So ill see what Tyler grips has to offer or ill have him custom make me a pair.
I am the proud owner of a 1990s original Python 4 inch in the DEEP Colt royal blue. I have the box and original grips and I put on a Hogue rosewood unigrip. Feels superb in my hands although I very rarely fire it - for obvious reasons.
Try the Predator Pancake holster at Wright Leather Works, LLC.
The 3 vents grew on me so I don't mind it. Too bad they didn't keep the stainless steel hammer. It added a nice accent to the gun.
A Holster is near impossible lol. I might need to go custom.
I call d Galco they have one for $130 OWB for the Python, 586, GP100
Most local shops want 1800 sadly.
Yeah I paid MSRP of $1599 for it. There are lots of places that are still selling them for MSRP just keep looking. Interestingly enough they're selling the 4-in stainless Python have less than MSRP
I paid MSRP 😮
@@enricomandragona163 The stainless Python can be bought for less than MSRP. The blued Python will eventually be selling for less than MSRP after a few years.
I just paid 1490
@@terrenceoshaughnessy6442 I paid $9 more than you did.
Love the python, it’s definitely my favorite now, the double action is the best I’ve ever felt on a Revolver
Diamond D Leather, and Craft Holsters make good leather holsters. You might want to check them out.
Everyone is out to make a profit. Congratulations on being proud of making $800
Beautiful. Love the grips. Wish they kept the two vents.
3 is better than 2 !! Don't you think 💬🤔... It a vent!! Barrels get very hot 🔥
A 4 inch should only have 2 vented ribs in barrel my 1963 python is a 4 inch only 2
Yeah blah blah blah!! I'm sick of people saying that!! It's not about looks!! 3 is better than 2!!! Don't you think 💬🤔
Still a cool gun
@@enricomandragona163 don't care... you can hear it again. 4.25" Python with two vents looks better.
Beautiful gun and nice video - BUT you might want to get into the habit of showing a gun unloaded before you pull the trigger twice.
I hear what you're saying but I don't do negligent discharges.
Get A Life. Other than mamma's basement.
👍
If you need the target hammer and trigger for the K frame there is a set on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/256483282699?itmmeta=01HXJ8MF82A2PHW68YTZ0M8208&hash=item3bb7984f0b:g:myMAAOSwAoRmIC5j&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0DXT6vJCvypspquPJAAPe98%2FoSCSxGpFrXtjVwzrl9li8%2BJQbjO6lM%2F2He10xKDUN%2FIxy%2Fwsn094FiVIHruvKlrvBnFhvD%2BryE0q8oSFCG%2FhR8LM5TV6BKM9M3rzB%2BC8fLnXOVFZZ%2FMDGoiNHT%2FGc0UcstP8I8yu%2FRI4Vy1ZFTdKe4UrBoDrtnTFHkpfZv0%2BjjlrAgvJbxKmq%2FyKXHVDxtCx8QznlsCGfgfGKN%2B3rNPTMDhZwcgyIVzzTYPGW9hUd6BjgxtCQP05FKga7F1NOSo%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5j00cjsYw
Those who favor a Smith over a Colt, can’t afford a Python, new or vintage.
Couldn't be personal preference?
Idk...I owned a Colt Cobra classic (new model), while dry firing with snap caps, the internal part of the hammer snapped and locked the cylinder up...I sent it to be fixed and sold it when I got it back. Can't trust a weapon that will break...but I will say these new pythons are very interesting.
Lol dumbest and most ignorant statement ever
I own both. Mostly, Colt snake guns.
**Update** 05/04/2024 I took the Python out to the range last Wednesday and shot four boxes of .357 158gr SJHP ammo. I also took my S&W 586 No Dash. The Python was hard to control with the EOM thin grips. They were replaced with the Deer Hollow. While a little thicker than the OEM I don't believe they are as thick as the EOM grips of the original Pythons of the 50s through the 90s. I had to readjust my grip after each shot which is not good for a defensive situation. When I shot the same ammo in my 586 the larger target grips and trigger made it easier to control the recoil. I'll see about grips of the original Python or start using shooting gloves. Additionally, the narrow trigger with the deep serrations is rough on the fingers when shooting heavy magnum loads. I bought the Python to shoot .357 ammo and I don't want to switch to standard .38spl or even +P or +P+ ammo in an effort to do what thicker grips would do
Im a smith guy but would love to own one of these beauties one day.
Man! I love those grips! I thought it was an older Python when I first started watching. I just recently bought a 2021 Anaconda. I replaced the Hogue rubber grip with Altamont super walnut Python grips. I like yours a whole lot more. I'm going to rewatch your video to hear who the manufacturer is. I'll definitely get some if they are available and reasonably priced. Your Python looks absolutely perfect.
Deer Hollow. The link is in the description
My dealer just called me. To let me know mines is in. Thanks for the video
I have a 586 no dash, in nickel. 4" barrel. Beautiful revolver.
How is the nickel holding up? I want a blue one, but there seems to be more nickel plated models around.
These go for over $1,000 on gunbroker.
My Hogue stock arrives tomorrow. I also have the BX trigger and the same Leupold scope. Haven't changed the stock barrel..... yet.
I debated about changing the barrel. Green Mountain made it easy with pricing.
I love how the video literally lasts exactly 3:57 exact as the caliber 😂
That's a great catch. I never noticed how long the video was.
