Sea-Run Fly & Tackle
Приєднався 26 бер 2013
Our store has been located at its present location for 30 years. Formerly “Babcock Fly and Tackle” for the initial 19 years, the business was renamed in March 2005 when Kelly Davison purchased the store from Brian Babcock. Owner Kelly Davison, is a well known expert angler and guide, who managed Babcock Fly and Tackle for 15 years. The business name was changed to “Sea-Run Fly and Tackle Ltd.” to coincide with Kelly’s guiding service, Sea-Run Guiding. Brian Babcock remains a very good friend of everyone at the shop, and is still a regular visitor.
Mop Tail Jig Tying Video
A well-presented jig is tough for a steelhead to resist. Having a few of these in your box would be a great way to start the season. This jig is constructed of materials that provide life to the jig through movement of the Schlappen feathers flowing in the water. The worm like tail will is an attention grabber along with the added UV flash making this a real fish catcher.

Fly Tying Tutorial: How to Tie Trailer Hook Clouser Minnow
Переглядів 4255 місяців тому
This is a simple modification to a classic pattern that will increase your landing ratio! A Clouser Minnow is a great pattern for many applications where fish are feeding on baitfish. This is a fly we commonly cast for salmon through the summer when they are feeding in the ocean. The use of a short, shanked hook and the ability for it to twist and move around on the tailer make it tough for the...
Fly Tying Tutorial: How to Tie a Summer Stone Fly
Переглядів 2885 місяців тому
A nice “dry fly eat” on your favourite stream is pretty tough to beat. If I have to fish for them sub-surface, there is a pretty good chance you will see a stonefly nymph on my line. The bites can be surprisingly aggressive and a well-presented pattern such as this Summer Stone can be a hard thing for even a wary trout to refuse. I primarily fish this pattern in black, brown and a golden variat...

Traveller Sedges are a big meal for our interior trout and when they start to skitter across the water they get noticed! The takes can be incredible, and you don’t want to be watching the show unprepared. The Mikulak Sedge is my go-to pattern when these bugs are hatching. Be prepared for hard hitting aggressive strikes and hold on tight because this can be an awesome event! Mikulak Sedge Fly Re...
How to Tie a Mop Fly
Переглядів 1995 місяців тому
The Mop Fly has been around for a while now and it has gained a reputation as a “fish Catcher”. In some circles it is looked down on and thrown in the same category as the Squirmy Wormy or the Boobie, but in the end are we not all just trying to catch fish? Whether stillwaters are your thing or you prefer to fish rivers and streams, this is a pattern you will find to be quite effective. Make a ...
Jigged Sculpin Fly Tying Video
Переглядів 1636 місяців тому
Sculpins are on the menu of many a trout and char, more often than many anglers realize. A pattern like this is a great option to mimic this prey. This pattern can be swung behind a sink tip in your favourite run or stripped through a deep slow pool to entice a bite from the depths. I will tie this to my leader with a loop knot to get the most movement out of this pattern, in the hopes of trigg...

This is a pattern that kind of a blend or variation of a few effective patterns that work off of our local beaches and one that I personally like quite a bit. The mirage flash that is incorporated into the tail and the body gives plenty of eye-catching enticement to the fly and the polar bear and hackle combination can easily be mistaken for a krill or crab larva. Great thanks
Great video! How do these compare to the Vedder vest?
Thanks Mike! They are a similar design but the Die Hard vests are made locally, better quality material and much better zippers. The vedder vests are good but the Die Hard vests are just that much better. The Die Hards are available in the traditions style as well as the pin tail style
The reel looks nice. But if youre trying to get me to purchase it you may want to give a better presentation. Tell us some real life reasons to buy this not just basic "on the box info."
While you made a good video and presented the knot well, shouldn't you call it what it is "Lefty Kreh Loop Knot"; Lefty did alot for fishing and this is affectionately known as his no-slip loop knot!
Hi there Do you guys sell in your shop pre tied leader with hook and swivel Thanks
We usually do but we are currently sold out of our salmon leaders at the moment
I've been cheap and using fly backing in a nail knot, with beads. I think they hold better too
Why 2 split rings and 2 swivels? For the overall length?
Beautifully explained, thank you.
Hi Can we buy pre tied leader for salmon fishing, instead of making our own, will they work ? Thanks .
we do sell pre-tied leader boards that come with 10 leaders with a variety of soft bead colors and sizes sea-run.com/products/pre-tied-river-salmon-leader-boards

Will a mooching reel work? That knotted yarn is a great idea
it will as long as you can set it to free spool to cast. it may take a little bit more weight than if you were using a spinning reel or a centrepin but it will definitely do the job.
@searunflytackle thank you for replying. It's daiwa 375 spins really nice, I've had it sitting around. Found an older 10' med heavy Kevlar graphite in great shape at a thrift store for $30 . Never tried bar fishing, mainly fly fish / lure . Tried float fishing last year, didn't do bad, but others definitely did better, I blame my bait.
Great video, very clear instructions. Made it look easy. Thank you
Glad you found it useful!
Curious - why not just add the bead at the beginning like you'd typically do? Not a criticism at all - just curious as to what the advantage is to doing it this way?
For a smaller tie in point. the amount of flash behind the bead can make the tie in point somewhat bulky
What if a certain species like catfish isn’t named on the regulations? Would you be able to keep it or have to let it go?
you can still catch and retain those species and there is no quota for those species

Could I use a cast net in a private area? I’m 1.4.
If it is private in the sense that it is a lake that was built on the property and they stocked their own than you can. If it is a natural body of water that just has private property around it you cant use cast nets or any type of net to catch them, hook and line only.
@@searunflytackle it is a private lake. The water itself is owned. I bought a cast net, it was 123$ and works amazing, I just wanted to catch minnows, why are cast nets illegal?
They just arnt a legal method to fish in bc. It doesn't matter if the lake is on private property, if it is a natural body of water the province owns the water and the fish that are in it.
I always used seaguar 10lbs
I want one!!!

Thanks for the feedback!
So…..does 2 half hitches make a full hitch?
Have you ever tied this on lighter jig head to be able to fish on fly rod?
We have not but it would definitely work! just have to downsize length of the materials. either a very light 1/64oz compleat angler jig head. or there are head turner beads on the market (jig beads) that you can pair up with jig hooks to make a variety of different size's
Thanks for your reply. I pour and tie my own jigs. I’ve tied some up in in 1/16 and 1/64 and sent them up to another UA-camr to test them this early season and report back to me how/which ones fished the best. I told him he’s got a couple months before I fly up.
Great info, do they put out a shore fishing book? Thanks
not shore fishing specifically. these maps books cover both shore fishing & fishing from a boat. some lakes are just more friendly from shore than others so depending on the lake you might see more infomation on shore fishing than others.
Excellent video, thx
Thanks Andrew. Very well demonstrated.
Best fishing with Pontoon Boat and a 4wt rod with micro leech
Can you explain the use of 2 Split rings, when 1 will do? Split ring attached to lure then the swivel and then the siwash hook attached to swivel. Is there a specific reason/advantage? Thank you
We use a split ring between the two crane swivels to get the desired length for the hook to sit behind the hoochie. and then the top split ring in order to connect the rigged hoochie to the spinner. no exact advantage doing it this way. you could always use a bead chain swivel aswell to get the hook to sit far enough back instead. just the way we like to rig it up. Thanks hopefully this helps!
Hey great info; thank you!
No problem, Thanks for watching!
Well done my friend. Been watching a lot of videos on this lately and this one happened to pop up. Great job.

i cut my 6" worm into 4" and rigged it as you suggested; thank you. But what can I do with the 2" stubby piece of pink worm?
These look good. How will they hold up against springs?
Only time will tell
not a problem at all for springs! i prefer the larger centerpins myself when fishing for springs
Nice looking reel! What is the weight and line capacity of the reel?
We have spooled up a few and they take roughly about 50 yards of 20lb backing & 150 yards of 20lb monofilament. physical weight im not sure we dont have a scale at the shop. ill ask and get back to you though! Thanks for watching -Tyler

What vise are you using?
Its a Renzetti Traveler c2003 sea-run.com/products/renzetti-traveler-2300-series-vise
Do you ever coat the knot?
I often add a coat of Loon UV knot sense, especially if the knot is going to be going through the guides frequently but sometimes I forget. If I am just adding a butt to a sink tip I will typically leave it uncoated. Cheers!
Thank you, so do I.
Well...Ill be changing my setup🙃
Using a 1" foam brush, dipping just a corner in the U-40 to trim the top and bottom of the handle section, then dipping the foam brush to fill in the body of the handle with U-40 works very well. Let the application soak in for a few minutes, then smooth the finish with the brush to achieve a perfectly even surface. Let dry. I've used the U-40 for many years. Ron
That is a great tip Ron, I will try that next time!
Not much of a review at all .
Great thorough how to on bar fishing for Coho.I personally have never tried it but will give it a shot next season.Thanks.
Thanks for watching
Looks like a good time! I imagine you keep the clicker engaged while the rod is in the rod holder? Centerpin plunking looks fun I'll have to try that
That is correct. clicker engaged. Thanks for watching

Yup, this is the best pattern that works for me as well! Thanks for sharing. I love the way you put the robber legs in sequence! Good stuff!
Thanks for watching! appreciate the feed back
Thoughts on floating a streamer/intruder under a float setup?
definitely will work. depending on the water a jig could be better as its weighted and will allow your presentation to stay down in the strike zone. but no reason an intruder wouldnt work under a float setup. Thanks for watching!
Tying a loop knot to an offset eye meant for snelling...hmmm...I see trouble ahead...
Thanks for the video. I've seen other tutorials with quite a bit larger gap between bead and hook. Just preference or have you tried both and settled on this as the ideal? Thank you. Also, impressive selection of boots you have there!!
Thanks for the comment. i typically like to peg my bead about 2 inches above the hook. a bit of a larger gap than what appears in the video
Thanks!
