Zach....I hope you see this. I only discovered you recently. The 2nd time I saw you (on video) was your resignation video (at first...I thought you were trolling us). But watching today informs me you're a phenomenal interviewer! I hope you stay in the medical insights orbit because you're really gifted at mining your guest for valuable insights.

Congrats Zach on this fantastic project you pulled off. I'm a last year med student from Brazil, preparing for this big decision. Your episodes on IM and GS really helped me a lot. They're gold. I just had a great time learning the experiences of your guests as well as yours. Amazing people. Thank you!

“To be honest I’ve never counted how many hours I spent in the hospital ‘cause I really enjoy my job. Especially if you love being in the OR, the way time passes in the OR is just different than outside of it.” I totally agree. As a 4th year medical student, I’ve assisted 10 neurosurgery cases in a span of 2 months which is record-breaking as a student here in our hospital. I was able to do so because most of my classmates hated the long hours, a minimum of 6-8 hours. But I never felt tired and bored in any of it. Ironically, I’ve never been awake than in those assists even when it was post-duty already. It hits different when you look forward to things and see it as an honor rather than a work to be done. Alhamdulillah.

Did you say that with cure diabetes??? If we cut out all this subspecialty in healthcare, And invested more money in helping people learn to nourish their bodies You must really consider why “the subspecialties were forced on healthcare providers? Expand your own thinking young man you seem to have a brain now take it down further and less you’re being paid by Rockefellers send Carnegies in Excelsior.

I hate EM. Can’t convince me that entire specialty can’t and won’t be replaced by nurses. Really great at calling other doctors to report symptoms. You can get by without knowing much. Just shotgun every test and scan then call the relevant specialist according to the positive results

Yikes. I don't like elitism and I cringed at some of the discussion around schools and the very direct question whether it was worthwhile attending a second tier school. Like the father, I attended a Russell Group university (English version of Ivy League). The university has retained its legal name University of Geographical Location, but colloquially known as Geo Location University. Big difference... It sounds like the father did not employ behavioural based interviewing which can decrease hiring poor/unethical/ performers. Knowing the son has quit medicine, hearing this interview makes one wonder if he was preparing to leave at the time of recording.

Here is my PROBLEM. Surgeons are trained to CUT. They are Carpenters of the Medical World- and they can be amazing at that skill. It is a big stretch however when they come on and try to give lifestyle advice. They probably sat for about 4 hours of Nutrition education. Many Cardio MD's I know are not fit themselves. This country clearly needs to focus on prevention and not just treatment. There is no money in that however so healthcare industrial complex works in concert with fast food, processed food, etc., to make us sick very intentionally. Then they profit massively off of pretending to care- to treat us for ungodly amounts of money. This should be a crime. It's literally like the Devil saying, let me help you with that. Soulless. ua-cam.com/video/iGAwqsbhpPE/v-deo.htmlsi=nMO9P3U81IcVTqYo&t=45 My friend owned McDonalds. He was heavily incentivized to sell burgers, fries and shakes and huge sodas. He made 500% profit on those items. On healthier things like salads and water, etc., he lost money. It is all intentional. It's also the system. Ironically many doctors like to think they are helping people. Some do, in acute cases but it never had to get to that point. The really smart Docs know what is going on. NO effort is made towards prevention. They blame the people and their choices and lifestyle but ignore that the cards are stacked against them in the US and they are massively profiting from the evil system. I am wrong you say? Ok, then why does JAPAN have the lowest rate of Heart Disease? It is because of their system. They are not very intentionally being made sick with every meal. Same with France, S. Korea, Hong-Kong. Stats don't lie.
