    He'll never remember this lol Had my, 7 anchors on 12/19. Have needed it for 20+ years. High pain threshold and natural musculature (mesomorph) helped to naturally stabilze. I'm 60 and retired, thought it was time. 360° tear lol Doctor laughed and just shook his head post-op. I start PT in 4 days. Start home PT at 3 to 4 weeks!! Hot shower to loosen it and I try to increase the degree of scapular plane elevation daily and synchronize with my breathing. Good luck! Propafol is a helluva drug!!

      Sorry to hear that. Just make sure you do all the rehab. It was mentally harder than physically for me. Seemed so boring lifting soup cans and little crap like that. Then I ended up feeling like I was good enough and just went heavy. Now I don't have nearly as much arm range as I should. I throw a baseball like a douche because the normal form hurts. Stick to the rehab haha. Good luck! It'll get better.

      So I tore my labrum on my left shoulder about a year after I had surgery on the right shoulder. I decided not to have it fixed. I think the left feels just as good if not better than the right. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't rehab properly or maybe pushed the right one a little too far before it was ready after the surgery. I think if you stick to to the rehab it will have better results. My buddy had a stem cell kind of treatment on his and he is very happy with the results. Might be something to keep in mind as well. Good luck with everything!

      Good luck! It really wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. The most discomfort I felt was when I was putting my socks on and fell off balance and naturally tried to throw my arm out to catch myself. So sit down when you put your socks on haha. If you have trouble sleeping on your back, I found wedging myself into the crack of the couch (bad shoulder up) the most comfortable. Stick to the rehab and I think it'll be a surprisingly smooth process. Good luck again!

    • @kevinholker657
      @kevinholker657 5 років тому

      I think you could get back to that if you are strict with rehab. I believe it is about a years worth of rehabbing so you might have a "waste year" where you just throw nice and easy. One thing you could look into that injection treatment where they take your blood, separate it and then inject it. Still will take a year of rehab and cost more but my friend had it done and he seems to way more satisfied with his treatment than I am with mine.

    • @jtrain5615
      @jtrain5615 5 років тому

      A little over 6 weeks, and still not sure. My doctor says, most people make the mistake of trying to build strength too quickly. What he's only concerned about is range of motion. Strength comes much later. My job requires physical strength and I was back at work after 5 weeks (was going broke) albeit careful as possible. Praying I haven't messed it up, and won't really know until 6 months. My advice to anyone getting surgery this is to take it real slow if you can.

    • @vrrtvrrt5700
      @vrrtvrrt5700 5 років тому

    • @jtrain5615
      @jtrain5615 5 років тому

      Probably a good idea. If I could go back, I would be a lot more careful. The 3-4 week mark is deceiving because you'll start to feel like you can go back to normal, but you can't. There's sensitive tissue in there which needs to heal slowly. I pushed it too soon and now i'm regretting it, because even after 6.5 weeks, my range of motion is very limited. Keep your sling on as long as your Dr says! It will help to remind you not to use the arm.

      I think I had quit the pain meds after a few days. Didn't like how they made my head feel. My shoulder never really hurt when doing the therapy for some reason. It was kind of frustrating because I was expecting it to hurt and I would have to push through it but it didn't so it felt like I wasn't doing anything. It made it hard to take it slow and take it easy cuz it just never hurt.

      It's pretty good. I can go as heavy as I want with lifting. Throwing is a little different. I never really worked on that so now I throw side arm and kinda pansy like but I'm sure if I worked on it it'd be fine. I do notice a "sloppy" feeling if I lay down on my side with my arm under me. Other than that i don't really notice it. My AC joint never got to where i wanted it. That gets a little tender when i lift but not terrible. My buddy had the stem cell procedure done with his tear and he is super happy with the results.

      So I still can't throw normal BUT I basically gave up on my baseball "career" once I did this. I'm 31 with a kid so it wasn't the hardest decision haha. My throwing is more side arm and short arm and before I threw much more over the top and long armed it (center fielder). One of the guys I played with had it done in the fall and he spent the next spring and summer rehabbing and throwing short distance nice and easy. Later in the summer he was able to pitch an inning or two but it wasn't until the next season he was fully back throwing mid/low 80's.

      @@davediamond9111 I think if you stick with what physical therapy you can get it back to normal. I stopped going basically when my daughter was born and I had a lot left that they wanted to work with me on. It was a much slower PT process than I expected which was a little frustrating. Basically any soreness they would tell you to stop and I wanted to work through it so I don't know how fast they can get you throwing. My shoulder also hardly ever hurt after the surgery for some reason so it was hard to go with such light weights and slow workouts. I wish I would've stuck with the PT longer.

    • @kevinholker657
      @kevinholker657 5 років тому

      I would go in and get an MRI for sure. It's probably slap tear(torn labrum) or rotator cuff. I don't know much about the rotator cuff. I don't remember my range of motion being limited but for me my AC joint was what bothered me the most. I've torn my left shoulder labrum since these videos and the range of motion seems fine. It feels loose/sloppy only if I try sleeping in a certain position with my arm across my body but otherwise it doesn't bother me. This probably doesn't help much but i would just go in and get an MRI and that will give you immediate answers. Good luck! Also check out Athlean X on UA-cam for some good videos on how to train with a bad shoulder. The guy has a ton of knowledge. Maybe just certain lifts will help?

      It's pretty good. The only times I notice it is throwing something or sleeping. I'd imagine if you slowly start throwing and work your way into it that would be fine as well. The sleeping thing is if I'm on my side with that shoulder down and arm across my body. When I fully relax in that position it sometimes pinches. Other than that I never notice it. I kinda slacked on the physical therapy so that could be the reason for those problems also.

    I had my surgery on July 6th and so far so good. I as well had no pain after the nerve block wore off. On day 3, I started using my hand to help wash dishes, cook, clean etc. I started physical therapy in the 7th week after surgery and it's been going pretty smooth. I do have 2 catches in my shoulder that are painful when doing the exercises. I sure welcome the ice pack once my therapy session is over 😊 I go back to see my surgeon in 10 days, and they want me to talk to him about the catches in my shoulder that cause me pain still. They are not just sore, but are shooting, stabbing, sharp pain. One is where they placed the screw, and the other is towards the bottom of my shoulder blade. During 3 of my exercises, both places hurt like heck and cramp up in pain to the point I have to help lower my arm with my good arm. The day I had surgery I had no pain at all and really didn't want the surgery, but my surgeon said it wouldn't repair itself, and that it could cause long term damage in the near future. I am so dang ready to get back to fishing and mowing my yard ❤ I tried last week to push the handles on my 17 yr old zero turn and wasn't able to. The handles are up way too far. They are very small and in the exact place a steering wheel would be on a regular mower. Maybe, when I try tomorrow, it'll be easier for me to push so I can get this big overgrown yard mowed. At this point, I could easily cut and bale it lol. I'm glad to see that ur surgery was a success and with hardly any pain. Thank u for sharing ur experience. May God continue to Bless u on ur journey thru life.

    • @kevinholker657
      @kevinholker657 6 років тому

      As far as the process goes, I started off pretty slow on the PT. Basically start with just slow slow stretches which to me felt kind of good as if you were sitting in a car for a long drive and finally get out and stretch. Once we started doing tiny weights it was hard for me more mentally than anything. I thought this would be a process where it would hurt and I was prepared to fight through the pain to get better. It was not. They took me through the process so slow it was hard to put myself in that mental zone. Usually with lifting you when it starts to get hard to do you fight through it for a few more reps. This was not the case. They want to get 3 sets of 25 or a set of 50 with pretty much ease and slowly move up in weight. I can't say exactly how the whole process is because I ended up getting really sick from something that was going around and that put me out for a couple weeks. Once I recovered from that my wife had our baby so I never ended up going back to the PT. My shoulder isn't exactly back to 100% still but I think that is due to my slacking. Where it lacks is full range where it gets a little tight going straight up. Other than that the strength is fine. I was able to put up 90 lb dumbbells for benching so that isn't an issue. I think that if you go through something like this and stick to a solid PT routine you could easily get back to 100% or damn close. I just had a few things get in the way and never got back on track.

      Andres Jimenez I definitely think if you are disciplined enough for boxing you could come back from this.
