Hiya, my name is Amy. I'm a country harmonica player and guitar novice based out of Cleveland, Ohio. I might not be the best in the world, but I give it all that I got. I'm heavily influenced by Terry McMillan and by Japanese guitarists like Sae Otsuka and Hizaki of Versailles. I've been self taught most of my harmonica career, but I've been a student of harmonica virtuoso Todd Parrott as of July 2022. I'm also a self-taught guitarist (as of February 2023).

Slow Blues in the Morning (an improv in D)
Sorry if I haven't done anything for a while. I have been very busy with life outside of UA-cam. I wish that I hope to do more content as soon as I can. This is just a morning practice thing I did this morning. I haven't practiced in a while, but I hope to get back into playing again. I still have my passion for the harmonica, y'all.

So You Wanna Learn How to Play The Harmonica? (For Beginners)
Переглядів 2543 місяці тому
I was recently asked by my grandpa to help a co-worker of his to teach him how to play the harmonica. I haven't done an educational video for a long time so my teaching skills are a little rusty, but I am taking the offer. I have always wanted to help new harmonica players as I never got a lot of help from people who didn't want to teach me how to play other than saying "listen to records" or t...

Happy #worldmusicday, everybody! I actually recorded this yesterday. But I delayed it for a day because I was very busy with other projects. I poured out my own heart and soul into my playing like my heroes have done before me. I'm deeply sorry for not posting a video like this sooner. I had to get rid of some toxic people within my life whom were dragging me down. Harmonica used: Suzuki Bluesm...

I've had a lot of fun reviewing this neat, little harmonica and I was meant to do the review a long time ago. I really love the Bluesmaster and think it's really cool for being marketed as a "beginner" or "enthusiast" instrument. I really hope that it gets a lot more attention than just being a harmonica "for beginners". The reason why I compared it to my favorite harmonica model, the original ...

Sorry for not posting a video in a long time. I was very busy with my family. Hopefully I can get back at doing vids, especially with reviews as I got a couple of new harps to share that're in my collection, especially with the 2023 Golden Melody that I've been eager to tell others about. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the video.

Terry McMillan, in my opinion, was a very unique harmonica player in country music and there's nobody to fill the massive role he played. He had so much passion and energy whenever he played and he left a huge impression to the eyes of many. This is an example of Terry playing amplified blues harp. RIP Terry McMillan (October 12, 1953 - February 2, 2007)

I needed to take a break from online forums. I was bullied by respected figures in the community because they were being ableist towards me. There are some times where I want to be seen as normal since people think that my disabilities needed to be controlled. So I put my heart and soul into the instrument this time. Here's to a recovery filled with good luck. Harmonica used: Hohner Golden Melo...

Hi, everybody. Long time no see! Sorry if I haven't been posting videos in a while. Life has been very stressful for me as I got Covid, had to stop practicing for a while, and am getting bullied by older male harmonica players in positions of power (more on that later). I'm not gonna let myself down or be mean to anybody just because these older men were mean to me. I know it's gonna be a tough...

Hi, everybody. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas/Holiday Season and a Happy New Year. Here's a little thing you should know about me: I was very scared to try out the redesigned Golden Melody. I thought it was going to be very bad like what some of my friends experienced with them. But when I got this harp with a Bulletini that I got secondhand as a Christmas gift a few days ago, I fell in ...

It's been a while hasn't it. I've been picking up the pace with my guitar playing. I still don't consider myself to be a fluent guitar player by any means. As what my friend, Todd likes to say, I "doodle around" on it. Speaking of Todd, he was the guy who introduced me to this song and Bob Jeter as a whole. I actually interacted with Bob in one of his comment sections and he said I'm doing a gr...

Şuan elimde ve sesi çok güzel almak isteyenlere şiddetle tavsiye ediyorum gerçekten kaliteli mızıka
Whoah...your demo there blew me away. Love that tone. Im a piano player trying to learn.
I was gonna subscribe til you threw out the assigned female at birth bullshit. That has zero to do with playing harmonica. No one cares. Keep that bullshit to yourself !
Just ordered a session steel in the key of F! After watching your video, I can’t wait to try it out! Great vid, & great harpin’!
😎💙🎶🙌
He could really inspire people. It's so touching to see
@@rustler160 At the time, the rule of the Soviet Union had ended 2 years ago and this was probably one of the first times that a harmonica player had crossed into the former Iron Curtain since the USSR dissolved. I bet he inspired many up-and-coming Russian harmonica players at those shows. I discovered Terry's playing when I was a kid in the 2000s, but I didn't get serious about playing until over a decade after he died. I was introduced to Terry through his works with famous country singer, Garth Brooks, and there was something about his playing that made me want to be like him, minus the whole drug addiction issues the former had (which Terry was open about during his time being a guest on PTL). He had a huge, crying tone and could really make a harmonica wail and moan unlike nobody else that I could think of. Despite being a country player, his normal playing style was heavily based in the blues, but learned country ever since he became Chet Atkins's main harmonica player after Charlie McCoy started his solo career, not only in the studio, but for live shows too.
Wow sounds great!!
Very good and I am listening to your teachings to learn my harmonica. Thought I’d let you know. Thank you
Very good video with a ton of great information. Thanks. I’m subscribing to you channel
Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel. I'm surprised that you liked this really old video. This was back when I didn't edit my videos, so it's not up to par with my newer stuff.
Good to see you still at it Amy!
About twenty years ago, I was gifted a set of the hohner bluesband harps.. not the best, I think it may have been a bit over $20 for the whole set.. I paid more for each of my special 20 harp. I just say that.. cause I saw that you mention they aren’t the bluesband.. I think my set was made in china.. the special 20’s were made in Germany
Awesome 😎
How do you keep the to rhythm thing going while playing.. that sounds awesome..
@@kodiboz2436 It took a lot of practice to get the chugging pattern down, but I recorded it on my laptop in a DAW.
@@goldenteledy2002 I uploaded a video today trying to play I Saw The Light on guitar and harp… I am just playing simple melody, but would love to put a little chugga style to it..
Very good 👍 I like your explanation about the harmonica being very personal. There are so many ways to play it, as you so cleverly tell us and show us... Congratulations on getting your knowledge out there for others ❤
👍❤
Real bluesy talent
I own a special 20, a golden melody, a rocket, and a manji. The bluesmaster is more comfortable both in my hands and in my mouth than any of them. I do prefer the sound of the manji a bit, but the bluesmaster is more responsive and more comfy. In my opinion it is just as good as any other harmonica in the 40-60 dollar price range.
Totally agree. They are good harps for cheaper price. I got a set of Special 20 because I thought there was something wrong with my Bluesmaster key of C. Turns out there was something wrong with me. lol The only thing Special was the price.
👍💕
Terry is one of the best ever. If you’ve heard Garth brooks albums you’ve heard Terry ( it to mention thousands of other albums). Gone too soon
I heard they Harder too play cause of the steel reeds but what do you think compared to brass reeds on most hohners ??
From playing Hohner harmonicas all my life, I'd say they play similarly to a Suzuki Bluesmaster (which I own a couple of those as my secondary harps), they play just fine as they are OOTB but your embouchre and breath support might need to change a little bit in order to get a good sustainable bend on the 2 draw. The Session Steel also produces some good overblows like the Hohners too.
I play only so far hohner rocket amps lol but may get a marine band in G next . but thanx for advice.
Birçok mızıkaya sahibim çoğu hohner modelleri hepsini seviyorum denemek için seydel sessıon steel aldım ve çok memnun kaldım gayet profesyonel diyebilirim
I would think the price went down due to less demand?
❤
Love it!!! ❤❤❤❤
Ma'am you are wondefully talented! It is very exciting to watch you shred the Golden Melody with those licks!
My kind of blues! Feelin' it!!!
👍good job Amy McMillan
I see that Todd's got ya saying it too.
Wonderful job!
Glad you like it!
I didn't know that this man came to the Russia in 1993
That's more like it
I love it. I'm trying to learn now to play myself
Thanks. I hope your journey on the harmonica is one filled with a lot of happiness. During my first 3 and a half years of playing, I had to learn everything myself and felt like I had no support to help guide me to the sound I always dreamed of. That's why in July of 2022, I started taking lessons with somebody who is now a very good friend of mine named Todd Parrott. He is incredibly nice and has helped me so much to get the bluesy country/gospel sound that Terry McMillan had. I recommend Todd to the moon and back for any beginner who's starting out and trying to figure out their musical identity.
Love it! Proud of you.
Thanks.
You sound terrific, Amy! Terry sure would be proud! Hang in there!
Nice job!!
Great playing 🤠
Some really good phrasing! Keep working the 2 & 3 draw bend intonation to tighten it up a bit. Great playing 👏
Interesting! They sound a lot more different than I thought! Gotta say, I prefer the old ones. Thanks!
Brilliant
this is tube or transister amp? Amy
The Fender amp that I own is Solid State. But that isn't a bad thing at all.
The classic sounds better but you may have it more broken in to you.
Yeah, almost as good as a custom harp.
So interesting - like them both but like the second one more- you are so super good at playing -So which is the Ist and 2nd - Merry Christmas
The first one is the redesign, the second one is a classic Golden Melody.
Wow, that was awesome!
I just came across this, thank you for sharing! I've been suprised by the bluebird just recently. I don't plan on going all out and getting a whole set, but it's a great one to have handy.
I like the final one
Great! Wants me some red beans & rice! LOL
What an awesome improvisation! ❤
How about hohner juke harp harmonica limited edtion
I don't own one. I can't make a review if I don't already have one.
