Hey Carl, I like your new mic setup. I started my own spin off YT channel now to match my Instagram and so that Theresa can focus on cookies & such. I’d 100% try this cocktail. Sign me up! - Cam
You are wrong...the higher the micron number, the bigger the holes. The lower the micron, the more it strains. The higher the micron number, the more pulp/particles pass through.
Awesome thanks.
thank you, I bought Tanquery for a sweet cocktail thinking I just needed a dry gin but and didn't understand why it was so strong (and imo not tasty). Now I know!
cat hair in your drink?
Always when you have 3
Delicious! My wife hates mezcal and she liked it. I used store bought carrot juice and assumed it was no more acidic than dragon fruit, which is on my acid adjusting spreadsheet: 200g carrot juice, 7.1g citric acid, 3.48g malic acid.
Oh nice. I bet store bought carrot juice is more consistent then juicing every time.
This week, I finally caught up on your podcast... I saw those two hour long episodes and thought that I just didn't have time for that and fell behind... Now that I'm caught up you reward me with this? I would have caught up sooner if it meant getting something like this earlier! eh, but it had to time with fall...
First thanks for listening, second had to wait till October. I think I have some other cocktails coming up that you will enjoy........
this is interesting. Like the idea of pH balancing the juice. I think my wife would love this drink. cheers
Go make it for her and let me know what she thinks 😁
Interesting. I am going to go for Rob's smoked Manhattan riff but this is cool. Fallish and peated scotch are right up my alley!! Go easy! Cheers!
Haha I get that. 😁
@@carl_busch 🙂
that looks delicious! gotta try that ph adjusted carrot juice! cheers Carl
It seems you have a scotch cocktail I need to try.
Looks delicious!
Thanks
Looks good
It really is
I didn't realize eating carrots with a dip was "some bullshit" 😆
The more you know 😜
So few drinks with carrot juice. Plays so well with many spirits
It really does. Should be in more cocktails
Looks killer!
Thanks. Hope you give it a try.
Nice one Carl 🎃
Thanks Chappy.
I'm not trying to be mean or anything but you look 20 50 and 2 years old all at the same time
Thank you kind person
@@carl_buschlol I think it's mostly the lighting and camera angle
I can tell you from experience that “tasting” vs “class” makes a big difference in marketing an in-store event. Given you want to educate them on rum and not just have them try something a brand is pushing, it’s important to convey that. Might not be the magic bullet but it was a big shift for me when I started hosting in-store events. At least this is the feedback I got once I changed the language. Good luck on future ones!!
That's a great idea using the word Class instead of Tasting. Thanks bud.
I wouldn't trash the event i would keep it and try it again. Maybe marketing wasn't great, or people didn't realize how great it. It sounds awesome I wouldn't scrap it though
I am 100% going to do it again. Just try a different approach.
Don Julio reposado is so expensive people need to stop buying it so it will go down
If we could only make that happen with everything
Anyone else saw the thumbnail and thought it was William Zabka at first?
Hahaha
Some great insights Carl. I can totally relate to everything you mention , sometimes in my business I feel like I'm a jack of all trades but a master of none! I still haven't mastered time management either , I feel that it is always a constant battle but always try and take a little bit of time for myself. Loved this video.
I am feeling the same way about the jack of all trades.
You kinda look like Daniel Craig
If only. 😁
@@carl_busch hey man reach for the stars.
Dude this was so insightful - and I feel like all of these things can apply to many different facets of everyday life, owning a wine shop or not! Genuinely helpful video, and really great to hear about your recent exploits 💪🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Learning to say no is such a big one.. I’ve always said yes to too much and then everything suffers as a result.
I have noticed the suffering in past parts of my life from saying yes too much but I'm trying to keep that under control in this adventure. I can only imagine all the things you get asked, probably something as silly as being on a podcast. ;)
@@carl_busch hahaha, that’s something I enjoyed though so it was an easy yes :)
We of course appreciate it ☺️🙏
You know these videos are a form of journaling, which is so beneficial to your mental health and your life goals. A form of reflection that allows you to see the picture without being inside of it. This is great for your viewers but even better for you. Love this and love what you’re doing, my brother! ❤
I never thought of them as journals. Thanks for that Coach. Cheers my friend.
I am loving this new series into the wine shop. Love the listening to feed back/ saying no. Working in ma and pa shops people do like playing pretend owner, but sometimes there on to something
Thanks Gnome. Sometimes they are. :)
We get people coming up to us while outside putting Halloween decorations trying to sell services... I always ask them, would you hire a company from some stranger just showing up at your house? They panic for a second and some say yes, but then I tell them to get the F off my property after we tried to dismiss them nicely... Saying no is so important and very tough for me to do too... Time has been my number one worst thing lately... Haven't even listened to your podcast since August... Because I want to actually listen, not background conversation, and just not enough time or not in the right mindset... Proud of you though!
It's very tough to say No. All we can do is try to keep improving. I wish I had more time to listen to podcasts, not as background noise, too. Cheers buddy
Cool! Hey miss your cocktails! Lol! Time mgt is difficult for sure! Exercises to strengthen executive functioning in the brain helps! Lots of booze worsens EF! Cheers!
I got a great Halloween cocktail for the next video planned ,😁
Great to hear how it's going and your passion! Likely some challenges ahead, but sure when is anything worth having easy?
Exactly right. Hope you guys are doing well.
We often have Akevitt at Christmas times.. When we have Fatty food, it is actually good for your stomach.. Or is it an excuse? You pronounced Høvding like a native.. Like you upload.. Takk.
I think I will be drinking more this holiday season. Cheers.
i got like 5 ways of making it so far!
OOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Booze is cheap where you live. In Australia Those rums are around AU$40 enjoy your extremely cheap booze
We sure will :)
That's awesome. For what it's worth, since you're now a wine retailer, what this world really needs is vermouth that comes in bottles of less than 375 ml. That's because a person making drinks at home, who doesn't make the same thing every time, is going to see a bottle of vermouth turn sour before it's used up. So the value of a bottle is based on the amount of time it'll last in the refrigerator, not the price per ounce.
I totally get that for sure. I know anticaia makes a 50 ml bottle
@@carl_busch I like Carpano's dry and sweet vermouths.
Good for you man, do what you want to do!
I'm trying to 😊
That’s awesome Carl! Looking forward to videos about the business!! Cheers!
Thanks rob. Appreciate it.
I can imagine a spirit store! I used to be into wine! Orange wine is lovely. 🥰 Moderation!
Orange wine isnt super popular here but we are educating
Emo Adolph
Exactly what I was going for
Running a business always sound like a challenge, but when it is what is your passion and what you like to do, people say, is quite a good combo for. success. You have proved you know what you are doing so I am sure this journey will be a new hit. So what I only can say is Congratulations on having the courage of making this step and I will be glad to see more videos on how you progress through this journey. I know we do not talk often, but I am really happy about you. Cheers!
Thanks so much Peter. Hope you are doing well
as the Place which originated Gin...im saying England here! We have 2 distinct styles London Dry & Plymouth dry. Notwithstanding the pictures of London as portrayed by Hogarth in 1751 by "Gin Lane" which showed London in its Gin-ravaged age. Fast forward to the 21st Century, and we have a wealth of distilleries making Gin, its fast to brew & distill, requires no Age statements, no barrel aging and you just have to dunk in a whole load of botanical. Beefeater, Tanquerey, Bombay Sapphire, Gordon's, Gibleys, Plymouth Gin, Booths, Sipsmith, Hendricks, Martin Millers, Greenalls, Finsbury, Oxford, Drift, Stones, Lord's, and a host of more modern gin Distillers have abounded with their own fans and flavour profiles. Find the few you like and stick with what you like. Be safe & Stay salty
It's a fun category to explore and see what people are doing.
And now you get to experience what it's like to own a business that's tangentially related to your business. Its a super power, when people who follow you come in it will give you such a great boost. At least it is for me.
I am looking forward to growing this channel talking abut the biz and seeing if it can draw people to come to Dubuque.
My friend! Congratulations! That's such an awesome step for you!! Wishing you all the best of luck and I can't wait to see what you do!
Thanks so much Lui, I really do appreciate it.,
Congratulations on your new venture!
Looking forward to these vids!! 🎉🎉
Thanks Steve. I can't wait to share.
I think this will be so good for you. I can't wait to see how you grow your business and where it takes you! Proud of you!!!
Appreciate the kind words David.
Super exciting!!!!!
Very! Thanks Tim.
Vlogging your entrepreneurial journey in the beverage business is a great idea. It’s a behind the scenes that is rarely, if ever, shared. Congrats, brother! I know how much this means to you, how hard you’ve worked to get here and how much you’ve been through. Cheers to a lifetime of success! 🥂
Hey Coach. I appreciate it. I'm excited for this chapter.
Congrats from Colorado. Met you in Debuque and saw you in Dyersville at 7 hills west.
Cheers Colorado. Thanks for watching.
This is very cool Carl. Been following this journey over on your Insta. I love the idea of a hybrid wine shop that also can serve cocktails. Great concept. I have done cocktail lists for a few wineries here in Australia using the wines in cocktails . I'm happy to share a few recipes!
Ohh nice. It's a fun spin coming up with wine cocktails.
@@carl_busch It is! I have a great Espresso Martini recipe using Muscat!
Congrats I'm super excited for you! Really want to visit
Thanks Gnome. Would love to have you up here.
Congrats!!!!
Thanks buddy.
