Spark GO sound test...you know, with the actual speaker. Playing cold, not warmed up, so there's that:) Verdict, it's awesome...sounds great for what it's meant to be used for...practice. The ease of use, portability, interface, app, with headphones, you can't beat it. Presets "GO Clean" "GO Gritty Slap" "GO Dirty Blues" "GO 80's Lead" *each one has a tag with my name on it, #simonpeek I'm not ...

I've always loved this song and it was quite a challenge to learn. This was a fresh learn...so mistakes happened:) Apologies for the sound quality...just my phone and a touch or reverb I added. I also had to drop the key because...well, Cornell's range is not something easy to accomplish:) So, standard tuning with a capo on first fret for me. The original key is with a capo on 3rd fret. How is it as a bluetooth speaker? After seeing this, I'm debating between buying Spark Go or Fender Mustang Micro Plus which I can use with headphones or I can plug it into my Bose Revolve speaker
Sounds great. What an ace time to be a bedroom guitarist
Dude!
How's the sound when listening to music, I plan to use it as a computer speaker also.
It's not bad, but not great. With it being as small as it is, it does lack low end. I mean, it will work in a pinch, but the Spark Mini may be a little better and louder for a PC speaker. To be honest, I've only tried running music through it very briefly, just to see what playing along with something would be like.
strong cover!
Thank you so much!!
Nice sound review! So many UA-cam channels have reviewed this small, portable, practice amp and they all complain that it doesn’t sound like a huge Marshall stack! 🤔😂
I know! It wasn't made to fill those shoes! I actually appreciate how low I can get the volume and retain a decent sound. I've never been a fan of playing guitar through headphones...this little guy helps. Also, depending on the sound you go with, it's surprising how loud it can get for what it is!
@@simonpeek37 I pre-ordered a Spark Go and received it today. No problem setting it up. Really looking forward to trying out it’s features over the weekend! 👍
@@Planet-Bertie Awesome! I never thought I'd jump into a whole series of amps from a particular brand...but here we are:)
@@simonpeek37 Good man! The Spark Go is an excellent wee beastie 👍
Nice! Can you do one for the acoustic guitar pretty please?! Cheers!
I'll see what I can do! That would be interesting because I think the full volume of an acoustic might be louder than the amp. Regardless, if I can pickup some pancake batteries for the acoustic, I'll give it a shot:)
1:56 Oops!!😂
LOL! Oh, I'm aware. I love doing that occasionally...and quarter bends, it drives people crazy. Ending one fret off adds suspense...or anxiety, haha.
Your hand is huge 😄
LOL! The amp's just tiny...OR IS IT!?
@@simonpeek37 This is what Shaquille O'Neal will say?
You know what they say about big hands. Big gloves
Plays SRV and Whitesnake in same video....instant like.
I just got mine today. Straight away I need to update firmware. I don’t have a computer to do this and firmware cannot be updated by Bluetooth, iPhone or iPad. What the F??? I now have to buy a computer to update the firmware????
That is something that concerned me. I'm hoping they will create a way to perform a firmware update via the app. I tried to see if I could find a work around, but it seems as for right now, a PC is needed to update the firmware. I wouldn't say you HAVE to buy a computer...I'm sure someone you know may have one you could use...takes maybe 10 mins.
@@simonpeek37 Thanks for the reply Simon. I’m travelling, that’s why I got the GO amp. So in a couple months I’ll see a friend in Phoenix who has a computer. Meanwhile I have a headless guitar and a different headphone amp to use. There was other issues with Positive Grid that were not good. Also they have zero customer support directly. There are search suggestions that run you around in circles. They used a lame courier company called UniUni that also had zero customer support who left the delivery beside my apartment elevator in a 19 story building. Not at my door or mailroom as indicated. I rarely complain but this time I thought maybe it will help someone else decide about their possible purchase, I won’t deal with this company again ever.
@@kerryfromaj9032 Mine asked to update firmware, but I didn't do it, and it works fine.
@@gillandcleveford5925 Hi Gilland. Thanks for the reply. Most of mine now works well enough until I update when I’m back in Phoenix to a computer. It looks like the tone and speaker tone adjustment defaults to “requires firmware update” and this should really help the bluetooth speaker sound, later. For some reason originally it would not connect properly asking for firmware update but it is ok now and I got it working well yesterday. So today I used it for headphone practice and mono out into a large guitar amp. I’m surprised how good it sounds, I have a large effects pedal collection at home and this will easily do the same job I think.
@@gillandcleveford5925 Thanks for sharing! I just ordered one and when I read there was a firmware issue I slightly panicked 😂 but I'll get sorted when I have computer access
At least yours is working. Sounds awesome! Great demo! Mine won’t charge back up after running it down. Waiting on a response from positive grid. Hoping that they can acknowledge and resolve so I can play again. Time to go back to my 40.
Oh no! I hate to hear that! Hopefully, they well have a response soon. Will it work plugged in? If so, if you haven't already, you could try the firmware update? Not sure that has anything to do with the charging issue...either way, I hope it gets sorted out.
I'm amazed how little Positive Grid is caring about their customers. Almost every single unit I've seen has had an issue.
Nice demo man! I just got mine in the mailbox yesterday. The Top Gun song had me going
Haha, thanks!! Yeah, played 2 notes that reminded me of it...had to throw it in there...with the "wrong" suspense note.
It was extra suspenful
Best live thru mic'd speaker demo yet.
Thanks! It was the phone camera/mic:) Galaxy Note 22 Ultra, propped up, hit record.
I tried the same experiment, as I play mostly down tuned and baritone. They are credible platforms for both more traditional and more unique sounds, - especially combined with pedals and various pre amps.Good choice for a 2 amp set up, handling those lows, and re voicing the rest to add some underlying depth of field.Very light, compact, and dirt cheap.Would be a good choice to build a sound more your own.
Absolutely! Even when I first started playing, I would always try to find a little practice bass amps rather than the "guitar" practice amps. When they're that small, the bass platform just seems to do better and handle more:)
nice cover mate! one of my favorite SRV songs ever! I just covered it too (: could you take a look at it? I would be infinitely grateful❤️
Awesome playing! If I was to put a modeling pedal in front of this, do you think it would sound decent? I'm debating between a Rumble and FRFR. Want to be able to play bass or guitar through the same unit. Thanks!
Sorry for the late response! Yes, I did just that when I was gigging and jumping between instruments:) It was mostly clean guitar sounds and it did very well. As long as you take the time to adjust the modeling pedal's eq and levels going in it should be great! I typically adjusted the amp's eq to the bass tone I wanted and counteracted the bass setting/level with the guitar pedal's eq.
@@simonpeek37 thanks! If this does well with clean sounds, then nobody will notice if the dirty sounds are off a bit. Having one amp to use with either will be easy on the pocket book and storage space. I'm also considering a Headrush 108 powered speaker. It can handle the bass, no problem, but have heard that bass can make it clip at high volume. So a real bass amp, for bass and guitar, might be a good fix.
Absolutely! Bass amps typically take guitar very well...just don't ever play a bass through a guitar amp, LOL!
a bass does not belong anywhere near that thing, a bass amp cant sound as good as a guitar through one lol
wow, lose the reverb, but sounding massive
It's mostly the room (hardwood floors in that house) but there may have been a little coming through the board, can't remember. Thank you though!
Change with who?
Just bought a Rumble 100 for bass. Tried my guitar through it and am really blown away. It sounds very nice! Full wide-bandwidth sound that takes pedals wonderfully. My bass is going to get jealous of my guitar using his amp so much.
Fabulous.
Have you tried this with the Rumble 40 and if so, how did it compare?
Honestly, I haven't tried the 40 much with guitar. When I was shopping for a bass amp, I tried out what was available in the store, including the 40, but I found I liked the tone of the 100...it had a tighter sound and of course more low end. I had played guitar through bass amps before, at least solid-state ones, and like it far better than smaller "guitar" practice amps. I'm sure the 40 would be fine but I really went with the 100 because of the added headroom, more volume for the smaller gigs I was playing at the time, and the size and weight were amazing! The only issue I've had since I bought it has been some scratchy pots, which is typical.
@@simonpeek37 Thanks for the detailed reply. I'll keep that in mind.
Wow, this sounds amazing. Might have to consider getting one of these sometime haha
Sir this is heresy you cannot play this with anything other than a strat. Jk but awesome cover
Haha! I know, right!? Truth be told, it does sound better on my Strat, but it was needing some fresh strings at time:) Thank you!
@@simonpeek37 no problem man
I’ve actually used this cover to help me learn it. The only bit I’m struggling on now is the very end outro when he’s hammering the top three strings on the 12th and 14th. It’s taken me 5 months playing about 15 minutes a day to master this.
@@crah222 That's awesome man! I know it's not 100%, but who could, ya know!? It might be the same section that I have and had trouble with in the video...around the 3:30 mark, there's something that's not quite right or my timing is off. If I ever get it nailed down, I might do a video of it VERY slow:)
When I play guitar in my 100w Fender Rumble V3, there is a volume and bass drop after 1 minute of playing. It happens with my headphones or just by playing through the speaker. Ever had that problem?
Oh wow, I haven't run into that issue before with this amp. In other situations I've come across something simular (volume or tone drop) it ended up being a bad cable or the guitar/bass I was using had a dirty or scratchy volume pot. I will say I've noticed the volume pot on the rumble has gotten scratchy...guess it's time for some contact cleaner:) Best of luck!
Thanks for uploading! If you have a minute, we recorded some original blues tunes. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you would take a listen. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)
He nailed it!,,, I like that " dust off " at the 2.35 mark 👍
Thank you!! Haha, yeah I can't have a piece of fuzz on my robe while I'm trying to focus:)
Where did that distortion come from? From amp or pedal?
The distortion came from a pedal, The Southland" by Greer Amps/Pedals. HIGHLY recommend the pedal as well as the "Lightspeed".
Chill AF in your dressing gown but playing like that guitar owes you money. Love it. Good job.
Haha! Thank you so much! I guess I play better when I'm comfortable:) I highly recommend it!
stevie ray songs with a les paul sounds thicker and i love it! great playing man
Thank you!

Amazing !
Thank you!!
@@simonpeek37 how long did it take you to learn it? I’m two months in no lie 🤣
@@DalisYn Honestly, I don't remember! It was one of the first full songs I ever learned when I was first starting. The basics of it didn't take too long, but focusing on the little intricacies of the solos and rhythm parts has been years in the making. Every time I'd practice it, I would pick up a little detail...still am:) Keep playing it, it will come in time!
wow i like that your guitar playing is very well
Thank you so much!
Exactly the information I was searching for, thanks ! I was hesitating to buy this amp, but now I won't. It'll be mine !
Good version - love the tone and your vocal. What guitar? What Amp? I don't recognise the guitar - BTW how was it recorded? cheers
Thank you! The guitar is a Raven West. "RWG" Raven West Guitars. The amp is a Positive Grid Spark 40...great little practice amp full of tones:) If you're familiar with the Spark, you can upload tones to a "cloud"...the one I'm using has been uploaded under "Dirty Chile"...although I did turn up the reverb a bit. As far as the recording, I'm just using my phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+...it was a one take kinda thing. I did use an app for the filter and fade in called "InShot". Thanks again!
Well done, Bro. Just wish I could have seen what you were playing up by the headstock. And nice rope too.
Ha, yeah I didn't realize it was out of the shot. I couldn't see the screen:) It was the rear camera on my phone...so I just kinda hoped most would make it in frame. Thanks man!! i also highly recommend the robe:)
Vintage Fender Bass Man tone for nothing basically. Lord above this guy can play mind. Boogie!
Thank you so much!! I still love this amp! It's so freakin' light.
Good job my friend, i subscribed to your channel and if you like you can also see my channel, great
Is this the V3? The ones I'm looking at only have silver grill cloth. Great playing btw!
Yes! This is a V3. I think the newer ones have on board digital effects. They're typically black with silver grill cloth... but this was some kind of limited edition color for the same price, so I snagged it:) It's a fantastic amp!
WHY ISNT THIS VIRAL????
This is actually the vaccine to the Katana virus.
You could literally playing through a filing cabinet and still sound good
Haha!! Thank you!
Very nice.
can you play rock/metal music with a electric guitar for the fender rumble bass amp?
I would say yes, definitely:) It's really dependant on the pedal you use. It being primary a bass amp, it's made to handle low tones very well which comes in handy for dropped tuning...and having a little more control over the mids than a standard guitar amp.
Simon Peek i don’t have pedals but it’s okay and thank you!!!
Hi Simon ! What an amazing review of how the Rumble can sound with single coils, exactly what I was looking for...would have loved this video to be a little longer aha...your playing is sooo incredibly tasty man !! :) Did you use any kind of reverb pedal in this video or is it just the natural reverb of the room ? Cheers !
Thank you! I'm still extremely happy with this amp...it takes just about everything I throw at it:) I should clean the pots up a bit from the dust build up, but other than that...still truckin' along. Reverb...it wasn't intended to be on, but the more I listen to it, I'm fairly certain I had the Boss RV-5 on. It was a mix of light reverb from the pedal and the room having hard wood floors. The Greer Southland added some warmth and grit...great pedal! The pickups are basically standard strat pickup that had been re-wound...possibly Lindy Fralin...just to standard spec. Thanks for the comment!
Very nice playing.Wish you would have played a bit more.Tried one earlier and think I'll get it.Ive got a katana 2-12 100 watt which I love and don't want to part with but it's just way too heavy. Do you have any thoughts on how this amp with one 12 compares with 2 12's while playing live.Thanks.
I've never tried the 212 version, but I would think it may do a little better in a live situation if it's not being mic'd...the XLR DI on the back helps too. Honesty, the 112 does a great job and is still truckin' along...and the weight was a big factor. At just about every gig I have someone pick it up and say, "Whoa!" or "What!?"
Simon Peek thanks
Damn. Warm sounding through a freaking phone speaker. I want this amp. You know your SRV licks too, btw. Well done.
Thank you! Yeah...I may have a SRV problem:) Haha. I guess I'm fine as long as I sneak it in every now and then and not go 100% Vaughan licks. Great amp! Probably one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.
Very tasty run there. Good job.
Thank you so much!
