That's a great hatch for shipped eggs. Sometimes you get zero hatches from eBay or shipped eggs.

I've hatched out a cracked egg several times.. what I do sometimes is patch it with a pice of damp napkin or tissue and it works just fine. So do count out those cracked eggs. Wait until the 6th day and candle them cracked eggs to see if they are even fertized .

i made a cardboard cover for the top to block the light from the lid by putting a hole in it where the canlding light is.

if you place the lid open side down on a flat surface, it will help keep it warmer then open end up.

Perhaps you can invest in a good 'how to dehydrate' recipe book, for more dies on what you can dehydrate. You can dehydrate frozen fruit you can buy out of season at sam's club, costco, bj's, Walmart etc. You might need to slice up the big chunks, but those fruits taste nice in the middle of the winter when fresh fruit is unavailable.
