No. The problem comes from the radio mother-board, there is a diode and a capacitor from the stabilisation circuit which delivers 5.5V that feed also the radio and the display. didnt you noticed bangs in the speakers?
Removing the right part of the display by pulling it is really hard (not shown on the video). One easy way to do it is to insert a long zip tie from above the display and grabbing it below, use the wall of the console to direct it, then just pull the zip tie towards you. I wished I had came up with this 1h earlier and without getting my fingers all bloody near the nails.

Thanks for the clear instruction/demonstration on how to get the clock out! With mine all I did was clean up all the terminals and connections on the circuit board with white spirit on a cotton bud, worked fine after.
Yes but I think reheating the points would give a permanent solution for this problem. I have done this a couple of years ago and never seen that problem again.
