$1000 Integra Part 2: Flooding the Interior, New Engine Mounts, and More!
In this episode, I am beginning to learn the reality of owning a project car... for better or worse! Tune in as I flood my interior, and continue to break things, but fix some of them?? Kinda? Anyways, it’s not all bad, I promise. I still don’t really know if people really read these descriptions. If you read this, comment an adverb. Any adverb in the English language. Like “quickly” or “ferociously.” This is a social experiment. My findings will be submitted to UA-cam University. The most flavorful adverb wins. Thank you.

Here's Why The Toyota Corolla XRS Is The Perfect Car For Enthusiasts on a Budget
Переглядів 131 тис.2 роки тому
The Toyota Corolla XRS is an often-forgotten gem from the mid-2000s. Reliable and practical, yet well-handling and high-revving, it's a wonder why it didn't sell more than it did. But, thankfully, the Corolla XRS has depreciated quite a bit since it was made. Here is why the Toyota Corolla XRS is the perfect car for enthusiasts on a budget. Thanks a ton to Jeff of UA-cam channel @gray25xt for l...

Here's Why You Should Buy a Pontiac Vibe (Instead of a Corolla)
Переглядів 50 тис.3 роки тому
I'm probably way too enthusiastic about a 15-year-old one-off hatchback from GM and Toyota, but hey- at least I can save you money while being so. If you have any questions about the Pontiac Vibe, feel free to inbox me!
Not hyper means stupid and lazy. '24 CCH AWD. Unfortunately didn't realize cold winter mileage drops @20% to keep heat for catalyst ULEV.😮
Give this car to Doug demuro
I recommend a Prius. My best mpg was 63 mpg on a 56 mile journey. Of course with hyper mileing.
2:00 every car advert mf in the 70's
I wish that would work well on a car with a V6 engine
My mom’s 05 XRS is at 223k miles lol
I bought my first ever (used) car back in August, and I'm deciding whether I should get an xrs or an 8th gen civic si sedan because i am going to sell my EJ8 ('00 civic ex) due to the rust underneath (mainly the suspension parts). I went to a local shop to get it replaced, but they told me it would cost me thousands (from just the labor only, i think) to replace it. I even got some of the parts for it but the guy at the shop told me, "It is beyond rust." The guy said that I either sell it and get a better one instead or spend thousands on the car just to replace the parts.
Great vid, my right foot is getting heavier again, need to reel it back!
Not leaving the defroster on when not needed helps in vehicles like this one which switches the AC compressor on behind the scenes when in defrost. DO run the AC occasionally in the winter tho- its good for the seals in the AC system.
Saves gas and if you do this for the life of the car you will never replace the rear brake shoes and maybe front pads every 80k miles or so. It's good for the car over all.
Inflating to more than a few over the door sticker and taking out the air pump is false economy. Safety first 🙂
"Trucks push a significant amount of air out of the way even at a safe distance" Many people will say this is not so but you are correct. Ignore them.
Never shut the engine off for an extended drift with an auto transmission. The lube pump runs off of the engine so while the engine is off the transmission is not getting lubrication. Also remind people that they are probably losing powered steering when the engine is off- people not expecting the steering wheel to get hard to turn might wreck.
Start the engine. Then buckle up and do your things. You should run at least 20 seconds to get the oil pumped around. You burn fuel but the engine likes lubrication too. Then drive like grandma until the engine (oil) is up to temp, which takes longer than the temp gauge which reads your coolant not your oil.
Corolla XRS was 200 lbs lighter than Matrix XRS/Vibe GT so it was the quickest of the 2ZZ-GE non-Celica GTS variant. The best time achieved stock was 7.1 seconds and 15.2 seconds @ 93 mph bone stock by Motor Trend. It was a quick car in its time.
Hey what is the mpg meter tool you purchased?
@@troybuckley7600 ScanGauge II!
Is the clutch on the xrs the same us the regular corolla???
BUT you can buy Camry parts easy & more confidentlyy than the Vibe parts. Pontiac is no longer.
“Hypermiling” is a just a new word for “driving properly”.
until they get in to engine off coasting and things like that which few cars or drivers are capable of
87 civic si in the back
yeaaah xrs
Was there any kind of gasket material on the taillights? I know some vehicles have neoprene gaskets there to prevent water ingress that can harden over time, and they tend to start leaking after they are disturbed. Us Ford Festiva guys used to cut up mousepads to make new taillight gaskets before the community found a supplier that sells new ones.
@@alexrogers3913 There is, yes! I guess I forgot to show it. There’s a gasket (that feels quite like a mousepad) that goes over the entire tail light. It still feels pretty good, so I think the leak was just due to me incorrectly installing the tail light. 🤦♂️ That’s a really cool tip though, thanks for sharing!! Festivas are really neat!
I have a Pontiac vibe in 2008 I love it🚕
The upcoming Prelude would have been the perfect opportunity to revive the CR-Z nameplate
if theyd just put a k20 engine instead of the hybrid crap then this car would be a hit. their hybrid is not really a hybrid like you see on a prius. its more of a boost feature. Its not a bad looking car. it has sharp steering as good or better than an s2000.
Niice :)
4:56 All you actually have to do is push the AC button. You'd be surprised how well just the remaining coolness leftover in the evaporator and the circulation of the fan will keep you cool. It's about 4-5x longer than having nothing going at all with a truly insignificant amount of extra fuel used. Which granted, in the summer, is probably still not long at all, but longer than you'd expect.
@@Grafyte I learned this shortly after filming this video haha. Great tip though, it works fantastic!
I wanna get a modified one, but it's hard to find one out there.
I bought my Vibe new in 2005. It now has 200,000 miles and still running strong.
Hopefully Toyota will bring back the XRS soon, this time, with a proper engine underneath: -2.5L Dual-VVTi with 209 HP and a real-6spd Manual Box,
Nvm google lied
That Cat wasn't yours?
The junk yard is great for oem parts like that light bulb socket ( hope that parts store socket last you a while) keep in mind that oem Honda stuff even when used will last longer than parts store stuff especially electrical things. Honda wiring last forever as long as people dont mess with it and cut things. You could have soaked that old bulb socket with seafoam deep creep wich is similar to WD40 specialist Penetrant. Remember while at the Junkyard 90s honda Civic parts fit Integra as well if the Integras are stripped clean.
Thanks for the advice!!
6:56 same happened to me. I had a beetle and it was extremely fun to drive, but it wasn't cheap. Now I have a 4th gen Prius and at first I didn't liked to way it drove. I hypermiled it and now it's decently fun to drive I prefer to do it in the highway though. hypermiling in my city is extremely dangerous because it has a very aggressive and anxious drivers (more than 60 mpg)
También juego al hypermiling, es entretenido en la ciudad, es seguro, ahorra dinero y contamina menos, solo tiene pros, probablemente un petrol head, nos vea como aburridos, pero yo lo disfruto mucho, saludos desde Argentina
Ive always admired these cars and just bought one for my daughter who just went to college. Its a 2009 vibe with 161000 miles. They arent quite as cheap as they were a few years ago. I paid $3500 for it. However, there is not too much you can buy these days for that amount. It has the larger 2.4 liter engine. I was impressed with the ride and the pep it has after driving it to her 2 hours away. Im hoping it lasts her for at least a few years, which i think it will. Through my research, just make sure you look at the subframe (especially the rear subframe), especially when buying one from northern climates. If its rusted out, its a very expensive fix, and dangerous to drive.
gotta take a close look when buying
Also check the sunfoor drains in the front and rear
@@ga_teg thanks!! I did, thankfully they were clear.
Hey do the sunroof drains get clogged even if you don't use the sunroof like never really open it?
Finally got over to check you page out. Keep it up man. Love real integras being saved and fixed
That water makes me glad my Del Slow is garaged and never sees rain, love the work you are doing keep it up!
Good video, good vibe, thanks for the content ! As you said, chasing fuel efficiency can sometimes be a fun mini game to break the monotony. One additional thing to do is to keep the car clean, and waxed/polished. This reduces air drag significantly. If you do another test perhaps you can update with some numbers :)
8k is not budget friendly, Cant find one cheaper in Southern Cali
@Tone_Of_Dials Who is y'all ? what a bone headded comment to make. Imagine thinking that because of someone's location, they lack common sense. That person must be a complete idiot.....
can't wait for next video.
Those front tires look balder than Vin Diesel
Long live Zim 🎉
I definitely think it was time to change your mounts.
Probably about 15 years overdue!
Are you gonna do fuel economy mods?
Possibly! At the moment I'm focused on getting it in better shape, but once that's done, I'm sure I'll tinker around with a few. That was my original intention in buying a second car, anyways!
Was looking forward to this! Great videos dude
Thanks so much!! :)
Lowkey great video. Might look into getting one in the future. Problem is finding one
How well is the aftermarket support?
170 is a good bump for me. I drive a 140hp civic and. I still find a way to have fun in it
