Flag woke up at 6am sharp. Today was her first day at Minesweeper High School. She was totally dreading it, considering she never fit in at her old school. But ever since she and her parents moved across the country, she's had to get used to many new things. She begrudgingly got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen, where breakfast was already on the counter. She finished her breakfast quickly-as quickly as she could while reading a book at the same time- and then went to get ready. She took so long to get ready that she almost missed the bus. What a way to start my first day of school, she thought miserably. She got off the bus and stepped inside the building. She was astonished by the vast expanse of the corridors as she made her way to her first class of the day. Her old school was maybe half as big. She must have been quite distracted trying to find her classroom, because she just so happened to trip over her own feet. Before she was able to catch herself, however, someone did it for her. A stranger had grabbed onto her right as she had fallen, and she looked up just to meet eyes with one of the most attractive guys she'd ever seen. The stranger helped her stand back up and she looked into his eyes. She must have looked like an idiot because the guy raised an eyebrow, making her blush. "What's your name?" He asked. "F-Flag." She stuttered. He smiled at her. "The name's Mine." "Mine?" She asked confusedly. "As in the explosive." She nodded in recognition. "Well see you around." He smiled at her and started walking away. At this point she had only 3 minutes to make it to class before the starting bell, so she made sure to speed walk to her classroom. She walked in and it felt like everyone was staring at her. Probably because she was new and terribly out of breath from the trek she had to make to get to class on time. Her eyes scanned the room, but she found only one available seat. She took it, without putting too much thought into the cute guy she was forced to sit next to. God, why is everyone at this school so attractive? She thought helplessly. As the teacher droned on and on about basic multiplication, she pretty much tuned him out. She grabbed her book that she was reading that morning and continued to read. None of the other girls she'd ever met enjoyed reading, so that was just another way she was different from everyone else. When the teacher was done explaining why three times three equals nine, he told everyone to turn to their partners and discuss today's topic. She begrudgingly closed her book- after dog-earing the page- and turned to look at the person sitting next to her. "Hello." He said to her. "Hello." She echoed. "I'm Flag." "I'm Tile." He replied. Wow, he's so nice, she thought dreamily. But she couldn't continue that train of thought because they had to start discussing the times tables. Why were they studying times tables in 11th grade? But soon enough, the bell rang and they left class. The rest of the day passed by quickly and with no disturbances. Later, she made her way to the cafeteria for lunch. There was an unusual amount of commotion for a school cafeteria, especially at a school this expensive. She walked further and noticed a mob of people crowded in a corner, and decided to go over there and see what this was about. As she approached the people, she heard them chanting FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!, which confused her- what could this fight possibly be about? She went over to the front of the crowd and saw that in the middle of everyone were Tile and Mine. Her heart jumped to her throat, she really hoped they wouldn't hurt each other. "Stay away from her, Tile." Mine said. "I think you should follow your own advice." Replied Tile, looking smug. "In your dreams, idiot. Flag is mine." Flag gasped as she heard her name. Were they fighting over her? That couldn't be. She's no one! She's been in this school for less than a day! At the sound of her gasp, both guys turned to look at her and she blushed. "So who are you gonna pick, Flag? Asked Tile. "I can't pick between you too!" She said in anguish. Even though she had known both of them for about 3 hours, she had never felt closer with anyone. "You must." Said Mine. Flag glanced between both of them, her heart beating so loudly she was sure everyone in the crowd could hear it. "Why not both?" She heard herself ask. Mine and Tile looked at each other in confusion. She smiled awkwardly and shrugged. Both of them mirrored her and also shrugged. "Fine with me." Said Tile, and Mine nodded in agreement. Flag beamed at them and grabbed both their hands. She had gone from being a loner, to having two boyfriends! Maybe her life at Minesweeper High School wouldn't be so bad after all.
