Had six 65-75 V-Dubs at one point back in HS in the 90's with only one running engine. I could wake up before school and decide which bug, micro, or camper I wanted to drive that day and swap that motor in under an hour.

Day 8 in the books! Still sad I couldn’t sandblast this weekend but we did find a new front suspension for Green! If I need any more parts, I now have a private dealer! Thanks to The Lucky Rabbit in Hattiesburg for giving me a great lead on parts! #vwbus #vanbuild #vanlife #vw #day8

Day 7.5 of turning my Vw Bus into a camper to cross the country in! The plans for sandblasting and priming this weekend have been delayed due to bad weather ALL WEEKEND 😔 But we are going to take this opportunity to strip more off of Green so we can really get all that rust gone! Found someone who has a used front suspension beam fingers crossed it’s in good condition because I’m going over tomorrow to get. #vwbus #vanbuild #vanlife

Make sure you know how to carry/store that windshield so it doesn't crack. Also, careful with sandblasting, panels can warp easily, especially with large panels. IE the roof, large doors, etc.

Dash is out! Getting Green down to just her frame is coming along nicely. I wish I had more time at the end of the day but that’s what weekends are for!

Sometimes this project overwhelms me but I always get more done in a day than I thought I would.

Today was a 🔥SCORCHER🔥 114 heat index today. Not cool August. Lili and I have decided to rent an industrial sand blaster to strip the bus of all rust and paint. Going to start with a clean slate! Things done today: ✅ Remove all lights ✅ Remove license plates from cab area ✅ Remove old patch metal from cab area ✅ Remove spare tire and spare tire mount Whenever someone comments about my spare tire being on the front, I always say “If I ever get in a head on collision, it gives me half a second longer to think about my life”

Yellow then Red now Green! Been sick this past week so sadly not much has been done. Starting to feel better so more progress to come!

Day 2 of turning my Vw Bus into a camper to cross the country in! This is a recap of today and yesterday’s work. Here’s a list of everything I’ve done: ✅ Engine and transmission removed and cleaned ✅ Wiring harness removed ✅ Rear bumper and engine hatch removed ✅ Gas system removed ✅ Engine and transmission split ✅ Frame cleaned ✅ Body put on side of the shop Thanks to my fiancé Lili, I managed to only spend an extra hour at the workshop tonight! i found a cheap t2 van for sale in my area but it needs an engine rebuild ,these videos are suddenly recomended

I had a lot of fun recording the sand blasting. What did yall think of it?

Change your oil every 6 months or 3,000 miles, if you want your engine to last.

I would recommend buying velocity stack filters.

Short answer: it’s complicated… Mechanical diagnostic on old cars is always hard and sometimes you end up chasing that wild goose 🪿 tell me your worst mistake working on your own car!

Great job! A touch of blue loctite on the immolation tube and jet threads may help

Left carb running too lean (hence the backfire and white-ish looking plugs), right carb running a bit rich. Make sure everything is tight on the left carb and not sucking in air anywhere. Replace all those missing exhaust bolts!........and the air filter nuts.

Check the timing, valves and electrical from what i have learnt over the years they go hand in hand with backfiring.
