How many quarts exactly did you put in? Thank you awesome video!
Im getting ready to start this project and im curious where the transmission filter is located and if you recommend changing it along with replacing the fluid?
There is no transmission filter on the manual transmissions, so you are all good if you have the new gear oil. I think I said in the video, but make sure you remove the fill plug first before draining the old oil. Always best to make sure your fill plug is free before draining the old fluid out. Thank you for watching!
Your video is very helpful. I have a 2009 Wrangler JK. Should I remove the air dam in order to reach the coolant drain?
I’m glad to hear that and thank you for watching! Mine did not have an air deflector since I had already installed an aftermarket front bumper. But, if I remember correctly this is only held on by a few plastic panel clips towards the front of the bumper. Should remove pretty easily and would give you some more room which is always a plus.
Installed the same unit, everything works, this video was helpful for install. I find it a little confusing to operate
Installed pretty much the same unit i bought from Amazon. Just a little heads up if you are going to wire up a reverse camera to it, the standard settings show the image distorted caught at the back. because there is no manual included if this we're to be cause of a wrong wiring setup i found out i just had to adjusting the settings from the device to another format.
Thank you for the feedback. When I installed mine the image was inverted and I was able to change that in the settings as well. Thank you for watching!

Super easy install thanks for the video brother! Amazon also sells some side mirror caps to match the handles that look great as well! Was an easy install.

I studied your video before I installed the same head unit in my grand-daughters 2012 Jeep. I also viewed a dozen other videos covering the same subject, but your video, by far, is the best tutorial on UA-cam. Thank you. Now, if you could just do the same thing covering the installation of the rear camera, many of us would be very thankful. I have watched a dozen videos trying to explain how to do it and the more I watch, the more I am confused. Please consider adding instructions on that subject. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I put a lot of effort into trying to show the detail. I've always gotten irritated with these type of videos when they just skip to the result. I'm glad others appreciate the effort that goes into making these. Unfortunately, I do not have my Jeep anymore. But, I'm working on trying to find someone in my area that will let me install a camera on their Jeep and record the process. I've had quite a bit of interest in that process. Hopefully it will work out to where I can get a Jeep to do the reverse camera video on. If I'm able to get one and record a video I'll reply to you again and let you know. Thank you for watching!

Great Video! Did the spark plus come properly gapped already? Do they need to be tightened to a certain torque? Seems like a great way to save $400 and stockpile tools. Much appreciated!
Torque to 15lbs. Denso SK20HR11 is what I used. Pregapped at .042
Thank you! These type of plugs are usually pregapped. I've read that these type of plugs can be damaged if you pry on them too much trying to adjust the gap. So, I usually just install them as they are set. I'm all about saving money and buying new tools! Thank you for watching!

This was an excellent demonstration. I appreciate how you took the time and did the difficult side first. Do you remove the negative terminal off the battery before beginning the work? Thank-you for showing the tips and tricks to carefully remove and replace all necessary parts to change the plugs on the Tundra.
Thank you so much! I did not remove the negative battery cable first, but that is always a good idea to do when doing work that involves any electrical connections. 07-12 jks used an orange dyed coolant known as HOAT coolant. 13-18 jks used OAT coolant that they added a purple dye in to help customers distinguish the two. I know mixing will cause it to gel. I heard if you put orang/purple in the wrong year, it will eat the head gaskets up.
That is correct, the 3.8L uses HOAT coolant and the later 3.6L engine uses the OAT coolant. Thanks for watching!
Did you end up installing a back up camera by chance, just got the radio today for my Dads Jeep!
Yes I did install the camera, unfortunately I did not record a video on it. I bought a mount off amazon for about $20 that bolts onto your spare tire holder. I then removed the plastics in the rear of the vehicle and the door panels and ran the wire down the passenger side all the way to the glovebox then fed up to the radio. Thank you for watching!

My jeeps coolant thermometer on the inside is fluctuation quite a bit after jiffy lube did a flush. I am going to flush again and change the thermostat since the heater has been cycling to cold and back to hot. Every once in a while the red lighting bold will come on and send my coolant thermometer all the way to the left and send cold air. Is there any sensors I could replace while doing this flush??
Dang sorry to hear that, glad you are going to take this on and hope you get it fixed. You could replace your coolant temp sensor while you have the cooling system open if you would like. Then refill your system and go through the same air bleed procedure I do in this video. Thank you for watching!
😊😊
Great video Thanks!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks. I followed this while replacing the clutch on my 2012 JK 3.6L. Things I learned: 1) Remove the shift tower BEFORE pulling transmission. It will help you access the top two bell housing bolts through the shift hole in the floorboard. Also, the shift tower, if attached, will get hung up on the floorboard when moving the transmission in and out. 2) If you are wrenching on the starter battery terminal nut located on the back of the starter, watch out for the plastic connector on the side of the starter. The side of my wrench hit and broke the plastic connector. 3) Put blue tape on every connector you unplug and label it. I usually do this but was lazy and when I went to start up the jeep, I got 8 check engine codes because I forgot to reattach a ground wire. 4) Use a transmission jack from HF or something other than a floor jack. 5) When reattaching the transmission, make sure the four metal tabs for the wiring harnesses are ABOVE the transmission and NOT between the bellhouse and the engine. 6) If you don't have the tool to keep the flywheel from spinning when wrenching on the flywheel bolts, insert one of the pressure plate bolts into the flywheel and put a metal bar (I used a wrecking bar) between the bolt head and the floor. 7) The splines and angle of the transmission have to match up perfectly for the transmission to go back in.
Thank you! Hope this helped you out in taking on this job yourself. Thank you for putting this list on here, all good lessons for sure! Thank you for watching!
I saw the active alert app👨🏻🚒👨🏻🚒
Good catch 😂 That is probably why most of my upgrades are budget minded. Thank you for watching!
Question about your flushing method. You are flushing out all the old coolant by removing the hoses and then using the garden hose instead of draining the coolant (without disconnecting hoses) and then filling up with water, running the engine and draining the water (repeat 3 times), correct? The repeated filling with water method ends up leaving half the system full of water and then the unconcentrated coolant is added to make the 50/50 mix. Does your method of removing the hoses get all of the water out so that when you add your 50/50 mix, you arent diluting it more with the left over water in the system?
Hello Brice and thanks for watching! To be honest I'm not totally sure which method is the best. This is the method I always use to flush a cooling system out. Reason being, when you remove the heater hoses you can back flush. Doing this you flush water through the heater core in reverse of the normal flow. I feel that when you flush in reverse it gets more sediment out that may stay trapped if you just flush the direction of normal flow. I don't have a certain answer though on if this gets out more water or is more efficient.
Is that coolant Zerex G05 ? Is it different for the 2018? My owners manual says it needs OAT, which is purple, G30, not the orange HOAT stuff. (2015 wrangler jk)
@@JDMspec579 Yes the 3.8L engine takes the HOAT antifreeze. 2012 and newer JK’s with the 3.6L engine use OAT coolant. Thanks for watching!
@@JKJeep Ah, gotcha 👌 Thanks so much for the clarification!
Looks like they've changed what's in the box since you did this video. I click the link, and it doesn't look like you get all the parts that you showed.
I followed the link and they show in the description that they still include the needed wiring to hook this radio up, it's just not pictured. Mine only came with the radio, wiring and a backup camera. Thank you for watching!
The only think I want to mention is doing the flush on incline driveway is better because the radiator fill hole would be the highest level and air in the system will move up easier. Squeezing the lower and upper radiator hoses before start up will also help remove air pockets in the system

You didn't put any force against the new line when spooling it on. That is why you don't have any room left. The proper way to install it is tie the end of it to a tree and set jeep in neutral and drag the vehicle to the tree causing the line to be wrapped tight.

Hi good job I need your help to buy the clutch plate kit please tell me what what parts I must change waiting your comments
@@sunnyhongkong Thank you! Links to everything used is in the video description. Thanks for watching!
Almost done with mine. I took the opportunity to upgrade to the McLeod hydraulic release bearing and a sport shifter from Lynx ($200 less than B&M) found on Quadratec. I figure if I'm gonna have it all tore apart, might as well get the most bang for my buck. All new parts installed, just waiting for a replacement for my replacement shifter gasket since the first one I ordered in advance arrived hard as a rock.
Got the replacement shifter isolator gasket, but my cheap Harbor Freight lift gave out on me and now my trans and Tx Case is on the floor of my garage, under my Jeep. I have to figure out how to get it out from under there, pull the Tx Case off and try again with less weight.
For anyone installing it and having a hard time. Remove the transfer case which is the 14mm bolts. It frees up a majority of the weight. I also had to file the splines on the disc that faced the transmission side because after failing to put it in several times the splines flared out a little to make it difficult. Good luck
Once I installed my new clutch and pressure plate, the little shorty bolts for the pressure plate would not reach the flywheel. I went out and bought 6 longer bolts then I saw a note in a Mazda forum from one of my millions of searches on this subject. There they mentioned to use 3 longer bolts too torque it down enough to compress the springs then i should be able to use the original bolts. I'll see if this works
Update: Using 3 longer bolts did the trick to squeeze the pressure plate on, compressing the leaf springs. then once I got it squeezed enough, I used the OEM bolts in the 3 open spots and replaced the longer ones with the OEMs as well.
@@XxsteamerxX Glad that worked! Thank you for sharing that idea on here, I’m sure others will find that helpful. Thanks for watching!
Anyone comment on the color of the controls at night? I’d like to keep it as close to OEM colors as possible which is that greenish white
Hey bud.. Just a quick question if I may.. Whilst my clutch is being fixed in the garage (I live in Australia) I notice you have the same front bumper as me. Mine has started to loose the paint and look rust. Could you do a session showing how to sort it out please ? Im not a mechanic I'm afraid just a nurse.
Unfortunately I no longer have my Jeep. In that instance, I would scuff the old paint up using a wire wheel then sandpaper. Seal the rust with an inhibitor then hit it with some new paint. Hope the clutch job goes smooth. Thanks for watching!
no worries. kinda trusted your view on stuff but that's ok brother.. Keep safe and well
