2024 GeoPro 20BHS Check-in and Setup at Sleeper State Park
October 11, 2024. We head up to Sleeper State Park for our Fall camping this year. This is THE busiest we have ever seen any Michigan State Park at our check-in. This also highlights one of the downsides of a trailer vs. tenting. With tending we would not have had to wait to fill our 30 gallon water tank. But on the flip side, setup of the trailer goes much quicker.

Do you still like your Bushnell?
Yes, we still like the Bushnell very much, although we purchased a Travel Trailer we still have the Bushnell in case we want to tent camp for any reason. It is a great tent, even better now that Mark has figured out how to put it up even faster now (and by himself).
I like the Grand Surveyor, 41K though 🤯
The Grand Surveyors are very nice. Google the one you like the most tho (you can copy the full name from the description) and you can probably find it for a lot less. Although maybe not where you are at. Prices go up the further you are from where they are made (Indiana).
Would staking the corners first make setup easier.?
@mrbob9399 Not really, keeping it flexible helps make it easier to put the rain fly on top. Once the rain fly is on, the top popped up and the door poles in it becomes a lot more rigid. Then it is easier to arrange the floor so it is taught and stake it down. If we stake it down first then it is difficult to get the floor taight in all directions. It is easier with a rectangular floor, but this one is a pentagon.
Some day will get one of those and will travel the country
@@frederickluc1335 Yeah, we hope to travel the country once I retire.
❤❤❤
Good job😍👍
How long was a layover in Seoul?
@frederickluc1335 It was supposed to be 5 hours, but our plane was late. Then we sat in the plane for a long time waiting for our turn to de-ice. Bad weather the entire trip with lots of turbulence. The 'fasten safety belts' sign was almost never turned off and meal service was delayed due to the turbulence. We almost didn't make the flight from Minneapolis to Detroit.
Thinking about buying one. Would you recommend the tent? Did the set up and tear down time get better?
@Ebass777 It's a really good tent. But if you are just one person I would look elsewhere, the same goes for if you don't have room for a six foot long tent bag.
Nice video! I wish you would give a tour of features of the Bushnell tent.
@mybrokenbeans Cleo does give a bit of a tour in our McClain State Park videos. But notsomuch on any technical details. All the seams are extreamly well sealed. The door zipper can be a bit of a pain at times due to the fabric that covers it to help keep out rain. It has a ton of windows and good airflow. It is a shame it doesn't have a porch, like our previous tent. But Mark did rig one up with a tarp when we camped at McLain State Park. The biggest plus is the fast setup, if you can manage to find a good way to get the fly on (recommend starting at the back instead of the front). Also keep in mind that it is still 6 feet long when packed and the straps on the bag can easily get hung up on things. Maybe we could film a feature video in the backyard, which features are you interested in?
@@Cleo_and_Mark All features. Whatever you present of the tent would be cool.

@@frederickluc1335 It was very nice, a great way to cap off our trip!

@frederickluc1335 The entire blue cheese pizza, except for like one slice. They served up the berries separate in a bowl (you can see it in the video if you don't blink). Not my favorite pizza by far, but there's not really such a thing as bad pizza. [-Mark]

Supermarkets look similar to how they’re in Mexico also
There are a lot of similarities between the Philippines and Mexico. When the Spanish ruled the Philippines for 500 years they did so through Mexico, so a lot of Mexican culture found its way to the Philippines. For instance, you will find Lechon in both Mexico and the Philippines, but not in Spain.

For a relatively small municipality they have really invested in a top-notch attraction to get people to come to town.
Just received my 4 man version of this and I can't place the two interior with any amount of force !! This is ridiculous.
The door poles?
@@Cleo_and_Mark yea... I had to separate the two pieces, place them into their respected pockets then force the centers together. Took a bit of force.
@robertfitzsimmons9428 on ours the two side poles go in pretty easy but the top pole goes 8n best if you do the center last. But it has never been difficult. You have the door unzipped when you are doing it?
@@Cleo_and_Mark oh yea. I'll leave it assembled over night. Let the nylon stretch a bit.. just glad I did this first setup in the backyard and not the campground!
@robertfitzsimmons9428 Yeah, we always set things up in the yard first for a trial run. The only trouble we have had with ours is getting the rsinfly on, and we think we figured out s way to make that easier by starting at the back instead of the front. We need to test the new mthod out in the backyard. Maybe if you put the door poles in before you pop-up the ceiling therr would be less tension.
Nice karaoke at the end!

Yeah, that was really helpful !
Glad to hear that. Settup was pretty easy, mostly one person can do it but a second person is very helpful at a few points.
How long did it take 🤔 if ya don't mind
@c0ll0 Somewhere between 1 and two hours. Mark set it up mostly by himself but it really helps to have a second person. Especially for joining the wall sections, putting the roof bars up (also a light ladder or step stool) and putting the canopy over the top. Last fall, mark removed the canopy and walls by himself and we stored them in the garage. He then put them back on this year by himself (with a step ladder). It managed the winter just fine. ❤

BKLES BK2000 isn't water proof / Water resistant (it can take shallow rain water drips. But not being dunked into a water bath.). To close to the water ledge and it falling to much (like in the lake to) probably why it kept randomly turning on due to the electronics being wet and destroying itself.) Plus you got the filter reaching out WAY far into the deep water just 'floating' there. Best if you anchored it with a rock so it didn't grab air bubbles at times just surface floating. Normally best to leave the unit ground level and lift the outlet house to the filler piece. Cause these don't have the most powerful motors to suction and blow. It likely also kept turning off/on during your time away from the unit since it kept 'falling' it might've fell in the water one of those times and after kept freaking itself out since it had water damage now. The BKLES also filters far deeper then the MSR Hyperflow. That's why he could pump faster/fill because the hyperflow only has a Hollow fiber membrane. Vs the BKLES that has 2 (prefilter in water and inside unit) Plus carbon and ion exchange + cotton filtering. So it's got 3x more filtering to do. So a larger load is gonna be slower. But sure if you had a hand pump version of the same filtering as the BKLES you might be able to pump faster. But this could cause problems of trying to 'pump' faster due to the fact you are building far faster pressure inside the unit to 'PUSH' water between filtering pieces and that could break the hollow fiber pores. So depending on such. a Basic MSR Hyperflow (which is nothing really then you could do with a basic lifestraw.) isn't as good as the BKLES In filtering. But your Hyperflow beats in speed. But not in filtering performance. And due to user error. I think this video is redundent in saying the BKLES sucks. Sure the hose it comes with kink rather easy. But it is also supposed to be for portable use and package very tightly in it's little case. So finding a way to keep the house as straight as possible is tricky. But that could be fixed using a thicker and different kind of hose off-market then the BKLES own company. =============================== As for off-topic of the two. The way he was pouring into his trailer/RV water source. Might next time take a idea in using double orings to his bag. You both mentioned the screw depth is to deep for the shallow screw hole on the bag. Simple fix is take the Oring out of the pour spout you had tried to give him and put that into the other thing he was using. This 'Double up' orings will reduce the thread count till it 'seals' on both the orings. Making it less shallow of a threading on and sealing the lips together on the bag much better. Also make sure to Squeeze the bag abit when trying to fill the RV/Trailer up from the water fill. That'll help push more water faster then just gravity fed. (And keep to using that end filter piece he used in the first part. That'll help filter More water before it gets into the RV/Trailer's water.)
First let me say that we really wanted to like this water filter, we paid good money for it and it has a nice form factor and looks nice. While the filter did fall over a number of times (bad design), it was never 'dunked'. It may have been slightly splashed from the waves, but it was a pretty calm day. If you watch the video it was too shallow and rocky for it to get dunked. We did put a rock on the prefilter hose in order to keep it under water, but not everything was caught on video (for some reason the camera kept shutting off). The water penetration seemed to come from the inside, an internal leak. Recommending that the user immediately replace the hose is a mark AGAINST this filter, as it should be able to be used right out of the box. It is doubtful, however, that even a fresh hose would have made a difference, as the pre-filter looked to use about the same level of filtering as the internal filter. Which means it will pretty much clog up immediately, and the pump in this unit is simply not strong enough to pull the water through the prefilter AND push it through the main filter. We got the filter in order to use it because we knew water would be shut off in the park for part of our stay. It FAILED for the purpose it was being sold for, thus, in our opinion, it SUCKS (and not in the good way). A camping water filter that can't filter water from a lake or river right out of the box is pointless. We have since purchased a different one, that looks to be better sealed against water but we have not had a chance to test it out so we have not posted a video yet. ======== As for the MSR, it costs a LOT more than the BKLS, but he had it so we decided to test side-by-side. A manual pump is not what we would go for because we prefer to let something sit and do the work over doing the pumping for an hour or more. The filters in either unit should do fine filtering the water; especially since this water was not being used for drinking in any case. The biggest knock on the MSR setup is that the threads are shallow. We picked up an MSR water bag also, mostly because it packs down really small, but the shallow threads means it is not very useful for using with anything with any type of hose attachedment. Robert did take the washer out of the adapter he had, and it was still too shallow. ===== This entire exercise was just that, an exercise, to see if it could be done. It was under real-world conditions instead of inside somebody's house. That being said, it wasn't being done under critical conditions, we had other sources of water.
@@Cleo_and_MarkStill weird. Could be either the water or falling over. It does have a rubber bottom and if it was on a flat non-moving surface which seems in the video you just have it on a wonky jug. It might've been better. Or it could've been a fault unit. I recently got one myself and pre-ran it and it works fine. Filled a water bottle without problems. After doing the FIRST charge of the unit (as intended it recommend to charge a device before using.). repacked it and now will be ready for it's adventure. Well if it leaked it wouldn't be leaking inside the filter housing to the fresh water so it's not messing up to the filter water you're drinking. That is it's own housing inside the plastic casing. You can see that by unscrewing the internal filter by unscrewing the bottom of the top head. It is it's own tube housing with a rubber ring on the internal filter to prevent leaking out of the top. So the only way i'd think the leak would happen would be the crossing inside the motor housing where the tube passes the motor spinner that 'sucks' and 'blows' the water from and to the internal filter. It might've leak or 'shook' from it falling possible and rattled the motor to rip the internal routing hose. Then caused it to water damage the electrical board. Which is only thing i can think of since it kept randomly 'activating'. This i seen happen on some devices of acting weird on turning on or off. (It's quite scary/freaky at times. Including when it's on a stuff animal toy or something. ugh.....) Yeah the shallow thread housing on the bag could easily be fixed by doubling the Orings on the connector from the device to the bag. This'll make the connector have less threads to screw down onto the bag and seal better. Hope this helps next time. I think it'd be neat to make a video even before doing a full real world test. Lot of people like seeing a kinda Overview of things. Gives them a more closer look at everything before the product is shown how it works that doesn't give that close up feel. My latest 2videos i did show this to give the user a idea of the looks and likely hood of it's performance.
@@KillerRaptorr It is possible that we had a bad unit, we made and posted a video that reflects our experience, however.
@@Cleo_and_MarkHello again Cleo/Mark. I have just found reason why the unit likely failed and started freaking out. Mine started turning the light on at random after a 2nd use in a standard bowl test in house with clean water. I wanted to try routing another filter motor threw it to have a more stable flow and 3 filters running on it. A GVDV, The BKLES, and a LifeStraw Flex at the end. It seem the GVDV overpowered it and started pouring water through the little internal filter's oring. After running the units and letting the filters dry. I notice the BKLES turned it's LED on by itself. So after it's 2nd time i broke it down by trying to get inside and figure why it started freaking out. I ended up finding the motor and battery inside the housing just behind the wall of the internal filter. The whole circle can design it has is HOLLOW. The Motor and battery are just barely held down to weak plastic on the bottom of the unit where there there is just barely the plastic routing to the water to the internal filter point. Making it very weak to drops due to it not being supported by anything else. So in likely cases for yours. It's likely that the few falls that happened likely broke the plastic holding the water routing from the motor and started leaking into the hollow motor/battery point. Mine also might've done the same to before my test as it did slip off my bike seat while it was in it's included felt case. Either that or it could've been from the extra pressure from the first pump. It's pretty stupid a company would make a design like this of a can/cup but not put any support to the sides or top for the internal construction, only relying on the bottom to keep it from flopping about. But since this is the case it's likely a side or drop is far likely to destroy the unit by far. Another thing i found out while take the unit apart. I wanted to find out if the (KDF) kinetic degradation fluxion was really it's own piece in the unit like shown in the picture. Expect i found that the kinetic degradation fluxion was nothing more then just like someone sprinkled salt ontop of the carbon sponge. And there was no real Cotton filter below. It's just a cotton wrap to keep the carbon sponge contained with a tiny salt sprinkle on the bottom. So it wasn't a whole contain piece of kinetic degradation fluxion as shown in the picture as it should be. So in full. It just seem that you really only get Ultra hollow fiber membrane filtering with a carbon sponge filter. (The carbon sponge is probably due to have compact it is compared to a more standard carbon/charcoal filter you find in a Brita/Pur. So the fine charcoal is smashed so tightly compared to the Brita/Pur that are more loosely contained.) Still honestly if the unit was more held together inside the plastic can shape. It would've been epic. But it's a shame they designed it with not much internal support.
