From WC, I remember U.S. 52, I took this road many times in the 1980’s selling and delivering coal mining tire and wheels to a tire dealer in Welch WV, coming from Johnson City TN going through Bluefield and then on to Welch! That was quite an adventure back then!

From WC, In November of 1979 I moved from Orlando FL to Johnson City TN, my job was to roam the coal fields picking up, delivering, and selling mine tires to coal mines! What a difference that was from Orlando! I did this for a little over 10 years and I remember roads like this! But in that time I also saw U.S. highways that went from being like our county roads here to being 4 lane highways! I-77 in WV was and is a toll road, but went from being a two lane road where you turned right or left ( no exit!) to get off of it and then paid your toll at a little house to a man stationed there! As I understand a lot of those 2 lane roads that you wandered right, left, and up and down (U.S. highways!) are now 4 lane highways that cut through mountains! What a change in 40 years!
