Nice battle report, I do like the look of this game and the 3D printed minis look great
Thank for the review. I bought a couple of scenario books for General de Brigade and found them a useful resource, but both had numerous errors and ommissions. I thought they would have been better with proof reading, and it sounds like this book is the same.
thank you.
Máte. .....switch off the tv as the background noise is making me struggle to hear you as the sound quality is poor and fill the screen with the screen shots, I've put your video to full screen whilst wearing glasses and it's hard to make out. The content really intrests me and such a pity that watching it is a strain on the ears and eyes.
Thanks Ricky, first time doing one so its was an experiment
I have done my own research and have adjusted most thus far and given the units names. I have a file with all the adjustment I think are logical
I have a problem with all of Daves Russian brigade structure. Russian divisions were set at 2 brigades of 2 regiments of 2 battalions and 1 brigade of 2 Jager regiments also of 2 battalions
Great table. Where did you get the markers/tokens, especially the numbered casualty markers - very colourful
I has my local hobby store laser cut them for me
Hi. Just buying a German fleet now. This game looks great. I'm in Sydney. What about you. Maybe we could get this on the table?
Great news. I am in Adelaide.
Do you use a laser cutter for the MDF bases? They are a great idea, and possibly a good accessory range to offer commercially :)
Yes they are 3mm laser cut. My local hobby story does these.
Such a fantastic fleet, very tempting for me! 👍
Hi there, could you tell me who’s battle mat you are using please.it looks good.
Hi Dave , I’ve just started printing these out but having a problem of them warping, I have a anycubic photon mono and using esun pla bio resin. Do you print them flat on the bed ? Or is there some settings I need to change.any help would be appreciated. Cheers Carl.
Yes mate flat on the bed. I find they do warp a very small amount but nothing major. Do yo have a picture of one?
Yep can send on on messenger I guess , what is your Facebook account link.
If you ratchet down the exposure time and number of bottom layers you do get much less warping, though resin choice seems to matter a bit too. I use an Anycubic Mono and Anycubic standard grey resin, and for these do 4 bottom layers with a 16 second exposure and almost all the warping has ceased.
What mat do you have? Also, what paint colors for the ships?
Hi Nick, the mats come from www.tinywargames.co.uk/ and are custom made to fit my table. Now the paints are mostly Vallejo. For the British I am using Pale Sand & dark Sand for the deck and then washing. London Grey for the ship and then dry brush some neutral or sky grey to highlight. The Germans are Desert yellow or Deck tan. I am using German Grey as the base colour then dry brushing neutral gray. If I add some rust I am dabbing some Citadel Fuegan Orange shade.
What 3D printer do you use Dave? They look awesome! I'll have to swing by your new place to see how it plays.
AnyCubic Photon S mate. We are planning a game this Sat night if your up for it?
Really enjoyed your videos and I hope too see more soon mate.
Very interesting guys, well done, more please👍
Thanks mate.
Great game love GDA, correct me if I’m wrong but the 1st unit that went into the BUA and had to full back after the melee went through the 2nd unit that went into BUA ,shouldn’t they have been informed because of the unit going through them ? And then they could not have moved.
Yes they would be unformed, but I believe the Austrian player place the rear unit just beyond 10cm thus to avoid the unformed in the next turn.
Great game Dave. Thanks for sharing. The melees around the BUA seemed to cause a lot of confusion with the rules though!? 😂😂 Mind you we’re just as bad in the heat of the action. 🙄🙄
Yep! First game with a strongpoint in play.
Yeah they are really tough nuts to crack especially as you can normally only attack with one unit. You just have grind the defenders down. Although in a recent game my mate managed to Chuck me out of one in the first round - he scored 100% hits and my guys missed totally. You can’t beat lucky dice. 😂😂
Dave, great battle using GdA! I love your Polish (AB 18mm?) figures, very well done. 1809 is what I have based my French/Polish and Austrians on.
Thanks Cameron. Yes all AB.
Very enjoyable. Good job. I look forward to watching Part 2. Did you devise the scenario or did you base it on the GdB scenario or the Raszyn scenario in Hopper's book? I've avoided this battle because of the seeming imbalance but this has inspired me to take a break from the Peninsula and dust off my Austrians and Poles.
Hi Kent, yes the imbalance of the forces is quite an issue to try and tackle, particularly the artillery. I researched from various sources to get to where we are now and this is our first playtest of the scenario. I was not aware of the 2 scenario's you have mentioned, but I will investigate them. I am not sure it is a battle the Poles can wind, but it is a battle they can cause substantial damage to the Austrians.
@@davek8295 Wow. I think you did a very good job in putting together the scenario. I highly recommend Michael Hopper's set of scenario books if you haven't discovered them already. I look forward to seeing how your battle ends.
Looks great! I don’t know if I’ve asked before, but tell me about your ground cover that you have.
I think this gaming mats is from tiny wargames in the UK.
Great stuff! Vid was a bit juddery. Could be your SD card is too slow for the camera? I had a similar problem until I upgraded to a faster card. What camera were you using?
Great sunday then. Nice work.
Looking great! Buildings is something that I am severely lacking and need to work on.
That’s a great idea to do a cav only battle: maybe an advanced guard or wing fight of a larger action.
Ever since changing to General de Armee rules I've enjoyed my Napoleonic gaming so much more . Watching this and seeing a whole flank going hesitant just shows how great the rules are as you can never rely upon your plan. Another great AAR.
A gorgeous table and a great looking battle, nice video!
Hi Dave. If the unit declaring the opportunity charge were a support at the start of the phasing players charge would that prevent them declaring an opportunity charge. It is the defenders ‘disadvantage’ that all units than can support must, even if they don’t get involved in the actual charge outcome. Surely your interpretation ignores this requirement and disadvantages the phasing player who has the initiative in the first instance?.. Just my twopenneth! Cheers. Nick
Nick Jennings Hi Nick, No it does not prevent them from declaring the opportunity charge. Supports count during the Charge phase outcomes. Opportunity charges take the initiative away from the phasing player in this instance only.
excellent game and a great looking table, enjoyed the AAR, thanks for sharing the link on the GDA forum.
Hi Dave. I'm the original poster of the debate on the forum. The way you have shown it here is exactly how I would play it and the only sticky situation I had as mentioned was the target who was going to be charged are they free or as they were part of the charge are they now penalised from further movement ect, as the way you explained it and I agree as that as the charge never took place then YES they are free to charge another unit if one was available in the non phasing turn charge turn or move in the movement phase. cheers R
