Couldn't you just turn it off completely instead of making it dim? It causes light pollution and has a negative effect on wildlife.
If the operator wants, they can turn off the lights competely. However, turning off the lights is undesirable by many municipalities as it affects the safety perception of road users. Keeping the street lights dim, for instance at 20%, will not cause excessive light pollution and will not effect nocturnal wildlife.
@@TvilightBV That's what I was wondering actually - I wasn't sure if the dim light really affects the nocturnal wildlife as much as the normal light so I assumed it would. It is good to hear that the dim light doesn't negatively affect the wildlife. Thank you for your detailed answer.
