The 1pm car ride makes no sense. The game would start at noon. Beyond that, you would want to arrive at the stadium at least 1 hour before that. Depending on location of home, they are probably leaving between 8am-10am

I did something similar last year. My dad has always taken me to football since I was 8 years old. Now I surprised him with two tickets and the day was on me. It was the least I could do after all the other things I'd done, and he was really happy about it.
