A "nice" movie with great actors. Very different from the actual and extremely tragic life and eventual suicide of Sœur Sourire (Sister Smile), officially Sister Luc Gabriel. The song, too was very different. The melody remained the same, but the lyrics were re-written. Those are not the English lyrics to the French song "Dominique". A translation of the original lyrics doesn't fit well with the melody and metre, and they're less interesting and far from uplifting.

I heard this for the first time about 1966 or 1967 (at about age 6). I was on vacation with my parents in Glouster Massachusetts. We stayed at a place called "The Hawthorne Inn". I liked how the hotel was built near the water so when the tide came in it would flood the rocks right below our second-floor room and we could fish from the balcony outside our room...(we never caught anything, but it was fun nonetheless). One night my parents left the kids in the room and went over to a carnival across the bay. We could see a Ferris wheel and some rides from our room. The whole area was brightly lit up. The window to our room was left open so we could hear the sounds of the sea outside and feel the breeze (September or October timeframe). They left the radio on to keep us company. I heard this song and never forgot it. It came out a few years earlier but was still popular.
