Come with me on a hike in the Norwegian mountains!
Hello everyone~
I recently went for a chill weekend hike in Voss, Norway. I thought I'd attempt to vlog and here it is. It's a bit of a mess so take it or leave it. Constructive criticism is not appreciated.

    I have read that Norway is the best country to live for moslems. May be due to the restrictions on alcohol😅

    The country is nice and most people nice and kind, but if you work with them they like to gossip , not in front of you, but they like. Most of norwegians dont like foreigners although they re not allowed by laws to say it to your face, but you can see it by the treatment foreigners get when get employed in Norway. One thing also that is important is if you dont speak good norwegian management will try to twist your words you said on meetings, make up things in order to not keep you longer at work and if you face them with that, they will say: DET VAR MISFORSTOELSE. While actually it wasn t, they just try to set you up with many things you forgot to do at work or did not do, while you actually did all right, but they try to set you up thinking if you are alone in Norway and dont speak norwegian good they can do whatever they want. So I would recommend anyone to read all the rights you have as a human being before moving to Norway, learning language, get know the system. Also there is some organization called Barnevernet that like to take children away from parents for a little thing. For example your neighbour can complain about you that you raise little voice on your kid, or if your kid look little sad at school they will just come and take all your kids away for years, in some cases they will change their names and last names, location and you will never see them again. And 80 percent kids they take are foreign kids, and as a newcomer in Norway with your family they will put all the attention on you 24/7. They will behave like detectives but never in direct way, but behind your back which is very mean and I can not call it normal or legal. It seems to me as a nacistic way, rasist way of behaviour. Also they expect that all foreigners adjust to Norway, norwegian culture etc., but they actually are not ready to accept other cultures, which is shown by the fact that they take away thousands of foreign children especially when they re young so they can brain wash them for years until they re sure they learned to live in norwegian way of living. LOOKS MORE LIKE A MODERN AUSCHIWTZ . So if you call it democratic country, I dont.

    .... is the most beautiful city in Norway.... ehhmmm it is the only city I been to in Norway... :) He he I live in the eastern part of Norway, near Drammen, a city a little south west of Oslo and I have travelled a lot in Norway with motorcycle (Especially under covid...) and I can assure you: It is A LOT of really astonishing towns and cities in Norway, and A LOT of places you wouldn't be surprised if you saw floating letters in the air in front of the place, cos you feel just like driving in to a postcard.. :) I have nearly driven off the road some places, cos of the absolute stunning view and I'm from Norway.... So travel, see Norway, you will not regret it! The whole of it... Not the north cape though, that is a tourist trap if I ever saw one... And yeah, a lot of other nationality's say Norwegians are cold, I've even heard some say almost rude, but is you make a friend in Norway you have a fierce friend for life that is always there for you, not only in good times, but in bad once too. Cos there is in bad times you really need a friend right? :)

    Nice cons, but these cons are for Bergen, well except prices. Thing about Bergen is that it's THE rain town in Norway, if speaking with someone from Bergen, they will brag about their rain records for hours, it's one of the most rainy towns in Europe. Seasonal depression, well, there is 4 seasons, sometimes in a day, but here Bergen is freakn soft, further north almost no Sun and north of Bodø there is dark period with no Sun at all for a period. Yeah, expensive country, but with a good job not gonna live in poverty. If you wanna be sinner, drink alcohol, the Christian party always made sure that gonna be difficult, be happy you have Vinmonopolet near, mine on north-west coast is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but ain't really a problem with some planning. As I grew older, I actually like the strict policies on alcohol, gambling, speeding, drugs, prostitution. The silence on Sundays, only immigrants make noise before church hours on Sunday, it's actually illegal, no Norwegian cut their grass on Sundays. Yep, outside Oslo, it's super slooow, if you wanna live urban, Oslo is pretty much the only option. However, why live in Norway if seeking urban life style? :)

All the way down to the alcohol taxes as I don't really drink anyway. Only thing that would be more of an adjustment is the socializing 😂 Great video, thanks for this!!

    You are spot on with the less consumerism. You have to plan a lot more what you need when. Impuls buying is not possible, for sure not when you live rural. And with all that living is cheaper then in UK or NL where I am from. Yes items are more expensive, but you buy less items...

    Norway is a very small country. But it is long, and with a very small population. We have long distances to travel for "things". I know this is a bad example these days. But Gaza has about the half of the population of Norway....2,3 mill...in the space that's about our largest inland lake, Mjøsa. Point being, we have a LOT of space here. Things are far apart.

      Not a problem. Just say you are a refugee and need protection and the norwegian sosialist government will send a private plane to pick you up. They will give you a nice apartment or house and plenty of money so you can occationally go back to Sri Lanka for holiday. Just ask any somalian or afghan already living in Norway and you will get their guidance.

    I'm afraid you're a bit confused about stuff in Norway when it comes to production and import. Norway doesn't produce any clothes. Everything is imported. You may be right about it being better quality, but this is only because Norway is a high-cost economy, thus shops cannot live off the cheapest segment. The same goes for food.

    Good list, I think the outdoor life style is important, not all enjoy it, if you prefer busy and crowded cities, not gonna enjoy Norway. The water yes, but also the air, so clean. Wrt green space, I read somewhere that Oslo had 74% green space, anyway it's a trait for all city and villages, very close to nature. Not much snow in Bergen, but elsewhere should learn to ski :)

  • @torrust
    @torrust Рік тому

    yeah, Norway ain't for everybody, but we have a joke that Bergen ain't Norway. You on west coast and Bergen is surrounded by mountains, so when that shitty UK weather come from west and meet those mountains, the air need to go up and then air get cooled down, then it rains and rains. Bergen is one of the rainiest cities in Europe and when you meet someone from Bergen, they go on and on about their rain records. Oslo is much more dry, in fact all other Norwegian cities have less rain, you selected the wettest city in Norway. Yes, the darkness is awful, but imagine up north, no freakn Sun light at all during the dark period. I can't stand it, but Bergen is down south and not that dark. To enjoy all-year living in Norway, need to be mentally robust, you basically in no-mans land. During covid, social distancing was easy for us, just keep on what we already do, haha

    Come to my part of Norway and enjoy seasonal depression on a new level. 0 hours of light per day for a couple of months is perfect for depression. On the flip side, 24 hours of sun per day for a few months is amusing, so you win some you loose some.

      Agree. Besides; whether some people are "right" or "wrong" for you, highly depends on who you are, what type of people that you are compatible with etc. Pretty obvious, birds of a feather, u know.. As a Norwegian , I am definitely not compatible with every single citizen of my country, simply due to the fact that they are also Norwegian. Good chemistry develop when you meet another person and they sense a certain chemistry, common interests etc.

    There was a time, not very long ago, when most Norwegians aspired to have a "hytte" (cottage) out in the more non-settled areas, where you actually had to walk, ski or use a boat to get there. Today this has become sort of a big business, and many get that same "cottage" <laughs mockingly> in a planned area, with an access road, electricity and in-door water-supply for their toilets and kitchens... So, it's just a home-away-from-home, but in a different location, mostly.

    I think the Vinmonopol is a good thing. Everyone has the spare time, time enough to go there before closing time. It was much worse before, way back in older days. Think it s good that strong alcohol is not all over the place. Too easy access makes more people drink too much . Like in USA so many drunks and alcoholics . In Russia too. And other countries too. Too much alcohol anywhere is not good for anyone. Vinmonopolet has opening hours from 10 to 18 on weekdays. Open on saturdays till 15. Just need planning your shopping. Prices are too high I think. Taxes on alcohol is crazy wrong I think. Even if I dont drink much. We go to Sweden and buy alcohol 😊. Cheaper.
