Cool drums! What are you playing on, a 14" snare muted with rubber next to a 10" snare muted with rubber? Just a wild guess.
Terrific keep up the good work
Love it. Want to hear entire song.
No complaints watching this video!
What a fun project, the band was TIGHT and @c.l.fondal killed it!!!
This groove is so fire and CL’s aesthetic is my fave 💗 let’s gooooo
I love this!!!
This is what is known in certain municipalities as "certified sweetness"
And yet in other municipalities, it is known as STANK.
This is incredible, John! yay!!!
Thanks Katie!
It was a blast to be able to sing with all this damn talent ❤!!!
It was a blast to perform with you!
This is very tasty.
Powerful words coming from a connoisseur of taste.
not enough drums for me
This is a special video in documentation of your progress and creative spectrum as a musician and engineer. Really dig it. Also, 'Is scared of cymbal," was a nice touch. lol
Gotta do a lil something for the meme. Thanks, friend!
This is a good idea, intriguing concept and it's a good excuse to get some ears on your music! I almost wanted to steal it but my range has pretty much been the same since I was around 18. Sorry for the plug but if you want to hear some crazy low singing check out my mark lanegan cover from years ago. I don't even know how I did it because I can't even sing that low currently. But if this video is any guide the low notes from that song should be doable for you, being able to hit that low C is impressive!
You have an impressive range as well, my fellow music maker! In my experience, the functionality and accessibility of my lower range is entirely due to circumstance. It works in the morning, but not in the evening. The high notes seem to be more of a matter of practice and development.
amazing progression and great video overall! How did you learn to do mixed voice? any specific techniques that helped you? i struggle with finding the right "spot" for mixed voice.
I have no idea. I find it impossibly difficult to describe any of the specific muscles that I'm engaging. Play around with it! Do silly voices. Be stupid. Make weird sounds til something works. That's all I know how to do.
*NOT A VOCAL COACH* OK, possibly better answer here. I find that reaching high notes for me was a combination of muscle development and learning to use only the upper part of my voice. I used to have the tendency to use all of my voice, resonating from bottom to top for everything, so if I wanted to sing higher, I would just squeeze tighter and push more air. Not always a great idea. I think it's a matter of finding ways to use only the parts of your voice that you need, learning little by little to work more efficiently. Finding something that is NOT falsetto, but it's closer to falsetto than your normal voice. So I'd try experimenting with "less of this, more of that", changing variables little by little to find what works best.
Your voice has come such a long way since you were on the podcast back in the day.
I a man now
Man, everything I hear from you is in this new classic vein! Lots of influence from early Folk music but with your really smooth engineering. Please keep it up~
Beautiful, balanced and graceful.
This song is sweetness
Your album is sweetness
I know this guy!
I love this one, listen to it often in the car. Thanks for the CD and never stop writing!
So skilled, as always, John. Great sound and I love the bass solo on this! Lovely.
Thanks Mellissa!
This is lyrically riveting. I love that I have no idea what path it is taking.
Nice Production! Who does your mastering?
No live drums? Lame
Good stuff..
tight, nice work
Thanks, fellow namesake!
Yessss 🤩
that job naldwin is one cool customer
This just showed up in my UA-cam feed and it's awesome! Super catchy and fun 👏
Hi John! I love this! :) and I also loved meeting you recently and have been meaning to message you ever since...so hello! Anyway, very exciting things you are doing and can't wait to hear the new album.
Thanks! Let's make something!
@@johnbaldwinmusic Yes please! :)
Do you even drum bro?
Look at this guy, big Denver musician doing lots of things. Doesn't he know that I started all of this? I'm the original channel. Y'all should know that.
heehee
Good 👍
Excellent job. Great loops and lyrical content. Plus, you nailed that thumb nail.
Wonderful
Pretty good. But why do you look like theres a gun pointed at your head?
Look, the people that I work with have very strict standards. Sometimes I get a bit anxious about making sure that my performances are up to par. But I know it's because they love me and expect the best of me. In fact, some days I feel like no matter what I do, there will always OH GOD HERE THEY COME
@@johnbaldwinmusic hahaha John
You built everything in that room didn't you hahaha cool video recording space and nice song!
👍 Good job John, really nice ^~^
You made that drum beat in the blink of an eye. Great job.
Hey man, I met you a few weeks ago at Corner Beet Open Mic night. You did a rendition of Sun Don't Shine by Sonnentanz, and I've never heard anyone cover it before! You gave me a copy of this album and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for creating. I am truly in awe of you, of your artistry. You are a God. Hope to see you there again! Kori xx
I like the fact that you have used some industrial sounds, as well as some nature sounds. But, I do think that sometimes your mix is too saturated, and some other times your vocals out of tune. A good track nontheless 👍
Thanks for the input! I am aware of this, as it was my decision to deviate from my typical sound with a noisier, bolder, and perhaps at times more disorienting mix. Immersiveness and boldness are the feelings I was going for, so if the elements seem a bit jarring, I am OK with that.
Alright then *:)*
Your songwriting rocks. So. Good.
