There is a HUGE (and I mean huge) flaw in the kingkiller chronicles. How is it Chronicler wrote Mating Habits of the Common draccus, later kvothe read it at University, but Chronicler heard stories about Kvothe’s escapades at the University? Are we dealing with time travel or poor storytelling?

When it comes to Patrick Rothfuss and George RR Martin (Martin especially) I remember the guy who essentially made modern fantasy and the guy who influenced not just both of them but most modern fantasy writers and my fav, Tad Williams and his third book in his foundational 'Memory Sorrow and Thorn' series. Williams was heavily criticized back in the early 90s by many literary circles and fantasy fans that he took a whopping 3 years to be able to finish his final Book To Green Angel Tower. a lot of writers found this to be extremely indulgent of him and akin to scaming his fans since he had a schedule to release his books. I cant remember which literary critic who said it was so I might be misquoting but they said 'no matter how eloquent or sophisticated the end product is, you still have a deadline and a fulfilment to your audience. Hemingway was on schedule. Does Tad think he's more important than hemingway?' george even stood up at a book signing when Tad came in and yelled 'what do you think you're doing here!? Get back home and finish to green angel tower!' Tad did finish his book however, a massive tomb of over a million words so big it had to be divided into two paperbacks. I think Patrick and George should look back at the guy who inspired their literary word and be inspired by his work ethic as well.

You're not missing much they are some of the worst books I've ever read. Some of the most overpraised, trash writing that is ever been put before my eyes. The second book is basically just him having a sex fantasy about how he's a sex god with fairies that's not even an exaggeration. Unequivocally everyone who's ever told me they love this book is an incel. I just can't wait until they all finally admit it when he dies and the book still isn't done

The firsr book was great, but i think he started to loose it midway through the second book. At a point i wondered if it was a different story. There is no way he can successfully complete what he set up in just one book. That could be part of why he is struggling so hard to write it. With the amount of things that need to happen from where book 2 ended to where he is as an Inn owner, there is no way it can only be written in a book. I doubt we ever going to see a book 3, so i stopped bothering myself about it.

It’s simple as to why there is no book 3. He Loves the attention, whether positive or negative from people talking about where book 3 is. let’s face it, he popular to an extent but that popular compared to george r r martin for example and he is desperately holding on to thst little attention he has left. Once the book is released interest in what he does next will disappear.

People often defend authors by saying “They don’t owe you anything/you don’t own them” or “George RR Martin is not your bitch” as Neil Gay-man put it. But there comes a point where it’s like “do some work you fat nerd”

I totally agree. As an author and creative with ADHD, finishing larger projects sometimes feels impossible. Meeting smaller goals feels amazingly successful. Your book Finish Your Story has been very helpful, too.

I gave up on that hack years ago. He turned out to be a serial grifter and charlatan. And by the way, book 2 is poorly written. Deanna is a dreadful character, she seems like a monster besides being a boor and boring.

Name of the Wind is very overrated in my opinion. I had heard great things and had high hopes. It felt like he was trying to make his own Harry Potter world with a Brandon Sanderson magic system and an edgy revenge backstory. It might have gone better if the main character wasn't so annoying with how he told his own story: "Let me tell you about this most amazing beautiful woman, oh it's the girl I had already been talking about oops" "I taught myself how to play on a continusly breaking violin i'm soooo talented" "ughh dragons aren't real but let me tell you about how I killed something that any sane person would classify as a dragon".

Rothfuss is not an imaginative visionary , he is a base crass man who is arrogant and abrasive , look at the "cards against humanity" , a game that appeals to a low standard mentality , all combine to create doubt as to his ability to write the KKC , but blessed with enough rat cunning to steal another persons work , and to promote himself as to his parlous state of mind

simply put , Rothfuss never wrote the books , just put his name to it , and whoever did for some reason will not write ,or release , the third installment , and the reason would be money , probably promised and ripped off by Rothfuss, hence the no show , and if it did get released by the original author he has probably threatened to sue for copyright , so it will never happen . Many authors use ghost writers to accomplish what they can't /won't so why should rothfuss be any different ? because he doesn't have the imagination that created the first books, therefore can't relate any ideas to a ghost writer

As a writer, I can say that having people pester you about something that they're interested that you created doesn't entitle them to your media. If you have an issue with Patrick not releasing his story right one that can Garner as much critical Acclaim as him and then shut up and collect your rewards

He's a hack. Always hiding behind things. He just wrote himself into a corner, either his anxiety is super strong (easily fixable with his resources) or he can cynically bank off and have an easier life by just letting it hang.

Patrick is very lucky to have such a large fanbase, only to treat them like trash or replaceable income. Many aspiring writers would have killed to be in his position. Also wtf does he stream about in the first place? If hes that tired of being asked about the third book then he shouldnt be streaming.

Name of the Wind. The first popular fantasy book that I completely hated. Which really surprised me. It was like a bootleg harry potter with none of the exciting parts and the main character is a mary sue(perfect at everything with no practice). Utter garbage.

I think that he got sucked up by the LGBTQ ideology which heavily weights on current media. Therefor, he is unable to set forth the path he once had without the LGBTQ propaganda. Like in the newest book with Bast, which is pretty good, he definitely went and created that LGBTQ mess in there aswell. While there is no mix of skin tones (which does not make sense if people live anywhere for dozens of generations) we have explicit gay and trans characters. And I believe that his "old view" of stuff, which I would call common sense is not his current view anymore. He does not like how he depicted women for example and he can not repeat it. Because poor guy got brainwashed.

Yet he released two side stories? Wouldnt you say that would discount writers publishing anxiety. Also hard to compare you releasing your first novel and his 5th or 6th and his first novel was published almost 20 years ago. Yet would be nice if he was more honest.

Nor he nor us are ready for the third book yet. The day shall come and it is not today.

Perhaps Brandon Sanderson can finish it he did a decent job with wheel of time even if his own works don't captivate me much. Why you tube recommends this to me now I have no idea as I have not even googled Patrick Rothfuss in at least 5 years.

Dear Commenters. Rothfuss does not OWE you his writing and his creativity. YOU are not ENTITLED to what he offers. This is about YOUR mental health and generic narcissism where Rothfuss not completing things is somehow about YOU. He has ADHD and the resulting lack of self-confidence. He is struggling with making CHOICES under pressure and unless you have that brain issue, you DO NOT UNDERSTAND it. You can't see inside someone else's head. So why not just shrug and go on with your life? WHY make it harder for him by attacking him and accusing him of being able to control all that but choosing not to? How the F would you know that?

This is highly underrated, quick concise and straight to the point.
