I fish pretty much all the channel up to sully. It’s defiantly not a place for beginners as the tides can be cruel. Places like Oxwich bay are a great place to learn anchoring before tackling marks like sully.

Hi Lyndon, I was use the standard seat that comes with the trident 13. I have thought about buying a cushion but just haven’t got round to it. I find sitting like that for 8 hours is okay, makes your legs go jelly when coming back in at the end of the session though.

I launched from the Knap in Barry, but minehead is pretty much on the opposite side of the channel.

@JWAFISHING Ah nice. Would love to do a bit of sea kayaking but Bristol Channel won't be the place to do it! 😆

Thanks mate, if you have no experience anchoring a kayak I wouldn’t bother with the Bristol Channel at all with the exception of Oxwich Bay by Swansea as that’s nice and sheltered and out the tide. But if you’re not Fishing , I know people do Kayak in the Bristol channel up by Portishead but I would only do it on small tides and keep away from battery point. You really need to know what you’re doing out there. I personally haven’t done it but You could go for a paddle on the flooding tide at Clevedon and get out at Portishead.

Yeah, some good turbot on the skerries too! Ideally drift for them with a 5ft trace with a mackerel or Sand eel bait. Drifting over the bank on a kayak is hard work as the tide can really pull.

I used a shimano stc travel rod, 40-300gr. The rod had 2 top sections 300gr for the heavy section and I think the lighter section was rated to 130gr Reel: penn spinfisher Line: 80lb braid with 80lb leader

Hi Lyndon, Yes I can do a kayak set up video, works taken over a little at the moment hints I haven’t posted for a while. My kayak trolly is collapsible so fits into the front storage hatch.
