When I first heard Cat Anderson play "Birth of the Blues" up 2 octaves with Lionel Hampton's Band, I thought it was "impossible", then a few years later I found myself in that same chair. I didn't know I had an "E" above double "C". Anyway he sometimes made me do it 3 times until I couldn't do it anymore and if he knew I had friends or family in the audience, he wouldn't feature me. I do rememb...

This is a promo for the newly released CD called "Ladies" by Walt Johnson. Features Frank Sinatra Jr., Ron Feuer, Mike Smith, Bob McChesney and Paul Tavenner. It's all songs with Ladies' names. Ron Feuer pulled out all the stops with these great orchestrations.

A song from the "Con Vision Clara" CD filmed in Mexico
Amazing trumpet playing!!! I also love how hard the band is swinging and those gorgeous smiles on the folks in the audience. Bravo!
I cannot overstate how much this video affected me as a young musician. Love ya Walt!
I had the honor of playing third trumpet next to this master on a few tv dates. I am still in awe of his power and presence. His cases, not so much. 😊
Why would he not feature you if you had family in the crowd?
This is absolutely insanity and ridiculous in the most amazing way imaginable! Man does that get my blood pumping! Awesome stuff. I’ve listened to it 100 or more times over the years since you posted it here. Is there a shout section lead part ever played that compares to this? Serious question!! The power, endurance, accuracy, it’s incredible! Sorry for shouting but that’s what this does to me, gets me fired up!!! 😁
It is great to hear Walt again. I was lucky to be in the Band with him at Ft Ord in ‘68.-‘69 before he went to Nam. And he still has that great sound.
Hamp loved him! Well of course!!
Show me a person who says "playing high isn't everything" and I'll show you a person who can't play high. That's the only reason they say that! 'Cause they CAN'T!
Like the great Jon Faddis said, not everyone is meant to play high, walt s range is absolutely ridiculous! 😵, And then he had to repeat 🔁 ..range , power, endurance and of course ... He's a natural! That's not 🚫 for everyone
What year was this?
Gorgeous! Doesn't get any better! Thanks for sharing this....
Absolutely superb!
How IN the F!! Walt!!!! I Played lead for years and had some decent power and up to Dub C but THAT is a totally different stratosphere you are living in there AND making music its UNREAL man!!!! Just WOW man!
The chops!!! And to do it all again on the reprise!!
Beautiful, Walt!!! Love it!!!
Nice you got to ride the 'snake' with Dan. He gave me a ride in this same car out at Willow Springs. Awesome car.
iron chops , great.
Walt, I have had a snippet of this on my computer for years, and watching the entire clip is even more incredible. I have heard MF live, Arturo, James Morrison, Jon Faddis, love listening to Bill Chase, but this clip gets me every time. Love it. period.
Same here, I mean this is just ridiculous. Nothing compares.
Awesome!!
WALTER JOHNSON AMAZING. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL BAND MEMBERS OF ELVIS PRESSLEY. SAW HIM THIS YEAR WITH SINATRA JR., STILL GREAT RANGE, AND VERY HUMBLE.
Very cool Walt, must have been a kick working with a number of the original TCB crew again. Good to see James Burton, he's the man! Was that you playing the solo on "It's Now or Never" back in the day?
Walt great recording! What is your equipment set up now days? How about on the London Gig album on Santos? Has your equipment been similar over the years? Thanks
Nice, Walt.
no amount of study and practise will allow one to play in this stratospheric range without the natural gift of talent
kick ass trumpet!!!! wow!!!!amazing!!!!
thats cool!!!!!!!!!! how do u do that
Beautiful! Jeez! Just amazing!
I love this work. It's full of life. Beautifully done. Blessings to you. Grateful to hear Mr. Sinatra's voice. More!!!!
Yeah man!!
I sent Bob an apology for misspelling his name. Of course it's McChesney
Absolutely amazing!!!
Kick Ass Walt.
