I really hated this fight...the flashing, holy, after-effects and the cross slash that he does, completely ruined it for me. The only fight I actually liked in this DLC, was Messmer's, but otherwise, the story was great. Does not help I did it on NG+8...really really bad decision

The dragonslayer armour is not Orstein!! The armour belonged to one of the 3 or 4 dragonslayers who served under gwyn (i dont remember how many there were). Orstein was the first dragonslayer and this armour belonged to a different one.
