This one is hard to beat, I fish it for everything! Pink is one of my go to colors for anadromous fish in the salt, like pinks, coho, and sea run Cutthroat. There are many other great variations, try a top wing of olive Marabou for a deadly freshwater version!

Pink Handlebar | Fly Tying Tutorial | Pink Salmon Flies

A true west coast staple, the Pink Handlebar! Quick to tie and deadly effective, this one should be a mainstay in any coastal box. Stainless or nickel plated hooks never hurt, but heck you'll probably loose them on a fish or backcast before they rust out. Happy Fishing! Building a Wooden Landing Net - Mayne Angling
Where did you purchase the 1/8” cutting bit to cut the net grove?
Can’t wait for the next video and for us to all be sweating inside together 😊
Impressive video, Mayne & Tide. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the amazing work. I'm curious about the decision to use beveled siding-what factors influenced your choice over other styles, especially considering the weather challenges you faced?
Cheers!! The choice of siding ended up being an aesthetic one mostly. It was between that or tongue and groove / shiplap, and I figured having a fair overlap on the bevel would work best inn the weather, and was less work to mill too!
the sauna is looking awesome and the video turned out great mon frére!!!! super stoked for you and grateful we got to share that time together!
@@shaunrawlins you are such a beauty thanks again man!!
@ that’s you too buddy!!!
nice work, gotta make me a few of these
Cool!
You don't need new chisels. Google chisel sharpening and you will be good.
I tracked down a few narex ones and they are alot more ergonomic! I have my sharpening system relatively dialed in and am getting pretty happy with results!
Awesome build
Thank you so much!
Very nice! Love the spalted beech wood. Where would we be without painter's tape? Thought you would have used pipe clamps and a strip of old inner tube as a pad. I was interested by cutting the end cap at 15 degrees. You work fast! Thanks for the video.
Cheers! I might have to give the inner tube a try! I've done a few more since then with good success but that might make things easier!
Great! Do find any problems with face grain?
When its in smaller sections not at all! If it were one wide piece or all the strips went in the same direction then it might see some warping issues or wear a lot quicker!
is that epoxy you use to fill the cracks food safe?
Nice job buddy, loved that vid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The teeth
Don’t look like a steelhead
Loved this!
it’s possible to catch them on even years?
@@calderjones5850 depends on location but yes, some rivers have fish every year, while other runs are predominantly even yeared!
@@mayneandtide sweet! pinks are always a fun one to target. especially on the fly!

@@FlyFishFairwx cheers!!
So cool. This is something I hope to do more of in the future - fly fish for pinks. I tend to always jig for them considering they are just so easy to catch 😅
Thanks for sharing 👏🏽
I have a sawmill and cnc router, thinking about making some now.

Lovely! ❤ 🌲
what a wonderful little adventure it was!!! grateful to share the experience with the “okay company” 😂😝
🤣had to do it🤣
How about the “Big Dipper” for a name on that giant net? Nice work on those nets.
Every pizza oven business needs one of these with their logo on it!
What a great video that gives me the incentive to finish my second net which I started about 15 years ago! The American black walnut and English ash strips are already cut and the Snakewood handle just needs taking down to the same thickness as the strips but wow is it hard to plane with my hand plane as the grain runs in every direction it can - still, nothing like a challenge. Interesting to see you routing the groove in the frame; as I only make a net for myself I think that instead of buying a cutter or two I'll stick to using a ground hacksaw blade in a scratch block. Anyway thanks for a really soothing 25 minutes, it's pity I can't smell the wood during the process but at least I don't have to wear the mask when I'm only watching.
Cheers and thanks so much! Glad it gives you the incentive to finish it off! Snakewood can be a pain for sure- I often leave mine with extra thickness and then put it through my drum sander or hit it with really coarse sandpaper to level as needed to avoid tear out. My first few nets I did just freehand the channel with a hack saw blade and then a thinner file to cut the groove, so that is a great idea for sure! I would draw on the line, then just indent it first with the back of the blade as a guideline, and then put some depth to it. You don't need to take it that deep if you are using a smaller diameter twine!
Go team go!!
You’re amazing!! Such a cute greenhouse and dog 🐶
Looks awesome. Thinking of building a couple of these. Did you consider zip ties instead of tape and clamps for the glue-up?
I would still use the tape to line up the pieces, but zip ties could possibly work, although if not tensioned evenly they might collapse the shape. They would only contact on the corners of the joints which might make them splay. Worth a shot though!
Use mine everyday! Great design ❤
