Hello Denimheads and welcome to The Sons of Selvedge - a new podcast where a group of friends get together to talk about denim, rugged wear, and related interests. We aim for this to be a fun and inclusive podcast where you feel like you’re hanging out with long-time friends - but be warned, there is a bit of banter, cutting-up and explicit language. We generally discuss topics related to our lifestyle, feature guests from our community, while keeping things as casual as possible - as if we were all hanging-out in person.

Hello denimheads, and welcome to a 5x1 review. Here we’ll tell you five things you need to know about one rugged good. In this episode we’ll look at the Merz B. Schwanen 2S14 Super Heavyweight T-Shirt. S is for slub, 14 is for a relaxed fit. Corrections: 0:10: This shirt is style 2S14 rather than 215. '14' means it's a relaxed cut rather than '15' which is a classic cut. 'S' means that it is a ...

The xl fits you perfectly! The shoulders in this brand are super narrow..
Sorry you said it, should’ve watched the rest of the video 😂
All good! Thanks for watching our content
I now own four pieces from Tellason, and I love them all. They are a treat to live in. This jacket looks no different.
Such a great brand, and Pete and Tony are stand up guys.
This tshirt was designed as an undershirt originally, which probably the reason for the gusset and the wide neckline.
I wonder how light the original version would have been?
@ good point about the weight. This 215 is basically the 1950s tee but heavier weight fabric.
What size do you recommend for someone 6’ 200 lbs, muscular?
Hard to say as everyone is a different shape. I think the best advice is to find what looks like a good fit measurement wise and then take one larger
Need those chores back
I know right? Not to copy or anything, but I’m like, maybe I can make my own, unedited by these
I just purchased this jacket I have the green version and blanket lined both in an Xl.. I'm 5'10" 194lbs with 20inch shoulders and 46 chest and the jackets fit perfect . I probably could have gone with a large but would not be able to layer anything so I rolled the dice and went with an XL again
Great pickups! I was in a similar situation where I took L, and maybe could have gone M, but the layering capability is great.
@sonsofselvedgepodcast yes and thank you for the great product review it was very helpful and influential in my decision to purchase the jacket.. so when making my first purchase from Tellason I wasn't familiar with their sizing, and I reached out to them, and Tony made the sizing recommdatiom . I live on the northeast coast, and during the fall months, most people will layer . But anyways I love the style of the jacket and the company makes great quality products.
I had the same problem of heal slip with my Jl's,. Using a half insole solved my problem of heal slip.
I think they have a lot of room in the instep, which might be why, but I guess some amount of this is needed to pull them on. For some reason, cowboy boots seem to have mitigated this to a degree
Which half-insole did you use btw?
What’s your height and weight and pants size?
6ft2, 165lbs, usually a 32w34l
@@sonsofselvedgepodcast thank you!!!!!
@davidthompson1573 thanks for tuning in
Would love to Listen more to this Podcast, but please improve the Audio quality significantly
Thanks for the feedback! It’s our first time recording in person, and we have a lot to learn. Hopefully we can keep improving.
@@sonsofselvedgepodcast great Podcast, nice topic(s) but ya, Audio Quality for a Podcast is damn important
What an incredible episode! Keep up the excellent work. Thank you! Greetings directly from Portugal.
Thanks for listening! Hope Portugal is awesome
Great episode! I’ve been listening to the podcast for a couple years, and love the laid back, hang out style discussion. The video format for this episode is great - really cool to see some of the material and product, and to put a face to the voice as well!
Thanks for the support. We’ll definitely be doing more videos of this type of
thank you, this is my holy grail.
What size are you? Selling my pair of size 31, they’re a tad small
Nice review sir! Keep up the good stuff
Thanks, will do! Lots more to come.
@@sonsofselvedgepodcast yeah looking forward to it! but why you buttoned the last button? just wondering
@negatiff3411 I always make use of all buttons on my garments. I figured if they put buttons then they’re there to be used.
@@sonsofselvedgepodcast Got it. Sounds sensible
@@sonsofselvedgepodcast Last button is actually aesthetic and not to be used. To each their own of course, but it doesn’t take a discerning gentleman to know this or notice how all buttons fastened looks “off”. This is not even a cheap blazer, despite being unstructured, so I’m not sure why we are shrugging all fashion etiquette.
Tellason makes a lot of stuff in Italy too
True.
Have you managed to get any fades on this? I basically only wear black and am after something that'll get some nice fades.
I have one, it fades but not as much as jeans, 50-60 wears in 0 washes/Soak and im starting too see some especially in the arm creases and elbow areas. Mine is Selvedge
The denim definitely has the potential, but it’s a ways off from being well faded.
It's a shame about the sole separation and lack of help in their response. I know they have a resoling surface that they offer and I've had positive experiences in the past but that was with a pair of their Made in USA line (beautiful Maine Guide boots) so maybe they have a distinction there.
Yeah, it’s a shame. Will be selling this on, on the cheap.
The American version of Iron Heart. Beautiful piece!
I feel like Freenote has their own secret sauce that makes them special in their own way. Vintage Americana inspiration, cool fabrics and unique patterns.
Nice color. I’m gonna order one now
Awesome, tell us how it is when you get it!
This is insane. I bought it and the texture is super slubby.
Yeah, this denim is incredible. Such a dope shirt.
Dude, put. The stupid. Jacket. On!!! Show us how it fits! Come on, man
Haha, will do! I'll add that in going forward.
I'm willing to bet you can tell me all kinds of historical facts about denim but you don't research who you vote for. Interesting and sad.
Definitely don’t put your money on that bet!
not a bad thing? well its certainly not such a good thing either.. I will stick with RGT
Made in America, unfortunately, no longer means made better. It’s definitely worth evaluating provenance on a garment per garment basis. RGT definitely makes great stuff, but the fit is quite different from TS, so that’s worth factoring in too.
Made in America only means more expensive, not better quality. That (American made equals better quality) has been a lie you've swallowed in order to pay higher prices.
What your height and weight for sizing reference?
6ft2, 160lbs, 34” inseam
Nice, man I bought the stealth black. Been wearing it for 6 months, just did the first wash. It’s usually harder to fade dark denim. That jacket look amazing, cheers bro.
Thanks! I must have had it for eight years or so. I had a black one for about ten, and it faded magnificently. You won’t be disappointed
Amazing boots. I have a pair of the full size Maine Guide boot and they're worth the price tag.
I just got a pair of the eight hole version in black CXL on sale. I think they fit a tad looser due to all of the layers of leather not giving in as easily to the last, but I’m loving them.
@sonsofselvedgepodcast currently going through the same issue, i am loving mine to the ooint that i took em to a local shoe repeair to add a leather patch to the back heel/anckle area to lessen that slippage. Mine is in fo brown roughout and I am loving the leather so much.
Footage of you wearing the items would be a good addition:)
I agree!
Good idea! Will do a “fit check” on the next one
Good show, enjoyed it. Would be nice to know your Instagram names/account name for us who don´t know.

That blacked out model looks super nice. Almost looks like a boot sneaker with the wedge sole.
Yeah, they're pretty great. Almost all of my shoes are solid black now, lol!
Are yuketen shoes true to size . Or should I size up?
Sorry I never saw this before! It depends on where they are made, as they manufacture in the USA, Portugal and Mexico. For the USA-made handsewns, they are true-to-size in my opinion, matching my Brannock size (US 11) correctly. For the Portugal-made shoes, sold in EU sizing, I had to go up one from a 44 to 45, which they claim is a US 12. I've read online that their made in Mexico shoes run large, but I haven't tried them.
Size down champ and get them stretched. Little slip in your natural size
Love yuketen
Such a great maker. I really love the craft and quality.
Thanks guys!!
Any time!
