I don't want to make only Mitsubishi videos but being that the Mitsubishi Mirage is being discontinued I am going to be posting two different videos on them that are not my car. A fully loaded hatchback and sedan. I do plan on making other videos on different cars as well. But in this video I am just showing you what the fully loaded sedan looks like.

In this video, I drove the entire length of Highway 111 in California. It is a 130 mile highway going from Calexico, California, to Whitewater, California, entirely in the desert, running right along the Salton Sea at times with great views. It does go right through Palm Springs, which is quite nice, I've never seen it in the day before, and yet again, this time I was on it at night once again....

My 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES has broke, but it was also fixed under warranty. The light for the shifter broke, it was just a simple light bulb, so a very easy fix, about a 30 minute job. But I had the dealer do it, as it was covered under the 36,000 mile warranty.

Very late. Hopefully everyone can rebuild quickly! Lots of old (likely nice) cars where burned sadly.. Not many of the old ones left, it's sad when a huge amount of them get burnt like that.

Edison, the power company, also shows which chargers work during an outage. (:
If they are in public. You can record. This is not europe.
I know, they where very upset and bossy.
And when we get a foot of snow and the fuel tanker trucks can't get around, the gas pumps run out of gas.
Yup! You can just charge at home if you have power. Plus, gas pumps as well don't work when the electric is off.
We didn’t have power for a couple days so my EV powered everything in my home we needed. The breaker panel is only 240V @ 200A or 64 horsepower, not even a fifths of the cars power so even the whole house maxed is very low load on the battery compared to full power. When it got low, I fast charged it up to ferry more electrons back home.
How far was the charger you had to drive to?
I am thankful that I have Solar Panels and Tesla Power Walls. Didn't even know there was a power outage.
That is awesome!
Wasn't one of the selling points for Ford or Tesla EVs was that you could power you home with the EV in case of some natural disaster? I thought that was a pretty cool selling point.
It’s called vehicle to load or vehicle to home and I used it the last power outage so nothing would spoil in any refrigerator, and we had lights and everything else we needed. Though it was just V2L so I used some extension cords.
Yes, you can power your house with an EV. (:
Wonder if gas pumps with during power outages? I'll answer that, typically no! Shit video. Bad question.
Gas pumps don't work during power outages. What is wrong with the video? I'm open to improving, but just saying "s##t video", I can't work with that. When I talk about EV's, the main thing I hear is "what if the power goes out?", so this video I answered the question.
"Charging an electric vehicle during a power outage." - YOU DON'T!!!!!!!
@Marc816 my whole house generator begs to differ. Also, just prior to a storm I always fill up with petrol the v8 and charge up the tesla. Just like my pappy always said to do
Just look around, some chargers even have solar setups, you can charge off solar. It's great. Or drive to a normal charger that works if needed.
How come there’s even a power outage weather seems fine is there too little power production becouse too few power plants
It's because it was windy, and the power was shut off to prevent a fire, and it stayed off 8 hours after the wind ended.. I don't understand either.
Gas stations no longer need electricity.... awesome
In a pinch, you can just use a hand pump to pump electrons in your battery, or pour electricity from an electrican...
The gas pump needs electric.. It's in the name. Pump. It needs electric to pump the gas to your car. I went to gas stations, and they didn't work.
They don’t have the right to not be recorded if in public view
Unless you monetize the video, then you may need a release or pay the person.
@@stevekight1955Not in the US.
@ Yes, in the U.S., depending on the circumstances.
Perhaps he politely asked and he respected their decision.
I said I was going to record a video, they where fine, when I started they asked me to not show their car or face, I said that is hard since I want to show the charging station, I said if she doesn't want to be seen, to move somewhere else in the parking lot since she's not charging either. She told me to leave, I ignored her and started recording, either way she called the cops on me, the cop must have been in the parking lot when she called, they got there nearly instantly, and told her I'm allowed to record. I wasn't being mean, I just tried to work out why she didn't want to be recorded, what her worry is, stuff like that.
Gas stations need to have generators... And If the end of days happens you can suck it out with a hose
gas pumps need electricity
There are hand pumps and you can use a gas generator to pump the gas. You aren't using generators to charge electric cars. I know you think you are bright but you aren't.
Gas stations dont have backup generators and they dont sit there and hand pump gas into your car. Power goes out station is closed. Have a great day.
I went to several gas stations, and even Costco, the gas pumps didn't work. I found more EV charging stations that worked than gas pumps.
@thomgizziz Don't be rude.
"pee-yower" Love it. Hope your family stays safe!
Thank you! Lol.
Just out of curiosity how do you pump gasoline without electricity?
With a lot of difficulty 🤣
Since most gas stations are already mini-marts with food, they need standby generators to run the pumps and keep the food from thawing. So finding a gas station open in a power outage is pretty easy.... they're the ones that have the lights on.
You can't.
Many gas stations I went to didn't work, more stations didn't work for fuel than electric.
@ Virtually every gas station has a backup generator because the losses from spoiled food would pay for the generator. The only ones that may not have a generator would be gas-only stations that don't do repairs. But if you have a repair shop associated with the gas, they also have a generators because of the potential business losses.
12:07 48c/kwh * 33.4kwh/gal-of-gasoline = $16/gal-equivalent. that is very expensive fuel
If you have an EV best to be able to charge at home and even better have solar panels. Only having on street parking and EV not a good idea lol
Not how the conversion works... stop. 33.4kwh for a tesla model 3 will go 160 miles of range. You are either really disingenuous or really really really really slow.
Yes, but you're forgetting an ICE car only uses about 30% of that to power the wheels. An EV uses about 80% of that to power the wheels. That's why it's cheaper to operate. My 500e gets about 140 MPGe (equivalent). About $4 go 35 miles in my old gas car, $2 in my 500e if I charge at home. Some Safeways and Walgreens let you charge for about an hour for free (longer if nobody pays attention).
Yes! Our electric here is silly expensive! I pay $0.67/KWh at my house.
@gold3084 I agree! Though, for some reason power is more expensive at my house, than at a super charger.. Why!? I don't get it. Lol.
There are almost 40 million people in California. So I would say most people do have power and those with electric cars can drive to a charger that is working.
Yes! I 100% agree! The biggest complaint I hear is "what if there's a power outage?", but it's not a big deal.
@@extralock1045 Then stop clickbaiting.
How do you know which chargers are working without driving all around?
@@teekay_1 There are apps for that.
@@thomgizziz Where am I click baiting? I don't clickbait. "What if the power goes out?", and I drove around and checked out chargers.
You should bring a generator truck and charge people to charge their EV's 😂 Desil is king!
Why? It's very easy to charge it.
Oddly Walmart only shows free EV charging in AR and TX.
That's awesome!
Here in Australia there is free EV charging at some supermarkets and hardware stores but it's not fast charging.
@@gold3084 That is perfect!
If Walmart has a generator, it could not support 1 DC fast charger. You do realize these need 480V at a couple of hundred AMPS. OTOH a single L2 charger could work (240V 30-50 Amps)
Yes but they could also reduce the power output for each charger. And share between them.
At the same time there are plenty of other chargers that actually worked. It didn't just have to be walmart. Just drive to a different charger that has power. Usually the electrical company will tell you which charger is actually work during a power outage.
Guess what? Gas pumps do not work without POWER either.
Generators ,it's a law now that gas stations in NJ must have back up power source. After Sandy most stations have them. I can fill up my car with gas in less than 5 minutes.
You have a good point! I went to Costco for gas, and could not get gas, pumps didn't have power.
EV's can charge pretty quickly too .
#gascans
@@extralock1045 COSCO has generators for sale normally, just need electrician to hook on u[p to pumps

The gas pump was closed too it needs electric to be powered.
With a EV you can run it as long as you want at an idle and not have to worry about burning up your catalytic converters or anything. You can quite literally charge your whole house off an electric vehicle. Electric vehicles also require less maintenance. A simple electric vehicle has less things to break as well. Electric vehicles have instant torque as well which is pretty neat. It's like teleporting like in Minecraft with the ender pearl. You don't never have to go to a gas station for the most part. You just charge at home. I really don't see any downsides for 99% of the population with owning an electric vehicle. At most a level 2 charger should be just fine.
@@extralock1045 for how long? pretty sure that wouldnt do more than 10 hrs. Either way good video checking out the situation.

its private property, it's not owned by the city.
If it's private property but open to the public like a parking lot that is not fenced it's perfectly allowed to record. If it is surrounded by a fence it is still allowed to record inside the fence even if it says no trespassing if it's visibly visible let's say through a chain link fence. But if it's a brick fence and you're climbing up and over it might not be allowed.

Yes, I did mention that several times in the video if I'm not mistaking. I much prefer the hatchback, you can fold the seats in it. (:
Is there a No U-turn sign? If not, the DOT/County/City is at-fault. They need to assign the right-of-way when a u-turn and right-turn overlap conflict.
There is in fact a no u-turn sign.
On the backend, I can see people in general are not liking this video with all the dislikes, what can be improved? Let me know. Thanks! I drove to 12 electric vehicle charging stations in Lake Elsinore, and Wildomar, California, to see which ones had power, and which ones did not have power.

400k isn't most of california. That is about 1% of californians. Get a grip on reality.
@ When did I say that was most of California? It's a huge power outage for us but not near the whole state, there are close to, if not more people here than in the whole country of Canada.
Tight editing is the key to keep people interested. I have no issue with it though.

Great review. Just bought the '24 SE. Very good information regarding the differences on this trim.
Thanks! How do you like it? Do you have the hatchback?
@extralock1045 so far I really like it. I had been eyeing the Mirage for a while. When i heard 2024 is the last year model I pulled the trigger to get one while I can, new off the lot. I like the idea of a simple, basic, everything you need and nothing you don't vehicle. Something cheap to own and maintain and is reliable, with quality features for a low price. I own the G4 sedan. I like how the sedan looks better than the hatchback.
I am seriously considering buying a new Mirage here in Michigan... before they are all gone. Cannot decide between the two body styles but like the color white. Definitely would opt for the.SE trim. I'm feeling under pressure. Glad you like yours. Wondering if the dealers are doing much price dealing at this point. @@cd1450
Is it normal for the CVT to feel like it shifts? It seems mine feels like a regular automatic transmission at times. I’m new to the Mirage and I don’t know if certain things are normal or not. This video helped a lot with a few of my questions, I’m always worried about the CVT.
Yes, 100% normal. The CVT actually does shift! It has 2 gears in it, plus a torque converter. The torque converter is like a clutch, it's locked up between 0-10 MPH roughly, then the RPM drops. I heard if it's very cold outside, it can stay locked for longer, and the RPM will be higher for longer. The car is in 1st gear between 10-30 MPH roughly, then it "shifts" to 2nd, which it uses for higher speeds. 1St is more torque, 2nd is for better MPG. The RPM stays the same between gears, but you might see the RPM bounce slightly, or feel the car not speed up for a moment. If you come to almost a stop but don't stop, then step on the gas, it can make a clunk sound, and jerk, that is also normal. Change the CVT fluid every 25,000 to 30,000 miles, 25,000 miles in the mountains/city, 30,000 miles on the interstate in 90F or below weather. Change the paper filter every fluid change, it's also called the cartridge filter, and every other change, so 60,000 miles, drop the pan, replace the pan filter, and clean the magnets.
What MPG are you getting?
@Driving around town and being easy on the pedal 38 mpg and on the highway I’ve seen 53 mpg. I really appreciate the info about the car. I bought it used with all the service records, but there was no record of CVT fluid change and the car is at 58k now so I ordered fluid and both filters. Hoping there’s no harm to the CVT being that it’s 30k overdue. Love the channel and keep the videos coming. 👍💯
@@dieselwrench3621 You will be fine at 58,000. I would not do that again. But it's okay. Change it at 58,000, then change it at ~ 75,000, so that's 25,000 miles, just the paper filter and a drain and fill, then at 100,000 I'd do the whole service again. Then after that stick to 30,000. Why change it so often right then? Just to make sure it's not all gunked up. But you can likely get away with 30,000.
@ You have been extremely helpful and I can’t thank you enough. Subscribed 👍
So ur just showing the car not reviewing the car mechanicly
What do you want me to review? I've done videos saying how to do maintenance on it and what not. CVT, it is one of the only geared CVT's which is neat. It is not very strong in cars like the Nissan Versa, Nissan Sentra, but this car it's better in, as it's much less powerful, and weighs about 1,000 LB less. Change the CVT fluid and filters every 30,000 miles. The engine is aluminum, and had plastic valve cover, the engines are quite solid, not much goes wrong with them. The engine is port injected, so it doesn't get much carbon build up, this engine does not have a turbo, so you don't need to worry about that either. The CVT does not have a full on cooler, just a heat exchanger, it will go above 200F if you really push the car hard, the best bet is to stick to 75 MPH maximum, or 3,000 RPM maximum for a long period of time. Tires, 165/65/r14, they do decent, they have a decent amount of grip, but because the suspension is a bit basic, it's a big high as well, and doesn't have a rear sway bar, it has lots of body roll, but it won't flip over, it will understeer before flipping. The car can feel pushed to it's limits a lot easier than most new cars, but most cars I end up pushing till the tires screech, this car I don't get turning hard enough often. The car weighs 2,084 LB, weighs less than a Mazda Miata, and has a smaller turning circle than a Miata too. Best things to do for maintenance: CVT: Change fluid every 30,000 miles, change the cartridge paper filter when you do the service. Every other change, so 60,000 miles, drop the pan, clean the magnets, and change the pan screen filter. Engine: Every 4,000 to 5,000 miles, change the engine oil, and replace the OEM filter with a new OEM filter. If you drive the car very hard, or drive city, change it every 3,500 miles. Or if you don't get to 4,000-5,000 miles quick, just change it every 3 months. Serpentine belt: It can start to squeak, you must manually tighten it every... Well.. When ever it starts to squeak, or every ~30,000 miles, tighten it. Rotate tires: Every roughly oil change, or every ~5,000-10,000 miles. Keep the intervolves the same. The radiator fluid, brake fluid, I'm not sure how often exactly to change those. Radiator maybe every 50,000 miles, brakes, I'm not sure. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Almost all the gripes on this truck are addressed by getting the next trim level there’s a reason the base model is cheaper than the xlt mid level model, should’ve spent the extra money proof that it’s well worth it
The hot screen, bad backup camera, (new problem) sensors behind rear view mirror started to smoke, it bricked it's self twice, and as far as I'm aware, the sand paper like plastic is still there on the XLT. The most annoying things to me as the not daily driver of the truck, but the person who sometimes drives it, is the fact it tells you that you are buckled in.. Why do I need to know that? And it has a few messages before the main screen, then you have to press a button lots of times to get it in eco mode. Why are the mirrors fully manual?! Even my car, the 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage, much more basic car, has electric mirrors. I understand manual ones, like a lever on the interior of the truck.. Nope, it doesn't even have that.
They said 2025 will be the last for this car
2024 actually. No more being made.

Yes it will absolutely work fine on title.
Too bad Mitsubishi doesn't make a 2-door coupe version of this car. They could even go all the way and remove the rear seats ! An economy car doesn't have to be ugly...
The Toyota echo made a two-door version and it didn't sell good.
@@extralock1045 - But the Fiat 500 made a 2-door and it sold well.
My wife's 2020 Mirage G4 seems to have faster acceleration than your 2024 hatch. Usually gets up to 60ish in 8 or so seconds since she floors it when we merge onto the highway. You do get better gas mileage though, we usually average 39mpg. Almost 55k miles on it and we got it new, haven't had issues yet except for a faulty tire sensor and a battery failure though that could just be age. My father-in-law in law did accidentally back into the Mirage once in his Toyota and it crumpled his rear bumper corner and only made a small indent in the driver side passenger door.
I've never seen a Mirage ever do a 0-60 in 8 seconds. Is she merging downhill? Below sea level, so with a slight gain in power due to a bit more oxygen, my 0-60 is 11.8 seconds. (: 39 MPG is pretty low. Do you drive a lot of city? Or do you drive very fast on the freeway? 55,000 Miles! Awesome! Have you serviced the CVT yet? It needs to be done every 30,000 miles. Don't wait.
@extralock1045 Right at sea level, live on the coast in Florida. We do highway driving exclusively and it's all straight lines. The speed limit is 45-55 depending on area but everyone goes 65-80. It's always serviced at the dealership every 5k miles. I told her next time she brings it in to specifically ask for transmission service so hopefully they'll do it. I really don't want to lose the Mirage because we both really like it especially since Mitsubishi is discontinuing it.

where do you live Glenwood springs Colorado the crash test of this car is what scares me...
Hello! I live in Lake Elsinore, California. The crash test, yes, it is the worst performing new car, but it is much safer than older cars. 1 Thing to note, there are 3 types of frontal crashes, full overlap, the whole front hits a wall, that's the easiest one. Moderate overlap, 50% of the front hits a wall, that's mediumly hard. Then the hardest is the small overlap test, 25% of the front hits the wall. The small overlap test, the Mirage doesn't even fail, it gets 2/4 stars, that is the hardest test out of all of them. The rest are 5/5. Here is the Mirage, and some older cars, but still modern enough to be on the road, for context: 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage, IIHS: www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/mitsubishi/mirage-4-door-hatchback/2022 2003 Pontiac Montana, www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/pontiac/trans-sport-montana-minivan/2003 1999 Ford F150, www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/ford/f-150-extended-cab-pickup/1999 2005 Chevy Astrovan, www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/chevrolet/astro-minivan/2005 The 2005 Hyundai Sonata didn't fail the moderate overlap test, but it struggled, I'm sure the small overlap test would be a big fail. www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/Hyundai/sonata-4-door-sedan/2005 Even things as new as the 2016 Nissan Quest, a huge minivan, can fail horribly with the small overlap test, with 59 CM, 23 inches of intrusion into the footwell area. www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/nissan/quest-minivan/2016 Is the Mirage safe compared to new cars? Nope! But for someone who is driving an older car and wants something new, there is a good chance it's safer than their old car.

Most of that I don't eat, it's mostly my dad stuff, my fridge was tiny, his fridge is packed. The minifridge is usually the backup fridge when he buys too much. But I unloaded his fridge to put it in the small one to show what it can hold. (:
Wow, almost 800 views already before I even watched it. Do your channel statistics differentiate between the same viewers popping back on and off like I do with your longer videos as opposed to individual viewers? (If that made sense)
Yes! It does... Kind of. I sent you a screenshot of what it says. (:
You say you're driving like a normal person in this video ... 😆
I think so! I am not going 55 tops, I am going all the way up to 69 MPH! ;o
@ 😆
I rarely use cruise control. I just don't care for it.
Most don't use it, I'm surprised, as it saves a bit of fuel.
Done! 😊 Now on to the next video. This one took me, what, 2 weeks? 😆 Have a good day!
That's a long time! Thank you for watching so long! 🍪🍪🍪🍪
You asked why so many cars on the freeway go along in the far left lane when they aren't passing anyone -- since I developed back issues, I noticed that the farther left lanes are often smoother to ride on, maybe because things like tractor trailers usually use the right lanes so those lanes take more of a beating. Just one theory.
Oh! That is a good thought there! It isn't supposed to be the lane you drive in, unless passing. But if it's quite literally painful to drive anywhere else, I get it! (:
My kids used to play that game of identifying following vehicles by the headlights. They were good at it. I can't identify them in broad daylight! 😆
As long as it has 3+ wheels, it's a good enough car! ;p
This is according to the AI -- "Don't drain and drive" means do not drive your car when your fuel tank is nearly empty; essentially, avoid driving until your gas gauge is showing a very low fuel level, as it can damage your car's engine and potentially leave you stranded.
That is good advice! I am surprised the sign said that... I say that but I've almost ran out of gas... Many times!
@ 😮 I fuel up at a half tank around town. If we are on a trip, I let it get down to a quarter tank. But we have many more gas stations closer together than out West.
@@lynnstillwell2 We have a bunch of gas stations here too! ;o
I recognize a few chain stores that we have over here in Georgia, like O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Walmart, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Aldi, Ralphs which is Kroger, Raising Crain's, Wendy's, Dell Taco, Probably a ton more that I can't think of! ;o
@ I've never heard of Raising Crains. I know there are some things in the Atlanta area that aren't out here where I am. I forgot that Ralph's is Kroger. We have many Krogers. I don't see Del Taco any more. The ones I knew were bought by Taco Bell. I'm guessing y'all have things like Pizza Hut, Domino's, SubWay, KFC... My favorite is Chick-fil-A, but I don't know if they have made it to your area. I like Cracker Barrel.
@@lynnstillwell2 We have all of the ones you mentioned too! ;p
@@lynnstillwell2 We don't have Waffle House, or waterburger, (whataburger?)
@ We have a Waffle House on every corner! Not really, but lots. We are getting more WhataBurgers, but only recently.
I think your location where you started is in Hayward that’s the nearest city to San Lorenzo, Union City, Ashland, and Fairview
Hello! I don't recognize those towns. I started on Ball, Road, by Disneyland, California, in Anaheim, California, took I-5 to Carlsbad, then took the 78 to Escondido, then took the I-15 to Lake Elsinore.
I brought a toaster oven as well can you place foil in the toaster oven
Yes, I put foil in there to reduce the mess I make! (:
