One hello can change your life…Learn how to leverage the power of connections for more career success and even more opportunities.
You love your job, but…You don’t feel connected.
You want more camaraderie with coworkers and within your team. You want to build better relationships with clients and & watch your working partnerships flourish. But you struggle to connect to others.
The changes in the last few years have made it nearly impossible to network and make those oh-so-valuable connections you need to grow your career.
You may even feel a little silly reaching out to people, posting in online forums, or networking in general. Everyone around you seems pretty settled, but you’re still longing for community.
You aren’t alone.
At One Hello, we say the #1 thing you need to be successful at work isn’t more training, another degree, or even more experience…It’s connection! & this all starts with a simple hello.
Watch & learn to get back to community and out of isolation

ABOUT
This isn’t your grandpa’s networking.
What if you stopped networking and instead started building intentional, authentic relationships?
What if you made building authentic relationships a part of your weekly and monthly goals? What if you met cool people just for the sake of meeting cool people, and you allowed yourself to see where it takes you?
At One Hello, we discourage “networking” for the sake of leverage and, instead, help you focus on building real relationships.
When networking feels less transactional and more like it should (like it’s enriching our lives), that’s the sweet spot!

The Simple Way to Endear Yourself to ANYONE
My question is, how to let go of the fear of rejection; do you have a course on that?
Great question. No, I don’t have a course on it and I struggle with it to. Honestly as of now I’ve learned to nurse my wounds and then get up and try again because the possible benefits are greater than the rejection so it’s worth the risk. But man rejection is hard. I’ll try and do an episode on it soon.
How true, we care for so many, but who cares for us? There are times we all have to balance the give and take.
Well my point is you should care for people (I actually think most people don’t care for others enough) but care does not have to mean “giving value”
Such an interesting discussion; so many people are only “act” interested because of what you can do for them. Is there a way to see through those with ulterior motives vs. those who are genuine?
Best advice ever; “listen more than you speak”! I also was not expecting, after watching a video on how to talk to anyone, to get a link on how to bail; you truly have us totally covered!
801st subscriber here! 🧡✨
Thank you!!!
@@OneHelloConsulting I look forward to watching more (or all) of your videos. Thank you for being an inspiration!
From a fellow external processor, YES!!
As an extrovert this needs more views!! I get so lonely without social interaction and feel like I can’t be left alone :( but I also get so exhausted from difficult social settings. I get depressed without my friends, so I feel like I’m a needy person who can’t be a real adult on my own even though I’m 30…
Great information that for me is easier said than done; It’s so difficult to leave the safety of being a lurker.
Made For People, Super Communication, The LIKE SWITCH books are stunning choices that i can look into 🙏🏿😃 thank you for sharing this cass
Thank you for the tips cass 😊 i appreciate it! this video help in a major way.
Thank you for the clarification & great advice cass 🙏🏿💯 i needed to hear this.
Wow I needed to hear this. Lol. Thank you! 😂😊. Do you have a teen version of this? My daughter with Asperger’s needs help with building connections and confidence. This pandemic really messed all of us up!
Somewhere you can see someone on a weekly basis at least. you get to "know" each other. And actually build relationships. Vs at bar / club or event a quick event. Your there boom next time they are somewhere else. This is why relationships can develop at work. You get to be around someone and get a feel for them rather than a stranger on the st.
Just came across this by shear luck as I didn’t see it when it was originally uploaded. I enjoy the occasional guest but also value/appreciate hearing your insight into various aspects of the workplace.
Nice information, as always. As much as I like hearing you speak on topics, it’s nice to see you inviting guests on occasion.
An ongoing class.
Any suggestions about sites to find cool classes to attend?
Nice
This was so so helpful 🎉
I'm so glad!
Cassie such a great show and very timely for all of us who want to work on connections. Thank you so much. I will follow Bailey on LinkedIn for sure.
The baby boomers don't ghost. That's the difference. Ghosting is now acceptable behavior. Integrity and closure are less valued.
Oh I’ve had baby boomers ghost. Not replying to messages is no longer a generational thing. So across all generations we need to remember to get back to people and put others forst
I agree with the first two reasons. But #3, yes there are times you don't know what to say, such as giving advice. Then just say that you are not comfortable giving advice, and either suggest someone who could (clear that first with the person) or say I will get back to you on that one, let me put something together for you. I guess what I am saying is just acknowledge the person in some way.
I completely agree that that is the right thing to do but I’m sharing from experience that sometimes we don’t always do the right thing. Which I’m not proud of. However I want those who send emails and don’t hear back to know it’s not their fault!
Interesting discussion; lots of great information that is easy to forget when you let your emotions get the better of you! It’s very easy to blame yourself when you believe you’ve been ghosted.
would you have any advice for drop in classes? i use ClassPass and sometimes manage to book the same time slot every week... but 90% of the time, all my classmates are different people. its often like this with dance or gym classes as well. most tend to be "drop in" classes
Start going to a regular class. Stand in the same spot. You’ll start to see a pattern of who shows up. Or become a regular at those drop ins to start recognizing the other regulars. I swear there are some there!
Nice video; appreciate the personal stories of how the books helped you at a specific time in your life. I am curious if you will be writing a book at some point?
Thanks for the video!❤
As an iced coffee lover, don’t you have a way for us to “buy you a coffee”?😊
If you go on Cass Thompson Career Advice its in every video description! I don't have one here yet!
@@OneHelloConsulting Thank you; feel the need to honor/reward your work with what you love, coffee!!😂😂
I remember you made a video before about loneliness and hybrid working and I read the comments and people were saying hybrid is great because they have more time to spend with their friends and family or they can avoid the toxicity of their office. My family also reap the benefits of hybrid working because there's always someone at home to keep an eye on and care for my elderly grandma. But I think people forget that not everyone has friends and family that they can easily visit and also, not every office is toxic. I heard this suggestion from someone and don't remember it well, but if you and your friend have the same work-at-home days, you could gather at one person's house and work there. If you need to take a call, you can go into another room etc. I've never tried this before (and it's not my idea!) but I think it would work because you're having the social interaction with your friends and working as well, sort of making your own office. I think the only issue is if you work on confidential stuff that can't be shared with other people
Cassandra, you are amazing! I have been following you for 4 years and I love how you deliver your messages. This video was for me! I consider myself an introvert and struggle with networking. This has been useful. Thank you!!
I have my accountability buddy, so I am going to start with finding pre-influencers in and out of my field. I am also going to check out Noah Kagan's book, thank you for the referral Cassandra.
Great video! It was very informative. Could you share some cold messaging templates? That would be really helpful. Thanks!
Yes! I've had some life changes over the past 5 years and have lost connection with friends and family. I am an extrovert and you would think it would be easy for me-- but it is not. I am VERY excited about your Camp Connection group.
Sounds like a fun idea for summer. I was just in Scottsdale for a conference and they could have used a speaker like you to lighten things up! I would be nice if you introduce your coworker on one of these videos!😂
Oh what conference were you at? And I’ll try and get him to make an appearance soon!
@@OneHelloConsulting The National Association of Psychometrists(NAPS); it was at the Scottsdale Plaza.
I am so glad you’re making videos on this topic. I am slowly losing my mind even in my hybrid situation. As a huge introvert I never thought I would feel lonely but here I am.
Even introverts need people! Hope that I can help!
I definitely found it a huge adjustment going fully remote. It's been a year and it is definitely so easy to slide into being a hermit. My tactic now is to do something different every workday to shake things up. One day I'll work in the coffee shop, one day I'll go for a walk before work, one day I'll grab by morning coffee to-go, one day I'll do my morning shopping run, and luckily my company pays for shared office space, so I'll work from the local shared space which feels exactly like being "at the office". It's helped immensely with my mental health.
Such timely advice, and yes I am part of a party committee at work and when we make it optional, we don't get a lot of participation. Looking to change that in the future with a team building theme that includes food and it will be in spurts during the day to not interrupt productivity.
Does this mean I shouldn’t use self checkout at the grocery store?😬
I use it often. I think it's just being aware of how we're making choices and cutting out people. But at my grocery stores (and Target!) sometimes all that's open is self-checkout!
I think the pandemic and the remote working was a catalyst. When I go into the office, not many people there, those who are, are on Teams calls. I have felt much lonelier these past 5 years. Tough to make new friends.
It seemed to already be starting before that but 2020 definitely threw us into hyperdrive towards loneliness
thank you
Looks like I have some homework to do tonight, thank you Cassandra. You are always spot on with your tips and tricks.
Glad it’s helpful!
The routine is what I need! Thanks for this.
Of course! Let me know how you adapt it for you!
As always, tons of useful information; usually need to watch twice to catch all the content.
Cassandra, I just wanted to thank you. I followed your tips on how to do the interview process and I actually got a job! Thank you so much. :3
Love these tips Cassandra. I will share your video with others I know who can benefit from these tactics. I have used the following tactic - "It has been great talking with you, but I see someone I need to talk with before I leave today, can I get your contact information?"
Nice tips; it can seem so awkward at times trying to find that window of opportunity to leave a conversation without coming across as rude.
Yes, that's another version of "find a reason". Always a good on as long as you really have someone to go talk to!
Good one. Very good one, and timely. I'm leaving for a multi-day conference in a couple of day. A first time conference for me. I'll do my best to practice what you preach. Especially because I'm an introvert and usually don't initiate conversation with someone, hoping that they make the first move. I'll say hi and I will "work" from the lobby lounge areas instead of my room. Do some research on the speakers instead of passively listening. That's good lounge work.
Way to step out of your comfort zone! Report back on how it goes!
@@OneHelloConsulting Will do.
