the carthage noble cav is hot garbage. they lose to 840 cost desert heavy lancers, 820 cost capadocian cav, 880 cost baktrian noble cav. And its a 50/50 fight with much cheaper theselian cav, Persian cav, socci equites extrodinarii, Nabataean noble cav, and noble blood. They would need to be worth about 890 to be cost effective and worth bringing.

I have to agree, you still need to be aggressive and work with your ally on defense. Baktria sitting back basically made it a 2 v1 not to mention he had a crap army comp.! I don't like to criticize players, one exception, rule breakers are free game! Maybe Dan can find a more experienced player next time to team up with so he doesn't have to work so hard! Lol Seriously though, great team work on the part of the attackers. Fyi, I didn't get a notification on UA-cam for this video, I happened to see on Discord you posted. Feel better!

I was also born in Florida, so could be high on a number of different things, but yea the defenders might have pulled out a victory with better timing as you mentioned. However I didn't get the sense that the attackers would have recklessly committed to the attack, they appeared to show a lot of patience but that could have been because of the initial sally, and don't forget they also had that Cav army so would have been able to respond fairly quickly to any delayed/late sally. Great work on your part though! Pontic Swords really! Sorry I digress, random thoughts beginning to creep in.

Pretty much agree with your assessment of the battle. Thought the defenders played well together (must have been blessed with good kindergarten teachers and or parents)! I too thought the attackers performed well initially but appeared Arverni underperformed! Just my observation not a criticism because I wasn't sitting in that players chair! I mean there could have been children playing or misbehaving in the same room, significant or insignificant other screaming in his or her ear, bill collectors blowing up the phone, repo-man in the driveway? Who knows but imho It seemed to be the weak link in the attackers. Made it more of a 2.5 v 3 battle! Totally enjoy the humor provided during the replays. Glad your feeling better!!

Entertaining commentary. Got some good chuckles at some of the ribbing of the players. Great coverage of the battle. Seemed like an unusually high instance of rear charges onto defenders not sure how you let that happen! Leaving a Hero's of Sparta (or most any other unit) in range to be shot by 2 towers? Just didn't look like the defenders consistently used their units as they were meant to be. Could also be that the attackers forced some poor decisions or more accurately only poor choices upon the defenders. I try to never criticize just give observations, after all my vision is 20/20 from where I sit. I do have a question on artillery, if you would be so inclined to share some wisdom! I pretty much use standard shot for walls and buildings (accuracy and damage) and fire shot for troops. I see a lot of players however, using fire shot for walls and buildings, am I missing something?

Great coverage of the battle! I am not a fan of sallying out. As a defender I prefer to utilize the city's defenses whenever and as much as possible. I have seen some devastating sally outs but they tend to be experienced defenders playing less experienced attackers (lining up by themselves or so far from each other not being able to assist in time) and the defenders fully committing to the sally (army comp. mostly cav.). That's not to say I wouldn't have a few cav. patrolling, looking for opportunities! I just haven't seen sallying be worthwhile with experienced players all around. I too believe the defenders should have moved to more defensible positions due to a lack of infantry. Reinforces my feelings on sally outs.

Thought you covered everything quite well. Didn't notice anything blatant that could have altered the outcome. Just an FYI there was a noticeable clicking sound throughout the video. I assume it was the mouse clicks, didn't notice it in other videos. It became more and more distracting as the video went on. Not meant as a criticism in any shape or form (that's not me) just an observation. Could also be that I am just hyper sensitive today! Take care!

Glad we didn't storm the beaches in Normandy the way Athens landed I would be speaking a different language now, LOL. They call it "STORM" for a reason That being said, beach assaults' (at least in my experience) can be difficult. Agree with your assessment on Athens attack. Thanks for the content. It’s always a risk for 1 player to attack on an isolated front, but it could have worked for Athens, if they hadn’t attacked piecemeal. Athens should have either; 1. used its heavy artillery ship to help clear the landing area and then landed all its forces and assaulted everywhere possible, instead of leaving so many troops useless on the ships for so long. 2. Left almost all troops on the ships so as to occupy the attention of a lot of defenders, and then attack when defenders pulls troops away to fight the other attackers. Cheers

Watched this on discord a few days ago. What you say makes a lot of sense. Personally I don't like to limit my options. Interesting style

At the start of the video atm, i just wanna say i really disagree with the "one small front" tactic. Attackers get more money, and if they dont waste it on arty, they have better troops in general. Now, a crack sword unit will still die in a chokepoint against a peasant pike, but i mean that the vague 'strength' of the attackers should always be higher than the defender's. This means that a bigger front is generally better for the attackers as they always want to be fighting, the more they are fighting in melee, the more that extra gold comes into play. Now, one front also means less chance of fucking things up, and is also a very valid tactic but to me (and my friends with whom i play Rome 2 battles vs other ppl), single fronts just force you to chokepoint too easily and allows the enemy to react to attempted spreading from that one front later. Now imma watch the video and see what they do.

i would say acceptable casualties.... but this was just rough. nothing acceptable casualties about it
