I mean... I hear this a lot, but I'm tired of people acting like "Thors was stronger than Thorkell = by a huge margin". Like... No. Thors was marginally better at best, factoring for everything (Thors wasn't likely more physically strong than Thorkell, but had more intellect, charisma, morality and wisdom). Like Askladd fought Thors in a duel (okay, Thors was holding back and he pulled out a win). Now pit Askladd against Thorkell. It's game over. Hell, if Thors threw out morality and just went for the kill Askladd would've been missing his head a minute in.

I just finished this masterpiece and a bit sad that it's done. Askelad's crew did not stand a chance at all. They were basically spared because Thors is no longer doing violence. He could've wiped them out if he wanted to but he just neutralized them. It was later revealed that there were no casualties. He is a true warrior and even in this scene, he chooses not to be violent (only minimal by using his fist or sword only to defend, not to strike)

they never redeem him...they don't even fight in second season..this series sucks

I don't mean to offend anyone, but it feels wrong watching an animated confrontation between two Norse people and there not being an option to have an Old Norse translation (voice-wise). Edit: 3:23 But at this point I am enthralled - these people did their homework!!! Oh that makes me happy!

Askeladd eyes when understand about Thors Vision ... I suppose that he was truly onest when he asked him to become their leader 'cause admit his greatness and the Will to refuse war, same feelings about askeladd but himself refuse to go against the endless spiral of violence that born inside the Vikings culture. Completly disillusion change in the First season when he meet Canute "that face Is not the face of a king" 'cause at the begin Canute refuse the violence in the name of God. At the end, Askeladd Is the real Biggest Character, a man that Know How those men thought but ride his time, aware about himself he would never have been an advocate of changing that violent world.

NGL I spent this whole first series for Askeladd to beat thorfin in one of their fight and Askeladd to try too explain his dads philosophy to him. like how his dad didnt believe in killing etc. like Ik Thorfinn got to that mentality eventually but I was SOOOOOOOO MAD at the end of season 1 when Askeladd never got the chance too tell thorfinn why his father was how he was. I was hoping for ages Askeladd respect for Thors being strong enough to avoid killing even in these situations and how Thors didnt kill any of Askeladds men just knocked them out but the moment I was hoping for never came. it made me sad after watching this series.

In my opinion, some animes have good story but don't make a lot of sense, so I would just watch and care less for what's about to happen. But it's different for Vinland Saga. The world feels more real and it's hard to find its flaws.

In this ep i underestimated Askeladd, later i found how strong he was

Aksladd was realistic but after 11 yrs he became idealistic and even die for his ideals.

It's feels different after watching whole season and watch this fight again, and u see how powerful Thors was.

Thors was wrong, not killing askellad caused the death of many innocent children and people after.
