This Film is Respectfully Dedicated to my grandfather Howard Bennaman who loved Atlantic city the Most.
just watched movie Atlantic City (1980) and came youtube to see what can I find, really like this song sung by Robert Goulet.
Loved the pictures of the Seaside. Stayed there many times. Met The Supremes there when they were performing on The Steele Pier
We used to Eagerly go there annually until the Mob took over&Built the Casinos, and then our Families never went North from the South ever again& Good riddance.
Thank you❤
I loved Atlantic City my parents had a beach house there I loved the board walk and steel pier when we were kids
Good times, the diving horse, million dollar and steel pier, bandstand, AC was my youth and have wonderful memories of Mr Peanut, Miss America and the diving bell
Yes it was
Those GD f****ng casinos ruined Atlantic City!
I grew up in Pleasantville!!!!
remember the bike rental guy, h longo, the it was and son, then sons, then sons and daughter. longo kept adding the letters and daughter as the 70s went on lol cant find any pictures or anything on him. he was an AC legend. oh and Ed the ice cream man on the beach
we stayed at the princess hotel, then they made next door the princess jr. last stayed at the geary kelton on tenn ave. the building is still there. all those nice motels are gone.
thank you. i was on beach as a baby in 68 at 6 months old! we went til 1980...miss the good old days of the 70s
Everybody goes to gino's.
Wow. Our family stayed at the Seaside for years first the hotel then moving to the motel when it opened. Thanks so much for these memories.
The end of prohibition ruined Atlantic City plus unending greed!
I would not show these terrible photos.
Summer at my grandparents' house in AC in the 1970's was my youth. Million Dollar Pier, James' Salt Water Taffy, Dip Stix corn dogs and of course Mr Peanut! Thanx for posting!
i just ate jame's taffy. i got it last week at fralingers
My home town. and your shots are from my teen age time there....good job with your collage !
Would love it if Ginos came back to Newark I used to love eating there as a kid.
Thanks for the video brought back some great memories, my father was the manager of the Museum, thanks again Todd Beaupit.
Do you have any interior photos of the museum or other photos of the wax figures such as the Phantom
I was not born yet but loved your college.
It sucks here now...
Heartbreaking
I don't know about the 1970's but from what I have heard about Atlantic city today, other than the boardwalk and hotels on the oceanfront, the inland is rundown.
yes it is.
I’m from there it’s not even a shell of its self idk what to call it
I miss the old Atlantic City.
Ahhhhhhh yes . . . the 'good ol' days' ! Born again, not likely. It's always MONEY, today ! 💀
Yeah I loved the old Atlantic City it was alot of things we can do when we were kids playing the arcades riding the rides going to the beach the good ole days
Worst likenesses of the Beatles but otherwise a nice place, still have mid 70s brochure from it. While staying on So. Carolina Ave. across the back alley from the Chalfonte in the early 80s, watched it be demolished by wrecking ball during a weeks stay. As for the 1959 Steel Pier pics, the Dave Clark 5 appearance dates it to 1965 or later. The store immediately to the left of Tussaud's still stands and if one looks over the Boardwalk railing along where the Chalfonte storefronts once were, remnants of the lower front walls and entrance portals remain to this day. Further down the Boardwalk, just past the north corner of Ballys Park Place, if one is on the beach right along the Boardwalk, the beach entrance tunnel underneath the 'walk to what was once the Marlborough Blenheim is still visible not quite buried completely by beach sand. Guests there were required to use that entrance when directly accessing the beach in beachwear as up until it closed, only full dress was allowed in the lobby area. Quite a different aesthetic from today's "wear what you want wherever" times in present AC.
I met Gino, marchetti, in person, Glen Burnie, md, about 1 year ago. signing autographs, with a picture. I had him sign a picture of Ginos, on the Boardwalk, 1970.... I loved Ginos, food. now no more Burger king, no, Ginos,, only McDonald's..., they were okay when first opened... but I looked forward to going in Ginos, when we stayed at Seaside, motel... so close to Steel pier.... next stay will be in 2 years, Resorts international Hotel, and Casino.... taj, mahal, trumps hotel, no more,,, will soon to be open again, by help, of Tony, catonosa... owner of the Steel pier.. I spoke to him, he is a very nice man...
my last time in this museum, I snapped three pictures, the memory was great... I saved the program and got very deep into Atlantic city at this time, 1965, 1970, and 1974. later, 2012. 2014, and 2016. I even got a clip of wfpg radio station, from the steelpier, 1982. just 11 months before the steel pier was set on fire, by arsonists. my room is covered with Atlantic city memorabilia... my dad's favorite vacation place.

seaside was the best motel in 1970
It was in the early 1980s, too. I lived there in the early 1980s.
We always stayed at the Seaside! Thanks!
I lived there in the summers from 1980-83. I used to swim in the pool everyday.
it was the GREATEST!
I used to work at Ginos thanks for the video and the memories
gino's was yummy, we used to eat breakfast at Abe's
OMG. My childhood. Thank you for posting that. Every year we went to Atlantic City in the 70's I HAD to go to the museum.
1:29 The Seaside Inn. When I was 12 years old, my family lived there every summer (& spring break) between 1980-83 At that time, my step-father worked at Resorts International next door. (he played in a lounge band with Sam Butera) Our room was on the 2nd floor, on the right, just next to the room that is visible. I used to swim in the pool everyday. The lifeguards at the pool were training for the '84 Olympics & taught me to swim very well. By summer's end I could swim well over 100 laps in that pool. (which = over 1 mile) I really love & miss that old Atlantic City. It was cool. The Boardwalk was full of video game arcades. (& every hotel/casino had one too) Many nights I'd go watch my dad's show & we'd stop of at the Resort's arcade for a game of Frogger or Donkey Kong. Each morning I'd ride my bike on the boardwalk. (or we'd walk the dog on the beach. (dog went crazy over horseshoe crabs, hehehe) At that time, the boardwalk still had much of the old A.C left. The Playboy club was still there. Steele Pier was there & old abandoned shops, Gino's Hamburgers, Planter's Peanut factory, some old train/railroad graveyard, Lucy the Elephant, Figmo's supermarket/grocery store, Brigantine Castle, etc. I will always remember those years as among the best in my life. I would do anything to visit that era again, just for a weekend.
Thank you for this :.)
nice video.
As a kid I grew up in NY in the 50s/60s we went to Atlantic City in the summer and for some reason each Easter Sunday I too do remember the Salt Water Taffy and yes Mr Peanut too I visited the Tussaud's Wax Museum many times I have a book from the Museum from that era fond memories of those time I am now in Fl and been here for 35 years not been to AC since the late 70s I love watching Boardwalk and what went on in that time period knowing later I was there in AC its not what it was but its still there and that's a good thing
Amazing Video. I remember being a 13 year kid going thru the wax museum. I still recall getting the creeps first time I saw that Algerian Hook and the Whipping Scene. I was hoping to see a picture of that whipping scene too. Curious to see what actually recall from it. Is there a picture of it in that souvoneir booklet?
Thanks for r video. It was beautyful
that was not the Del.Memorial Bridge!
Yes it was...
So what bridge is it..i crossed this bridge since i was 11 yrs old. Now 68. It is not the bay bridge, and sorry, its not the George Washington bridge.
I am from Los Angeles and have always been intrigued by the east coast. Very nice video with nice memories you have posted.
Very nice tribute! And great song to boot. IINM, I think this song was in the 1980 film Atlantic City with Burt Lancaster... I could be wrong but I think it is.
Yep you're correct, great movie
The Seaside Hotel And Motel located at Pennsylvania ave, demolished 1984 to make way for trumps taj mahal hotel and casino. demolished along with this motel was also Fralinger's Salt Water Taffy store and Planters Peanut Factory where Mr Peanut himself greeted customers by shaking their hands and welcoming them to his world famous factory. Thank you very much for you comment and be sure to check my other video called Atlantic City 1970's of my dad his father and mother in 1970.
