Condanna padre Telemond
The phenomenon of man - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
"If this book is to be properly understood, it must be read not as a work on metaphysics, still less as a sort of theological essay, but purely and simply as a scientific treatise. The title itself indicates that. This book deals with man solely as a phenomenon ; but it also deals with the whole phenomenon of man." (Preface of The Phenomenon of Man)

Very engaging! I loved seeing the historical footage, much of it unfamiliar to me. On UA-cam, please see my AI: The Human Future & also my appearances in the documentary Teilhard: Visionary Scientist. Prof. Dr. Dr. H. James Birx, New York

This is just gibberish, and this is coming from someone who has a scientific background and is used to reading scientific terminology, this is completely unscientific, it just adds many redundant words into one sentence not to mention it adds words which meaning completely is missused and simply added as deepak chopra did, just to try to sound appealing an scientific to the audience. One of his whole sentences can be resumed as "Humans are doomed to fail", but yet this guy complicates things so much. I read Nietzsche all of his works and it is easier to understand the main ideas behind his sentences unlike this piece of crap. If this is what theologians read no wonder you lost your ability to reason.

I stopped reading just before the 1 minute mark. Why is it necessary to do a Star Wars type of words scrolling? Not the best way to present this important message. Too bad -- you could reach a lot more people using conventional text.

    >> It can be said that he applied his whole life, his tremendous intellect and his great spiritual faith to the concept of building up a philosophy that would reconcile Christian theology with the scientific theory of evolution, that would relate the facts of religious experience to those of natural science. The Phenomenon of Man is Pierre Teilhard's most important book and contains the quintessence of his thought. Its subject could be described as the surging evolution of the world from the primal stuff of the universe, through life, to consciousness and man. << Julian Huxley in his introduction to The Phenomenon of Man (1955)

Quinn is terrific, but for me its Werners on the verge of a breakdown performance, and especially in this scene in which he discusses the "Cosmic Christ", that is the dark heart of this wonderful film. Watching him he could be a template for Pope Francis from the prophetic Morris West who decades before also wrote about a Pope who abdicates.

On July 24, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI .... commented on a passage of a Epistle of St. Paul (Rom 8:1-2). At the end of his commentary, he praised the French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin as a model for priests, attributing to him the idea of a cosmic liturgy, which he said was something they should aim to achieve. Teilhard is quoted by the Pope in his homily as if his doctrine were a spring of pure waters that the faithful could approach and drink without any vigilance...

Grazia, yes, agree with what you say, though it is a challenge, it is a beautiful one, like making up one's mind to spend time climbing remote, stunning mountain peaks... I always look forward to reading and learning more of Chardin's thought, Regards.

  • @Mattideg
    @Mattideg 11 років тому

I agree with you, but I would also add that to understand Teilhard de Chardin is important to read all his works and his letters, just because it is not easy to understand but he is a great thinker even if "nemo propheta acceptus est in patria sua" !

So clear and yet so difficult to follow, the Phenomenon of Man is central to understanding the essence of Chardin's thinking. Visionary, prophetic, fascinating...

All we have to do is be Progressive and Listen to our Hearts! Real Catholicism is Progressive and not limited to Rules or Morals or Obligations or any other Superficial Nonsense. And who cares if it's the Devil? We've made a fatal mistake blaming the devil for all of the wrongs, it's our fault and our society's fault. Now are we going to change it and get rid of the killing and stupidity. First stop reacting!

Reading this book will illuminate the direction of the unfolding universe and show how humans are at the cutting edge of this process. Essentially it's a theology of process compatible with the theory of evolution.

Wow, I thought I was the only one on earth who remembered reading (though slowly) The Phenomenon of Man in the early 70's. At that time I thought, wow, pretty cool for a Jesuit !! I did see it as a scientific book on the evolution of man and consciousness after a critical building up point and then busting through to a "higher" level. Book was miles ahead of its time. Wouldn't it be cool if more "religious" leaders thought like this to help all of us along.
