    I have pulled over 20 LS based engines from my local pull a part. Mostly the bottom end 6.0L blocks, if they spin they win. I find 799/243 heads for the 6.0L separately off 5.3L engines and pulled a LQ9 last week from an 03 Escalade, has super clean cylinders and rotates like smooth butter. Cost $203

    Hey man, i love your vids. They are actually useful for most people who dont have a fortune to dump into a suped up crate motor. I have a 1970 chevelle and wanna do an LS swap what would you recommend? I hear a 5.3 with a 4L60E is a popular option. But which 5.3 from what year range? I hear to get one before they added all the VVT. Could you get this aluminum block and put the 799 heads on it? Or are they not compatible?

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop Місяць тому

      It all depends on your budget. The cheapest way to go is a 1999-2006 engine. Most newer year engines have DoD and/or VVT. But both can be deleted for around $600 in parts. 799 heads will bolt on any of the LS based engines, but may not always be the best option.

    I have a 5.3 Vortec that came out of a 2007 Suburban, but everything is 1997-2006 for the standalone harness. Are the 2006 wiring harness the same as the 2007 harness? If so, could I purchase an already tuned ECM as well since I have to delete my Dod? Please help, your video is on beast mode right now, but I'm confused on what I need to get because I don't have the original ECM and wiring harness. I want to go DBC instead of DBW, and I have a TH350 transmission. Thank you in advance.

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop Місяць тому

      If you have a 2007 DoD engine, it's a gen4 engine. The earlier gen3 wiring and computer won't work without some engine modifications and/or a reluctor converter box. It's a whole lot cheaper and easier to either use the gen4 E38 computer, or buy a gen3 engine.

    3:24 “Some of these… These are the Air Conditioning plugs, so we don’t need those…”. Arizona Man: “Oh, I beg to differ, sir!” lol Nice work! I used to apply the same technique on TPI swaps in the mid 80’s to the late 90’s. Good organization is key to a much less stressful swap. 👍

    So I tried connecting to my hot wire from the brake connector under the hood but when I use the blinkers it applies power in and out like the blinker so then what wire would I tie in to because I don’t want the torque converter lol locking in and out with my blinker switch … I haven’t tried the wires getting under the dash to the brake switch just thought it would be easier to tie into under the hood bs under the dash
