Queen - Bijou cover (BMG red special guitar / Amplitube 5)
This is a cover of the song ''Bijou'' by Queen and a tribute to the great Freddie Mercury.
We recorded the audio first in our little home studios and made a video afterwards.
This video is just for fun. We played along with the song (The instruments aren't even connected :) !
For the guitar part I used my BMG red special guitar with a custom Amplitube 5 preset. The preset is a combination of vox ac30 amps and the legendary Deacy amp. I used an external treble booster (KAT Treble booster classic).
The keyboard part was played by my dear friend Henri Degens and is made out of multiple layers of synths and strings.
Enjoy!

C’est vraiment magnifique c’est un très bel hommage
@@edtdlc Merci Beaucoup!
Wow! What a brilliant cover!!
Where can I book you?
Very very good sound.
Can you input songs into the amplug to practice?
Very groovy
This sounds incredible. The tone is spot on
❤
Sounds good!
Da hell 😮😮😮🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is epic !
Can u plug it into a amp
No, Even if you could, it would sound bad. It is really made for headphones or audio speakers.
Nice! are you playing through the JBL speaker? :)
yes!
Awesome! I got one for Christmas
I cant seem to get the sounds at all. Tried so many different ways, but unsucsessful in getting the exact tones or sound 🤷♂️
Its plastic. Its nasty. Its awkward to use, difficult to get a decent tone out of (used Strat & PRS). It randomly switches itself off. It sounds awful with my Sennheisers but better with cheap gamer headset ? Its a toy that does the "We Will Rock You" drumbeat for the child in you. After an hour its irritating and in the bin.
Man, with the quality of your videos it’s a wonder you don’t have more subscribers!
Thanks so much for your kind words!!
Is there a way to run the amp into a laptop to record things?
Best way to record the sound is just to connect the amplug directly (headphones out) to your laptop input. It will give you the same sound as you hear through the amp!
@@TimRS90 thanks very much
Sounds like a muffled box
from what year is this red special ?
2005
Fucking perfect!! 10/10
Thanks!!!
What amplug settings do you use to obtain this sound?
Gain 9/10 tone 3.5/4 volume 5
how did you get that tone?
BMG Red Special >Vox amplug brian may > jbl extreme 2 speaker filmed with my iphone! :)
@@TimRS90 wow thats simple, thanks. Do you live in UK? I am just about to order red special but i dont know how much they will charge for delivery and customs
@@tiasuzelac2794 I live in the Netherlands. Where do you live? Don’t they Sell the BMG red special in your country?
@@TimRS90hi, i live in austria, so i could possibly order from germany. But no, we dont have any guitar shops that work with brian may guitars. How did you buy you RS
@@tiasuzelac2794 Try Musicstore in Cologne / Köln in Germany. I think They stock BMG guitars and ship worldwide if I remember correctly. I bought my BMG guitar in 2005 from Astrings in the UK. Long time ago!
Amazing playing sir!
Thank you for sharing information. Thinking to buy one.
Beautiful. I can never get my BM special to sound like that 😭. Do you mind showing how you setup amplitude?
what the thing caled that you are using to plug in the guitar?
can you put it directly in your amp for having a great song ? Or it isn’t possible ? Can you send a link for buy it ?
Which JBL speaker has the cable input option to use in this way please? This demo sounds great, which JBL are you using please? Thanks in advance 👍
Thanks! This is the jbl extreme 2. I think most of the jbl speakers have an aux in ( cable input ) but I’m not 100% sure !
What would happen if I plug this in to my acoustic?
That would be an interesting sound I think haha! I don't have an acoustic so I can't try unfortunately :)
@@TimRS90 Ok ;) Well I’m gonna buy one
What amplifier you used for the output?
It appears it was ran through that JBL speaker in the side frame
Is It easy to chance pickups by yourself or rather use some pro?
If you know how to solder it is doable I think. Never did it myself ! :)
So underrated🤯

This is hilarious to me because I just watched a video last night from 1978 where Brian May explains some of his sounds including that Echoplex effect, which was a large box on the floor. ua-cam.com/video/25qNXhPVxGY/v-deo.html
It's obvious that playing a Red Special with an amp designed to produce Brian's sound will give you a similar sound. Instead, don't you think we should verify how close Brian's sound can be when played with a common "Stratocaster" or "Les Paul"? I think that's what most guitar players who don't own a Red Special want to know. Not many people have a Red Special model. Like you, there are so many videos playing and verifying using Red Special, but people are not thoughtful. You should think better.
how can I connect the amplug to a speaker via the headphone jack?
If your speaker has an “aux in” like the Jbl speakers, you can use a normal 3.5 mm headphone cable (3.5 mm - 3.5 mm male stereo audio cable )
Hi....very very Amazing sound...i can't understand the right connections ! Where does the guitar jack go? you didn't insert amplug in the guitar... correct?
Hi! Thanks!! I used a female to male extension cable so I don’t have to put the amplug directly in the guitar. Much easier to play with the controls!
@@TimRS90 Many thank!!!!
Great video and great playing, this thing is a lot more versatile than the Vox folks are advertising. I even got some Tom Scholz lead sounds out of it with my setup. You've got a good ear for the music and the textures so I'm wondering if you have any thoughts/experience with the MV50 Brian May Edition? It sounds like they're going for a Deacy Amp kind of thing with it.
Thanks so much! I haven’t had any experience with the MV50 yet. Would love to try it one day! I mainly use amplitube 5 with some good studio monitors nowadays and get some nice tones there. If I have a chance I will try the MV50 for sure!
I got an MV50 AC which from what I see is the same thing as the BM version except it doesn't have the integrated treble booster. I use it with a Vox BC 112 cab with an external treble booster and you can get a really good sound with it! And no it's not really a deacy sound at all, closer to an AC30.
@@SealedKiller Thanks for letting me know about the BC 112 cab! That looks perfect for pairing with small heads, namely one of those NuTube amps. Also I agree, in the research I've done, having a quality external treble booster is definitely the way to go.
very nice job <3
That was very nice to listen to! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for your kind words!!
Hi. This is a great video. Sounds incredible. Do you know if its possible to plug the amp into a bigger practice amp that runs from mains and how?
In theory you can run it into any amp (front input / effects return /aux in. BUT I doubt it will sound very good. Guitar (practice) amps have guitar speakers which have a frequency response for “guitar tones”. The amplug is a moddeling device meant to be used with headphones. If you want to put it through speakers you are better of with something made for playing music ( with full range speakers ).
You just need a lead which goes headphone size 3.5mm to jack 6.4mm …. You want as clean a sound on amp as possible however since this thing is doing amp and speaker emulation….ideally plug into an FX return but if not available you want amp on clean and no eq…it won’t sound great though… it’s best to plug it into a stereo…that’s what I do…and it sounds incredible through normal stereo speakers…
you can connect amplug on monitoring?
Do you mean like studio monitors? If you have an audio interface, than yes you can! You need a different cable though, ( 3,5 mm audio jack to 2x TS 6,3 mm jack )
@@TimRS90 Thank you for answer amigo !
!! Let's go my friend you are the best :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, how does it sound with a Fender Stratocaster? Is it kind of similar or does the Red Special make it that good?
I don't have a Strat so I'm not sure. I tried it with a squier affinity telecaster. It's still Nice. The red special does get a lot closer though!! I think a guitar with humbuckers, like a SG / Les Paul will be more similar.
I like this sound a lot I’m getting my amplug today actually I can’t wait
Have fun with it!
You made me clear that i got to have this
Sounds spot on using a BMG too
Great video-- you really showed what the amplug is capable of
wow
