In this video, I am going to talk about refrigeration system evacuation. In my experience, some technicians do not evacuate the system properly, so I thought this video might help them understand how important evacuation is.
Unveiling TESTO 552i Vacuum Gauge Failures and Shortcomings - What You Need to Know
Переглядів 8275 місяців тому
In this video, I will show you how TESTO’s 552i vacuum gauge behaves in a refrigeration system. The vacuum sensor in this gauge is of the Pirani type, and Testo claims that it provides very accurate vacuum pressure readings. However, this gauge has three major problems. I contacted TESTO and presented my inquiries with a video demonstrating my test results, but they could not reasonably convinc...

" I even tested Testo’s 552 gauge with a Pirani sensor, which is physically similar to the old model." There's 2 versions? i just got a 552, how to know what sensor it has?

You can not. They are physically the same. You need to read the catalogue to see what kind of sensor it has.

This video really broadened my sense of understanding of the working of the valve as well as how pressure drop after the TXV could lead to changes in pressure drops and thus temperatures.

so don't buy the testo vacuum gauge?

It's up to you. You can clearly see that this gauge does not read the correct pressure.

after watching this video i really tried to find some other micron guage that has an absolute sensor but i could not now i don't know what to do 😵‍💫

Hello, thank you for your attention to detail. I have encountered this issue multiple times myself and initially thought everything was correct. Our expectations from this company were higher than this. Based on the response they gave you, it seems the company's policy is to keep customers satisfied at any cost, rather than taking customer feedback into account for product improvement. Spending money on accurate tools is crucial for performing a job to a high standard. However, we made a mistake in this matter and spent money unnecessarily. I hope the company's management reconsiders their approach.

I couldn't agree more. What a waste of money. I really regret spending that money.

@TestoGlobal Hey Testo, How do you guys address this issue? Thanks, Cheers!

They said everything they could to convince me in the email, but their response was ridiculous. Everybody in this trade knows that refrigeration or air-conditioning systems are not always perfect, and one needs an accurate vacuum gauge to detect any problems. As I showed in my test, the TESTO 552 with an absolute sensor (the older model) is very good. But unfortunately, TESTO discontinued this model and replaced it with the new so-called technology, the Pirani sensor, which is a disaster. I really did not expect this from TESTO; that’s why at first, I thought my gauge was faulty. I acquired a new one which showed the same results. Even I tested new model 552 gauge with Pirani sensor and still the same results.

Thank you. I had the same problem, and now it's clear. My gauge always reads low pressures, and I thought everything was fine. Now I know I should be more careful.
