George Martin did infuriate some Beatles fans when he remarked he tried to encourage the group to do a single album not a double back in 1968.

John, George, and Ringo were all aging badly by 1973. Too much excesses. Paul still looked 10 years younger than he was which helped getting a younger auidence.

It always amuses me when people try to make the White Album a single disc, because nobody can agree on what to include and what to leave out. Me, I would keep it as it is, except I would include George's song Not Guilty on side three, maybe between Yer Blues and Mother Nature's Son.

Excellent choices until you reached the last three, none of which I would have included, especially "Good Night." I would have included "Revolution 9" and "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" instead. Both of those iconic tracks should never be missing on any version of the White Album! P.S. I'm surprised you didn't include "Obladi Oblada" in your list.

Good selection I’m pleased you included “Don’t make wait to long” by George and I know I know by John both are underrated songs. I’m not sure what criteria you are using to qualify sings for your 1973 album but New York City was released in 1972, happy Xmas in 1971 and back of boogaloo in 1972. 1973 was such a productive year for the beatles solo projects, they released 5 albums so you could easily of made a quality double album from those alone without stepping back in time. I noticed you didn’t include any songs from Red Rose Speedway in your selection, My love, Big barn bed and little lamb dragonfly would push to be on double album also Live and let die, C-moon and HiHiHi all released in 1973 would also be there or there or there about too.

If I'm right John's 'Rock and Roll' album in 1975 might have been the only Beatles solo album to feature him, Paul and George on the front cover --- blurred picture I know!

This reminds me of something I tried a while ago to come up with a regular length White Album that had an equal balance of John, Paul and George songs (however unrealistic I suppose that might've been), and it went like this: Side One: 1. Yer Blues is one of the worst Beatles songs. A complete dirge. I would not have included it. I Will would be a much better choice.

Cool concept! Fun listen. I might quibble some with sequence, and I'd probably have "Imagine" and "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" in place of one each from John & Paul, respectively, to reflect that period. But that's simply personal preference -- numerous ways one could go.

I doubt if the Beatles would record McCartney's Bubble Gum rock willingly.

Nice choices though by 74 in this hypothetical George would’ve demanded (rightfully) more than two songs and two co-writes with Ringo. Personally I’d take his “Be Here Now” over “I Know, I Know,” but that’s why these are such fun. Having said that, if there only 12 tracks instead of their standard 14, it’s a little more evenly distributed

It would have been a truly remarkable and enjoyable experience for the Fab Four to have actually recorded and released this album back in 1971.

How could you forget the Tragically Hip? They made their best music in the 90's. Living in Northern Vermont, I always listened to CHOM FM from Monttreal. Been a huge Blue Rodeo fan since the beginning. They have played here in Burlington twice.

“Twist and Shout” is a cover song recorded by The Beatles; not an original tune.

Among Beatles only John was into alcohol during the 60s. So, the early years were much more the preludin and speed years.
