vlog #352 Hmm, Possible STINKFOOT in San Miguel?
Переглядів 85День тому
This one picks up exactly where the last one left off. The walk in Barangay San Miguel continues as far as possible on the boardwalk. The walk isn't edited since there is a viewer ramfarin who has a boat along the beach somewhere. Perhaps if they can give me a clue where it is from watching the vlog I can find it next time I'm there. Then we answer the big question...did I get "STINKFOOT" from ...

Nice videos, my wife and I are from Brisbane AU. Planning to retire as well and be based in M.Apostol street where my wife has a house already built. Tnx
Thanks for watching and the nice comment. We live on LaPaz St. in Brgy Burgos. Are there any places you'd like me to video?
Very good footage sir
Thanks for watching and thanks for the nice comment. Have you been to San Antonio? Is there anywhere else you would like to see or another part of town?
Hi Brad, the banka is down by beach from the third row of huts when you made the right turn towards the NETC back gate. Anyways, here is another vlogger that i had fun with last Feb2024 ua-cam.com/video/wA5F9v4Nj9U/v-deo.htmlsi=Vmzp51jHfPkbul_8
Ok, I'll try to find it in March or April when I go back there. The vlogger is Kay Katigbak, right?
Jay Katigbak is his name, and here is his main page which is Padyak All The Way. He is mainly vlogging his bike tours/rides all over the Philippines.
classic... why no money 😂
Man it is beautiful there !!!
Thanks for watching, and yes it is!

Just Subscribed to your channel. How about going north of the boardwalk? All the way to the back of the old USNAVSTAPHIL? I have a boat somewheres down that side of the boardwalk that I haven’t seen for a while.
@@ramfarin thanks for watching and subscribing. I’ve got that one in the can almost ready to go, but they don’t allow access to that part of the beach.
I just looked at a video on your channel that covers that area. What is the name of your boat? Will people there know you if I say Ram Farin? I could go there again next time I'm there. and try to find your boat.
@@avermonterinthephilippines3823 Name of the boat is Jack Ibagbaga. It is closer to the middle of San Miguel beach. I think you can still walk all the way to the back side of the old US base. I see a lot of people walk/jog on that section of the boardwalk since the view if you are looking towards the south is breathtakingly beautiful.
Brings back so many memories! Someday ill return....
It's very different, but it's still the Philippines.
Were you in Magsaysay when the roads were dirt, and some of the locals would use the butterfly knives? It sounded like the old west. I was there 8 times. Once for a 30 day leave out of the Marines. It was LST 1187 and.1184. This was in 80 and 81 though. Those wild days were pre 75.
Thanks for watching! I was there '72-'75. Mostly in San Miguel up in San Antonio, TAD to DaNang.
What month is that? I'm not looking forward to that 😬😂
January 2023.
I was a dependent there 67-68. My Dad was stationed there. I was in 6-7th grade in school so I remember it well. I have done a Google Earth trip through our old neighborhood in the enlisted housing area. That has sure changed! Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for watching! What street did you live on and where was your school? Maybe I could walk buy those places next time I'm there. Also I invite you to watch vlogs #96, #101, #313, #314, #315 and #332. They all have footage from inside the old base. Some are up to 5 years old and some things from the old vlogs have changed now.
That is so different from my time there. No Machine gun towers, No Jeepneys. Thank you for showing this. I look forward to seeing Base improvements if possible.

Shut river

Yep! Thanks for watching!
What does the front of old jolos club look like on Rizal?
I stayed at the acme in. What does the front of the old jolos club look like now on Rizal?
Thanks for watching! I don't know where on Rizal Jolos was. Close to the base or close to the Victory station? Some where between? As far as I know few if any of the old bars are still around, but I'm happy to look if you give me a clue I can try to find the building when I'm there in the spring.
@avermonterinthephilippines3823 you go up to Magsaysay to the round a bout. That should be Rizal . Go left on Rizal and stay on the right side of the road. It should be about 100 yards or so. They say it's burned down so don't waste the trip. I just thought you would know. Thank you Sir.
@@JohnPerkinson-k8e I'll see what's up when I get there. Maybe I'll take a walk down that way so you can see what it looks like now. Thanks again for watching.
I was there in 81 for the last time. I could go there and take a seat at a bar or restaurant or street bench. I could close my eyes and wish and remember all i can. When my eyes open ,reality would hit me . This is Not the P.I. that i fell in love with and it is no longer the 7th jewel of the sea.
I was stationed at NAVCOMSTAPHIL Sam Miguel '72-'75. I sure has changed. Thanks for watching!
oh no flood
Thanks for watching!
are you by yourself all the time? you should sometimes bring your wife as well . be safe i never been in san miguel yet .
Thanks for watching! My wife prefers to stay at home. Where are you from?
@@avermonterinthephilippines3823 from leyte province came from , but leaving in florida present
I really miss that place some days! I didn't know there was a south entrance to the base!
Assuming the ocean is to the west, this would be the south side. I don't remember what it was called, but I don't think we used it much. I think it may have come out outside the main gait but I'm not sure.
Seeing the streets of Zambales makes me miss it 😊 that was a fun vlog! And yeah who keep tracks of what day it is hahaha😂
Salamat sa panonood!
Holy Shit they have signal lights now!
Thanks for watching! That's the only one I can think of in the area. It's usually set on a yellow blinking caution there and red blinking caution coming off SBMA. For a while they had a traffic cop there, but mostly it's just the light which means there may as well be nothing. LOL
Confused by the video. Gordon AVE was first right after crossing the bridge. You made two rights. Runway was on Gordon.
Thanks for watching. The first shot on this vid was taken from Colomban Rd looking back at the Shit river bridge. I walked across Magsaysay, took a left and walked up Magsaysay about a block and took a right onto Gordon Avenue. From there I walked up Gordon Ave a ways, then turned around and walked back. I don't know about Runway. Sorry for the confusion, but I only took one right at the begining of the vid.
Was that the bridge over shit river? USNS Spica 1991.
I ran those streets from 1981 to 1984 stationed onboard USS Midway for 4 years as a Single Sailor. I tried to extend onboard for one more year. My Detailer just laughed. He told me to pick any place I wanted in the States, but I was going home.
Thanks for watching! As you can see many things have changed.
Shit River Bridge has seen some improvement.
Yes it has.
It was completely replaced complete with a new main gate.
A number of the bars on Gordon Ave catered to sailor who were transferred to Subic from Sangley Point in the early 70's.

Most people are clueless as to what is really going on in country. 7 new military facilities are quietly being built in the Philippines. They are known JUSMAGPHIL. Joint US Military Advisory Group Philippines. These bases will be 100% under Philippine control, but allow American forces, hardware, and personnel to rotate in and out unlimited to combat the growing Chinese influence in the Spratly Islands.
Thanks for watching
Your to old to be there..ridiculous
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment, even though I don't get it. I must be too old to understand it. LOL
When I saw title I thought you were going to the Base in San Antonio. I think the Philippine Army is there now? Use to be a USN Communications Station for Pacific Fleet. Best duty I ever had.
Yeah, I was there 72-75. CTI USN. USNAVCOMSTAPHIL. The Philippine Navy is there now using it as some kind of training area. I'm going to try to get closer to the base next time I go there. The closest I've been I videoed in vlog #284 about 1/2 way thru.
@ I was there 88-91. I visited again about 10 years ago with my son who was playing in the PBA one year. I walked up to the gate just to see it again and the entrance was the same. I lived in subdivision right past the base road turnoff on crossroads.
Thanks. Lived down by crossroads from 88-91 while in usn.
Thanks for watching! If there is anywhere else in the area you'd like to see, let me know.
Left there in early ‘72. Things have really changed; for the better, it appears.
American service men stationed in subic naval base they called it shit river.
Yeah I was there early 70's. Thanks for watching.
Crossed that bridge a thousand times....
@ Thanks for watching!
so far i kinda remember that american legion. still there wow standing still,.brings back memories,. i hope soon naval base will comes sooner.wishinggggg
Thanks for watching! Next time I'll spend more time on the former US Naval Base, now SBMA.
Oh you put a stipulation on it. I was going to say Cauayan. 😂
Looking at your wife's cooking I'm tempted! 😀
@avermonterinthephilippines3823 we would be glad to have you visit sometime. Have you been on Baloy Beach lately? There was a place called Mike's Sari-Sari store when we stayed there. He made tacos everyday. That's how I survived while everyone else ate fish.
@@ThisisOurPhilippines I haven't been to Baloy Beach lately. Maybe I'll check it out next time. How were the tacos. Better than Taco Bell?
